Been waiting for your reaction all day. My Tom MacDonald story. Saw him in April 2019. (I have progressive multiple sclerosis) I forgot to bring in my wheelchair and the venue would not let my husband go get it. We were front row for hours. During all the local talent Tom let go up before the show started then Petey, Brandon Hart, Novas extremely long set then Tom came out. I got to the 3rd song (ironically I Wish) my legs totally gave out. My husband had to carry me to the side for my safety and i didn't get to see the rest of the set. I was so embarrassed. Tom did meet and greets after his show. I sat and waited while hubby waited in line. I didn't know what they were talking about but Tom looked over smiled and flashed me a peace sign. I flashed one back and I was so happy with that interaction. All of a sudden Tom told the 100 plus people behind my husband to please be patient and him and Nova came and sat with me and we just talked for 20 plus minutes. Dude, they were so down to earth and just the coolest people. Last hug Tom gave me I just told him, please just always stay Tom and don't let the industry get him. He promised and has kept his promise. He is entirely genuine, compassionate and has really gotten his craft down. Anyway.. I tried to make this short as possible. I just want people to know Tom is the very real and just a great person as is Nova and Brandon Hart.

It really was very special. I don't tell this story much. However, because the Hannah Montana bar was broke down here I wanted to tell people that in no way is this man fake. He is genuinely and unapologetically him. I adore that about him. That is not something I ever expected.

Church dropping the Ninja in the song I think is a shot at Tom from the song White Boy. In that song white boy Tom states you can call him honkey, cracker, and etc but he’ll never call you the N word. Because it was out of no where but looking through Tom’s discography. I have two points: 1. I was aware of, and following, Upchurch, before I found Tom, and yet; I was never interested enough to download a song, buy an Album/CD, nor buy any merch from Church. I own all of Tom’s CD’s, have a Tom playlist downloaded onto my phone, and wear multiple Tom T’s, a Tom Hoodie, and a Tom winter hat. 2. Church just showed his disrespect nature, and his lack of couth, in this track, in general, with it’s unprovoked disgusting attack, but what’s more, his use, not referencing, of the N-word! I was raised that the N-word was a “bad word” as a kid, and it was more than a culture shock to discover, when I joined the Navy, that there were actually Black people calling each other that. The black people that I grew up with, and around, never used it, that I am aware of, and they were friends. Therefore…. Church lost a RU-vid follower, when this Diss track dropped!

…except Voldemort was a self imposed name used to create fear in others while another word (that will not be named) was a derogatory name created by some to create fear in others about a group that never consented to be called that name in the first place. If fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself, then wide use of the name is the remedy… I don’t think that is the solution in this case.

I don't say this word, as I try not cuss, and it's not a "hill I want to die on", but it was been shown time and time again that exposure to that which is traumatic aids in the healing process. The book The Body Keeps Score is an excellent resource full of studies proving that point if interested.

Tom was featured on the Church track Travelers, along with Struggle. Its a great song, Tom and Church chatted a bit in the comments. They seemed cool. Church has since removed the song from his channel. Church started in on Tom a while back when Tom released The System. Church posted a video calling it demonic and referencing Tom being Canadian talking about American problems. Church has also posted videos about someone giving out his personal home address, saying it had ro be someone close to him. Hes mentioned it possibly being ACAL or Struggle. Honestly looking at Churches IG posts, he doesnt seem ok. Hes been dicked over by someone, and doesnt seem to know who, so hes lashing out at everyone. It's unfortunate. Doubtful Tom will respond. In his recent livestream promoting Facts, all questions regarding Upchurch were being deleted rather quickly. Plus, Tom has said he wont do another diss track specifically targeted at an individual. He seems to be fine with doing tracks like No Response, Don't Look Down, Riot, and Bite My Tongue (unreleased, but he used it in a fairly recent YT or FB short).

The Nelson Mandela line is low key hard af. Nelson Mandela apparently died in prison, but a lot of people remember him dying outside of prison through respiratory failure. The Mandela effect originated and got its name through that. It is also a play on chokehold Nelson Mandela because his death from not breathing Upchurch also had a song he made with Tom called Travelers that he deleted and someone asked him about it and he said it never happened.

Yea, I'm the same way man. I grew up as a white kid with a bunch of black kids. They loved it when I said the n word, and they'd bring in clothes, and made sure I was dressed properly. They got me from like 5th grade to 12th grade in their group and had me saying the n word every other word like them. It's weird, you have to earn it, like I'd be in the group talking, and another white kid walk over and try and say it and it wouldn't go well. It really matters who you hang with and the cred you get from them. Like, I wouldn't say it around anyone I didn't know like that, it was only in that town where they covered me. That was just a random drop just because he wanted to sound tough and try and get away with it. Had it been a line where it fit, I'd understand more, but it was just the last word he called him. Plus, he ain't from that type of place, he country and hang with white dudes.
