It's Memorial Day weekend, and this song came to mind. To all the soldiers who never saw the green grass again, I salute you all. To the families who received their father, son, husband, brother, or loved ones in a casket, I send you my heartfelt condolences. Hopefully, one day, we will never have to leave home 🏡 😔
We are going to play this tomorrow at my moms funeral and we are going to join in as loud as we can as we carry her out of the church… it’s one of her favs… happy tears 🥲 rest in peace Daisy
Mrs H 🇬🇧 ... My Mama had great taste in music...She worshipped both Tom Jones & Elvis Presley ...AND now her Grandkids love them too...RIP Mother...What a DIVA..❤💋
I was listening him three times, on concerts 2012th, 2017th, and last time in July 2023rd. I was located 4-5 meters far away from him. And therefore I claim responsibly: that voice has not changed at all, since I first heard it in 1966th, when he performed this divine song. God bless him!
yes,he was only 26 then a handsome young singer, and I was only 2 years old when he first sang that song, now,he's on his 80's and I'm in my 50's,but still I always hears that song being play and I always love to sing it,God bless Tom Jones.
Written by Nashville songwriter Curly Putman, “Green, Green Grass Of Home” tells the tale of a condemned prisoner who is longing to escape to the green, green grass of home. At the end of the song, it was revealed that the man is facing execution, and he will be coming home only to be buried.
My dad always sung this to me when I was a child I never understood untill I had to come home to his beautiful few days to say goodbye. In our Maori culture we all sleep next to him
This is such a bittersweet song. I've only gone to one concert in my life, and it was a Tom Jones concert. I went with my two sisters, and it was held at a concert hall at Fair Park in Dallas, TX. He was fabulous. His voice in person is so much stronger on stage. A few women threw their panties on stage. I'll never forget that night. Tom Jones is a legend.
December 1963 our family emigrated to the U.S.. Now I return to the UK at 62; first time recently married to the village gal I knew when I visited in 1980. 43 years in the making. This song holds dear.
You know, I just watched a video of him singing this song last month (April 2024) and I believe that his voice actually has a touch more tonality now than it did in this video. It's bloody incredible; the man is 83 years old for crying out loud! He's the man with the golden voice, a true talent and a living legend.

I was with my father the first time I heard this version of this song. Two days ago, I learned that his father (my grandfather), who worked in Hollywood for many years, was on the set of 'How Green Was My Valley', about singing Welsh coal miners. Grandpa hung around the set just to listen to the Welsh choir that provided the soundtrack for the movie. 25 years later, my Dad brought this record home, and we listened to it over and over again. Indeed, Tom Jones is the son of a singing Welsh coal miner.
The old hometown looks the same As I step down from the train And there to meet me is my mama and papa Down the road I look and there runs Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries It's good to touch the green, green grass of home Yes, they'll all come to meet me Arms reaching, smiling sweetly It's good to touch the green, green grass of home The old house is still standing Though the paint is cracked and dry And there's that old oak tree that I used to play on Down the lane, I walk with my sweet Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries It's good to touch the green, green grass of home Then I awake and look around me At four grey walls that surround me And I realize, yes, I was only dreaming For there's a guard and there's a sad, old padre On and on, we'll walk at daybreak Again, I'll touch the green, green grass of home Yes, they'll all come to see me In the shade of that old oak tree As they lay me 'Neath the green, green grass of home

Tej piosenki słuchała moja mama z megnetofonu szpulowego. Tata nagrywal jej piosenki z radia. Między innymi tę właśnie. Ostatnim razem słuchałam jej chyba ze 40 lat temu. :)
EU, ERA UMA CRIANÇA, COM 8 ANOS DE IDADE. UMA DAS SUAS BELISSIMAS CANÇÕES. INIGUALÁVEL. MUITO TALENTO E MUITA BELEZA E SENSUALIDADE. THANK YOU, SIR TOM JONES.
