I love this- my first job as an animator was Tom and Jerry (for a title sequence to a package show) and I knew and worked for Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, so I've always wanted to know more about the drink that had such an impact on my old industry.
Grandpa used to mix them up for the grownups every Christmas in Ohio. They'd let me have one as a teenager. I didn't realize it was a Midwest kind of thing but what a great tradition. Mace is another spice that works well (the spice, not the pepper spray). 🎄✨
Now that looks like a delicious holiday drink! Yummy! Loved seeing this side of your personality Matt! Fantastic presentation! Cheers and Merry Christmas! Matt Street
Years ago, 1973, I had just left the Army a few months before and my Dad & his wife invited me to join them at the VFW Tom and Jerry party. I had no idea what a Tom & Jerry was but when one was handed to me it tasted to me like its namesake, essence of cat and mouse. I have never drank the vile mixture since. I know a lot of people like it but it's not for me. Merry Christmas to all.
Been behind on watching videos and this one brought back memories. We live in Ohio and my late Dad used to make these at Christmas. Although I never got a taste till I was 19 lol. I’ve never tried to make them myself. Thanks for this!
Yeah oh Yeah Matt, That Looks tasty ... which reminds of a video of Sir Paul making Margaritas with his daughter Mary -But Paul calls the drink Macca-rita 🍹 (His favorite Tequila is Patrón)
Never would I expect a cocktail tutorial in your channel... And I definitely want to try it out... Weather is hot in this country this time of the year, but nevertheless, for Winter, it could be well used. And I never heard of this drink before, but it sure looks like a Great treat for friends and family in cold days. Thank you very much. Greetings from Chile.
Man a page from my youth. Every Christmas Eve after church my Dad would make Tom and Jerry’s before we would open Christmas gifts. My family always opened them on Christmas Eve. Very timely, because I was planning on making them this Christmas. 🎄😀
I don’t drink but the wife is from Wisconsin…so I asked her …”you ever hear of drink called Tom and Jerry?” She looked at me like I asked if she ever heard of the Green bay Packers .. she said “ everyone from Wisconsin knows what a Tom and Jerry is! “ Just like you said Matt! Merry Christmas!
I'm originally from Wisconsin, but I haven't been home for the holidays in 8 years. This really makes me miss being home for some of those classic holiday food traditions that haven't quite caught on elsewhere. Thank you Matt for including this along with your other awesome videos!
You're obviously quite the experienced Tom & Jerry drinker since, when you took that sip, you didn't get any whipped cream on your nose! Merry Christmas!
Hey Matt, this sounds good I will have to try it now. This is a little something different, really gets me in the spirit! Thanks for a great year of videos, and Merry Christmas! Like the apron too.😊
Thanks for this. I really appreciate seeing the other side of your excellence. Never had a Tom and Jerry, too complicated for me. Maybe you could show how you make your preferred Manhattan.
I'm intrigued by that concoction and I'm not even a drinker! Maybe it's because I'm an upper-Midwest dweller. The clip from _The Apartment_ was perfect ... ending-wise.
Appreciate the information on the T and J. But a shot of brandy and shot of rum is all I would of needed. Lol. For a second I thought you were gonna do a spit take. That would of been hilarious. Sorry lol. Merry Christmas buddy.
Nice! I'm going to try it, even though here on Brazil gets pretty hot during Christmas 😆 Can I use whisky instead of brandy? Merry Christmas to you, Matt! Cheers!
Ah ha!!!! That would explain the lyric "Down at the corner the crowd is so merry/I end up drinking about 12 Tom and Yerry" in the Yogi Yorgesson classic "I Yust Go Nuts at Christmas"!! Very Wisconsin I'd guess!! Looks great Matt, thanks for such great content, and a very Merry Krimble.
