Unfortunately my addiction has won with us, I left you hand to mouth and started using again. I’ve hurt you and lied to you so many times that I think I will never be fully able to forgive myself. My boyfriend and I are isolating separately and the other day he briefly stopped by mine on a bikeride. I stood in the doorway and he stood a safe distance away on the pavement. We kind of just gazed into each other for a while, as the couples in this video do, except we couldn't embrace. It was so difficult!

I love how this version is so much different to the original. This sounds more from a retrospective point of view, looking back on the good times you've spend with a person after they are gone. The original is more about living in the moment with that person. The original is joyous and full of life while this one carries the sound of a heartbreak. It's super interesting how the tone and speed of a song can change the meaning of it in my eyes!

This song means so much for me, because just 2 weeks before quarantine i met the boy I've fallen in love. During almost 2 months of separation we used to spend even 6h hours a day on talking, wathing films, planning, I even read fables for him for goodnight at times. When we finally could meet, on 21st of April we officialy became a couple (it was one of the happiest days in my life). Before I left home we listened to this song. It was the first time I showed him this masterpiece and now, even if we're not together due to his mental issues and substance abuse, this song makes me wanna cry and turn back in time when we were just hugging, watching sunset and listening to that song. Dominik, even if we will never be together anymore i wish you the best in life and i will be so unexplainably peaceful when i hear that you're free from addiction, healthy, safe and just happy.
