You know when Tom describes the way his haters live, I don't think he meant to be belittling them, he was saying that yes most people live like that but good people don't hate on others who don't. Instead they feel motivated.

Love this! I was in the 10th grade and into punk rock when Licensed to Ill came out. Me and my friends thought the Beasties were hilarious and would blast them on our car radios all over town. My buddy then played me one of their punk 6" singles. It was straight up NY hardcore punk and I loved it. Then, Paul's Boutique came out, and my mind was BLOWN! So different than their previous record and super funky! Then I learned that their intro into hip hop was just them screwing around in the studio with a song called "Cookie Puss". It was so funny that DJ's started spinning it in NY clubs and the rest is history! Love the "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence"!!

Super late to the party, but the bars about "working nine to five" and "the only town you'll ever see" aren't about him having an issue with that honest, hard-working lifestyle, but rather about how people who live that life and aren't happy with it see his success and hate him for it. In other words, he's not saying "you suck because you work hard" but "you wish you had my life and hate me because you hate yours". At least that's how I interpret that part. I don't think he meant everybody who works a 9-5 / reg job , I believe he is referring to people who have become unhappy,angry,miserable in their life due to having to work a reg job instead of following their dreams. They end up being jealous hater's. But majority of us accept it /reg job and make the best we can out of life. So We the majority are not jealous hater's and so we are not offended.
