Mohawk elder Tom Porter (Akwesasne Mohawk Nation) in conversation with German journalist and activist Claus Biegert on 2 May 2019 at the Klanghaus (House of Sounds) in Klein Jasedow. Tom is sharing peacemaking stories of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy), while the opening and closing sequences feature Tom’s son Henes singing the »Friendship Song« and playing the water drum. Tom’s visit to Klein Jasedow marked the beginning of his tour trough Europe in May and June 2019, initiated and facilitated by Claus Biegert, founder of the Nuclear-Free Future Award. Klein Jasedow is a hamlet on the coast of the Baltic Sea in northeastern Germany and home to one of Germany’s longest-lasting intentional communities. An abridged transcript of the conversation will be published in German translation in Oya magazine (54/2019).
