I still have this vinyl and put it on a cd for the lack of using the record. Freeken great album I heard it for the first time on NPR in the car on a road trip and stop into the next music store and got the LP Kinda like Grover W. Jr. in Wine light they just don't seem to be the band out playing those types of shows. Thanks for posting this!

Had the great pleasure of working and talking many times with Ralph MacDonald and we always covered this album. He said it was one of his favorites in terms of live recordings. RIP Ralph you were a great friend.

I was living in NYC in the early 80's - loved to listen to TS (really) brought a city vibe to my day...

This album is great! Twangy bass strings, Energetic sax, and zesty drums. And it walks you out with a nice mellow tune.

The guys a musical hero of mine!! Growing up before the digital age I would race to record shop ( Yea there were stores that only sold vinyl records back then) and plop down $7 on the newest album release by T.S. Not only was he a pioneer in the jazz funk fusion area he wrote produced recorded so many theme songs for popular tv shows.

This was the title track of Tom Scott's 1983 album (the picture). It does not originate on the above mentioned album! Love this album. It's been my favourite funk album for 28 years - ever since it was released.

I used to have this album, it was one of my most played records, superb cast of musicians they just don't do this sort of concert anymore...

Still have the original vinyl, one of my favorite LPs back then and even now! Ive listened to this opening song so many times; its a part of me. Amazing, I keep on thinking how great would it be to put a band together that plays only this style of music. The only thing I would change about this song is to vary TSs endnote at the end of each phrase. Surprisingly enough, the high musicianship and other elements of the song seem to hide the fact this melody can be slightly monotonous.

It has Eric Gale, Richard Tee, Steve Gadd and Ralph MacDonald. Gale, Tee and Gadd was Stuff and Paul Simon band. Tunes; Late in the evening, 50 ways, and the movie One Trick Pony. They were kickin it long before Spyro Gyra.

@whenairhitsyourbrain Recorded live January 15-16-17 1981 at The Bottom Line, NYC and I agree, what a great tune! I love this album. My dad bought it for me in 1981 and I wore my first copy out and bought another around 1990!

I see people already replied, reeentttry, but anyway. On this great live album you have: Scott, Hugh McCracken, Eric Gale, Richard Tee, Miller, Gadd, MacDonald. Plus Dr John's vocals on one track (So White and So Funky) :D

@coachcdobbs Absolutely! R. Tee on keys! Unique sound and cool FX (sounds like a phaser to me) and of course his unmistakeable touch. The man was a genius also on piano and Hammond! BTW: I'm a total Tom Scott fan. Usually, when I talk about Tom Scott to fellow musicians (I play the keys), they throw other names back at me which are "better". I don't see the point. I really love his playing. What he does, he does beautifully and with confidence. BTW: love the unusual three bar phrasing!

Hari - Harrison played slide guitar for the track "Appalonia" from Tom's New York Connection album, from 1975. Def. check it out - great stuff. Desire I have, but it's nothing special. Which is a shame b/c this album - Apple Juice - is great. I wish I could've been at The Bottom Line for this.
