To be fair, that was the most obvious and reasonable question for Tom to have asked Snowden at the time. It would have been a damn shame to pass up such an opportunity.

I KNEW IT! As soon as Tom mentioned Snowden's framing in the video call I immediately asked myself "So probably he assumed he wasn't wearing any pants..." I was not disappointed.

I briefly got Snowden mixed up with Assange, and I wondered why this interview wasn't headline news back in the day.

Did I hear that the theme park had ``Pirates of Batavia``? There is (has been) only one Batavia, which was what the Dutch called a small village on Java, Dutch East Indies. After they kicked out the Dutch and renamed the country Indonesia, the locals called in Jakarta. Which means that Batavia is half a world away from the Caribbean. Batavia was named after the Batavieren, the Germanic tribe that supposedly floated down the river Rhine on rafts and settled in the marshes that later inhabitants turned into the low lands.
