As a longtime Tokyo Disney park fan, I would say I felt the parade was a small scale compared to previous ones, but the dancers finally came back after the pandemic, and their energy and smile made a huge difference. Also, no social distancing between characters, and Mickey and Minnie dancing, hugging, and kissing in the same float. The upbeat music, colorful costumes, fully smiling other guests without being required to wear masks, and all of this parade's elements let me immerse in Disney magic and the celebration of the 40th anniversary. Thank you Tom for a great review!
I imagine the best way to describe it is that harmony in colour is a covid parade but it is an OLC covid parade. Hence why it still has the attention to detail and feel of a Tokyo parade but as you said feels smaller scale. Obviously Japan kept covid restrictions longer than the west so this parade would have started planning when everything was perfect just to be slapped with COVID and then things being slowly wound down again over the last year leading to the 40th.
@@dansrandomvideos2515 Good analysis, I agree. I see many Japanese fans are pretty happy about the parade overall and saying it's a celebration of the post-pandemic as well. At the same time, I often hear complaints against OLC not putting many decorations around the park like 35th or not bringing back shows and street performers that disappeared due to the pandemic. By the way, OLC finally allowed guests to hug characters at parks from today, which became a national news lol I enjoy learning about the American perspective and contrast with Japanese ones :)
@@HarmonyinColor At least we haved a castle decoration I guess is a good trade in that perspective The 35th had the projection shows, the statue of Mickey in his different anniversary costumes and the confetti cannons but the castle was entirely naked
Thanks for this latest honest review. Harmony in Color looks great. On the other end of the scale, I think you're too kind regarding Magic Happens. I agree that the Coco float is great, but the rest of "that" parade does nothing for me. Not a fan of the music, the choreography, or the overall look. I guess my bucket list trip to Tokyo needs to be bumped up in the calendar!
I admit I'm not a huge parade person, but Tokyo's parade looks on a par with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (minus a lot of shivering people). There's a lot of genuine care and enthusiasm here and it shows.
I watched the soft opening version and also the actual debut version. I did notice some slight changes with some of the choreography. However, it isn't a big deal and won't notice unless you really paid attention to both versions. I am glad there is a nod to the Tinkerbell movie with Fly to your Heart in this parade
Why don't they ever ship some of these parade floats to other Disney Parks once they've had their run (MSEP excepted)? I would love to see some of these floats (from all the parks) get rotated around so that people all over the world can see these beautiful creations. I remember, here at Disneyland, we got a float from Tokyo Disneyland that was added to Sensational toward the latter part of it's run and it was great. So long as the floats fit within the dimensions of the various parade routes. A "foreign-exchange-student" program for the various floats (and music) would both be economical AND new to those at the various destinations. They clone rides, how about instead of cloning parade floats, just send them on tour? Various Broadway shows have touring productions, so how about the floats go touring as well. It is a huge show, after all. So why not put it on tour for as long as it remains popular?
Too early to tell for Dreaming up but both Happiness and Jubilation sent floats over. Paris, Hong Kong, Anaheim and Orlando have received floats from one of these two.
Thanks for another great review! I’ll admit that Dreaming Up! Will always be a special favorite to me from so many personal reasons. Even though I only had a very small connection with unit in this, I was so proud of Bradley Kaye stepping up to the role of Creative Director for this epic project. I’ve seen his genius up close for so many decades and it’s great to see him get his chance to shine so brightly!
Harmony In Color Parade Is Fantastic, For Me I Take This At The First Place, Alongside With Happiness Is Here, Dreaming Up At The Second Place And Stars On Parade At The Third Place ❤
I still love Magic Happens and am desperately hoping to get to see it in person. I think that despite its being short, it might be the parade that’s hit me the hardest. So I hate looking at Magic Happens vs this and using it as a “Magic Happens sucks” way instead of a “American Disney is just always worse.” You’re right in that this blows it OUT OF THE WATER, and upon rewatching Magic Happens during the course of the video it does weaken it in a way that upsets me, but rather than a knock against what is my favorite American parade I’m trying to take it as yet another instance of magic coming alongside money in Asia where it never does here.
I was at Disneyland for the first time and I just happened to be at Main Street getting ice Cream when Magic Happens was coming down the street and it was so short when it ended I was surprised that it was over already.
Best Disney parade for me is the Lion King day parade at Disneyland. Best parade break EVER! Highest energy live entertainment Disney has ever produced IMHO!
The Petals in Finale they're also have some Characters like Tiana, Mirabel, Genie, Stitch, Lightning McQueen, Sadness, Olaf, 22 (Soul), Simba, Wall-E, Luca
i like tangled also huge pocahontas fan sense 1 came out i collect vintage mattel dolls of her and toys and adult fashions when they ome out also love merida from brave
So I Was Thinking in the Final Float In Harmony In Color What's Gonna be After the Anniversary. Yes they have the Anniversary Logo which is the "40" so I think they're gonna Have "D" (In Disneyland Cursive/Just like In Dreaming Up in the opening unit) or the Cursive "D" Which is they Use Disney or Something Else Like Rainbow
We had the great fortune to visit Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea late April of 2023, we were almost in the exact same spot this video was taken from - we both were amazed by this parade and loved it all! Everything you said is on-point here, between this and the amazing DIsneySea show, it's almost worth making a pilgrimage to Tokyo Disney to see these two shows with premium viewing spots. I also loved the music even though this video is without.
This is a beautiful parade!! Their costumes the music is so amazing!!! I wish the Disneyland and Disney World parade would make people sit so everyone can see the fun🎉🎉
It's a pretty and beautiful parade for the 40th anniversary tho The anniversary this time around is pretty low key in comparison to the happiest celebration in terms of decorations and entertaiment But hey That doesn't mean the parade is bad either It is really good
For me the parade is not as memorable as Dreams on Parade, Jubilation!, Happiness is Here and Dreaming Up, the song is boring, the floats look very cheap and the costumes are great but at the same time very meh
I got to say (I am NOT a parade person, but, I like cool floats) these floats look very simple with their Tokyo Disney movable parts. But, in the USA we do floats on a much grander and larger scale. I think the finale float was awesome but, all the other floats were just blah. They aren't bad for Disney parade floats but, they are nothing special. They're not the steampunk dragon from Festival of Fantasy, any float from Paint the Night, and Moana and Sleeping Beauty from Magic Happens. Now again the parade is not bad it just isn't better than Festival of Fantasy, Paint the Night, and Magic Happens. Again I am NOT a parade person but like cool floats 🤣. I would give it a 6/10.
