he doesn't push skateboarding, he doesn't care how good he is, he doesn't practice tricks, he just skates. and that's what's insane about Tom. How good he is only cause of pure natural talent.
there are very few skaters that you can say where you just want to see them skate you dont really pay attention to what exact trick they are doing but you are still always in awe when you watch him. his style is so laid back and mellow its insane
Same clothes, same hair, same tunes, same SIKK AS FUKK style....! .....this man will ALWAYS be my Skateboarding hero, even though that would probably not concern him in the slightest! :D
damn feeling this music, thank you for sharing. Tom Penny is one of my favorite skaters growing up and i still look up to his style. I was 16 when I saw Flip sorry, now i'm 28
that first clip of that little line he did filmed from the roof , its just perfect, the place, the sound of the birds, the people placement , the guy that gets impressed by the 360 flip, and the car that comes after penny, its like a movie, really sick part
I remember when this vid came out. I was hyped for new penny footage, i still watch it to get in the mood for a session. Vincent alvarezs part is such a great watch too.
0:35 man that lil line or w.e youd call it from the opening where hes just ridin around carvin around the pylon/poles w.e to the tre.......you can tell he loves skating about as much as day 1 as ever.....the purity the greatness that is tom penny
Great video. After reading the information about filming it, i had to rewatch it right away. More skate history in Tom Penny's skateboard timeline. Thank you...
After second watch i forgot to mention i love how it ends. He aplogizes for being done and fades back to obscurity and legend. Not sure how often any footage was dropping around this time but it seemed periodic at best until recently?
that beanie is a damn inner-circle of understanding amongst skateboarders, he made his mark before skateboarding was even really gaining any notoriety in society, the shit he did over the chain back in the day was far, far ahead of what was being done by one , let alone at one spot, in one session, all NBD's. I definitely always recognize him on account of the beanie with the visor. Like it's still popular, skate trollin around, terrorizing any and every major city he might be visiting.
flanzashreddah That was legendary but I think he changed skateboarding more when it comes to gaps and jumping down stairs and even over rails. The way he does switch kickflips and frontside switch kickflip over rails in his etnies part is something that wasn't done before that. I think that video is from 97 and just a few years ago people were rolling around on small wheels doing weird ledge tricks and everything was very slow. Then this guy comes and just does a kickflip over a 10 stair in a line. I think that's his biggest contribution to skateboarding. And is not only that he did it but the way he did it. Everything looked so relaxed and legit. He's a legend and a first ballot hall of famer.
Every now and again i need to watch this part. Its so nice how the music and the skating go together. Plus seeing Tom legacy carrying. The arm steeze at the first 5-O frontside out is amazing. And the quote at the end!! Everything is.
Thanks Steven! From what Tom has told me, this was the first part he got to work with a filmer on. We chose the music together and he had the idea for the intro of his skating down the alley. Unbelievable and amazing spirit. The definition of a legend and I've met quite a few, none can compare. Magic.
I remember my first skate vid Uno. I don’t know how many times I watched his part. In 2020 Tom Penny is still my favorite skater. Penny + skateboard = Picasso + paint brush. I love this mans style.
It's like when you're riding in a car and you look out the window at all the buildings go by. And you start to skate those buildings and curbs in your mind or even with your fingers, squinting one eye. It's all one glorious line. You never fall. It doesn't even cross your mind. Thats how Tom Penny skates.
The reason he is a legend and the thing that separates Tom from other legends is that he doesn't have to be mainstream to be famous on the skate scene. The skate scene is the one who chases Tom.
thats Penny the ole G HE still has more style then he knows what to do with hes been skatin since before most the kids skating today even knew what a skateboard is. PENNY

It's strange to think that normal people out there are sitting on ledges or benches and they are seeing this legend do his thing and they have no clue.
