Hey Dana, thank you for such a nice comment! The reason why there is no “clean version” is that no two templates end up being the same. Keep in mind that every single game (heck, even here, every deck) is a DIFFERENT size. So there isn’t just one template that can be colored that will work for other things. Making them for different decks/games is VERY complicated... BUT, I just use a table in Microsoft word. If you’re interested in that, I think you could kind of look at one unfolded, then create a table that would have the same number and columns that you want. Then just hide the borders for the parts you don’t want. That’s always have I start. Then it’s a lot of trial and error to get the sizes right.

I don’t really know how to show it... let me see if I can tell you.... It usually starts with an idea that I might sketch down on a regular paper, just so I have something to visualize. Then, looking at my sketch I count how many rows and columns it would take to make that thing work.... and I go into word and I create a table. Then, again, referring to the sketch, I start erasing lines in the table so I get the general shape I need. From there I start measuring the cards and adjusting the heights and widths of the cells so that they are the right size. I’ll usually print that off, cut and fold to try it out, and make sure my measurements are the way I want them. If not, I adjust.... Final step is artwork. More often than not I just take a picture of the art using my phone (and a scanning app), then transfer that to my computer, and put it where it needs to go. So that’s really it! It’s seriously just a lot of trial and error and tweeking until things eventually come out the way I want them to....

If you’re experiencing this, my best guess is that when you went to print it, your settings were “fit to page” or some kind of percentage scale that was less than 100%. Try printing one box again, but as you do watch carefully and make sure you print “actual size” or 100%…. I hope that helps!
