#HOG in the house. I am a 62 year old white gut and came across Tom by accident 3.5 years ago. Back in my younger days, when i was 26 in 1987, i moved to Anaheim, CA to help a friend who had aa 3 store franchise of Domino's Pizzas. He had a store in Compton that was losing $6k a month. This was in 1987, when the crack epidemic and rise of the street gangs started. I knew where i was going but just ignorant enough to take the job. I got an education and a half for the year that i was their and have all kinds of crazy stories from that time. But i am glad for that experience. But the reason i share is i was shocked by how many folk in their 40's and 50's who had NEVER been outside of the city. It shouldn't have, because i Grew up in Iowa until 20, but i lived in a city of 80,000m which is large in those areas. Being city raised, i did not grow up on a farm, but was close enough to where we all were very familiar with rural life. But i came to understand that there were country folk who were shy about city life and would avoid it if at all possible. The point i am getting to, these woke, cancel culture censorship idiots, if you say the wrong thing, they try to harass you and ruin your life. People who have no real life experience with different people and cultures, form their beliefs either on other peoples experiences which are biased, or on how they are portrayed in tv, movies and the news. I have been ignorant and said ignorant things at times. And it was having conversations with folks with different viewpoints that helped me to adjust that belief. The problem with the woke crowd is they are shutting down the conversations that can remedy the problem. What they are actually doing is creating more of what they hate because they are reinforcing the negative beliefs, and people then dig in. These folk, not all but many, are in a cult and will not even allow a discussion. But the answer is not keeping quiet, and that is why i think Tom is a godsend, to empower people to not be bullied by these useful idiots, who do not realize they are following the orders of people who do despise our liberty and freedoms. And as far as calling people racist. People say a lot of dumb shit. But it used to be that talk is cheap. But if a person backs up the talk with actions that are intended to hurt and harm a group, then that is a legit racist. Appreciate your takes. Peace.
Wow I truly appreciate your take on on this and your views on the “woke” crowd I have to admit I’ve never thought about it like that before. Your story of growing up in a rural community and sharing your experiences with different cultures in the work place and admitting to learning and seeing new things was a great thing to share and I want to say thank you.
