Yes, indeed, thank you RU-vid for bringing us such an immense musical joy to our fingertips. Many years ago, I could afford to pay my tickets to concert halls but never dared to tear infront of the audience. Today, at 73, still managing life but with no access to concert halls, I gratefully devour RU-vid's gifts at home and, most of all, I cry freely.❤
You should not fear tearing in public. It is not shameful. It is simply another form of appreciation. Your eyes rendering applause in ways your hands simply cannot.
This is not Baroque, it is Romanticism more than a hundred years ahead of its time! It has always been one of my all-time favorite pieces of music. Divine, sublime, perfect!
That is SO true. When I first heard it, it absolutely did not sound of its day. It foreshadows the kinds of expression seen in late Mozart/early Beethoven works.
@@michelerossi1727 " the real author of this song is Remo Giazotto born in 1910" Ho letto di questa cosa,ha molta importanza?,io credo che sia un capolavoro comunque,Albinoni o Giazzotto il risultato non cambia...

Greetings from Adelaide, Australia 🇦🇺 4/3/2024. This is one of the most beautiful, emotive pieces of music ever written. And, the most magnificent live performance, ever. I first heard this many years ago, on the soundtrack to the movie Gallipoli, and it broke my heart 💔 Thank you, Tomasino Albinoni. ❤ I wish you all a wonderful 2024. Cheers, Sophie. 🍸🍺🍷

We Orthodox Christians believe in something called joyful sadness. A sadness for sin and a joy for God's forgiveness. This music makes me feel joyful sadness .
To be fair, the "Adagio in G minor" was actually composed in 1945 by the Italian-born musicologist Remo Giazotto. Giazotto, who at that time was working collecting information on the work and life of Tomaso Albinoni, said he had found among the ruins of the Dresden State Library (destroyed after the fierce bombardment during World War II) a supposed manuscript fragment in which so only the bass staff and six bars of the melody appeared, attributing it to the famous Italian author. From there (according to the musicologist himself) he worked on arranging and finishing the composition, resulting in said work, which was published for the first time in 1958. Musical experts from all over the planet agree that the famous Adagio in G minor is an entirely original composition and composed entirely by Remo Giazotto, who died on August 26, 1998, remaining as its discoverer and without receiving nor enjoy due recognition in life as the author of such a great composition.
Either way, big doubts: Why did not Remo Giazotto give his name to such a brilliant composition? Why? Maybe because he was just a coward ? The Adagio is always associated with the name Albinoni! „It will forever remain for the whole world the "Albinoni Adagio". That's life. Many musicians think Giazotto was a coward, he did not have the courage to write a tonally beautiful classic baroque hit under his name. He himself, he alone is to blame! And surely he himself thought Albinoni sounds more interesting and more beautiful than Giazotto? (right, too) He found his own name too uninteresting. Can you imagine the Beatles have released one of their ingenious songs under the name Schubert ? - Can anyone imagine that Paul McCartney would have named Hey Jude or Yesterday as composer Elvis Presley? (or Franz Schubert) So stupid can not be a genius composer. Remo G. is himself to blame...whoever comes too late punishes life. C'est la vie! „And why do not we know another great work by Giazotto?“ (there is nothing, no beautiful or brilliant music !, absolutely nothing) Did he really compose it? (or a friend ?, or one of his students?) big doubts. And our version is an absolutely new arrangement without organ.
Yes you make some valid points. The full provenance of this incredible masterpiece will remain forever a mystery. Maybe, to be fair to him, he credited Albinoni because the pieces he found were the foundations of the music that he then arranged. So maybe he was loyal in crediting him. And that woukd expla9n why he never produced anything else of that calibre.@@MusicArtstrings
It's a beautiful piece for a funeral. It sometimes makes me cry even though I've never heard it at any funeral or similar. Just the thoughts of my innocent childhood coming back to me, because that's where I first heard this song
@@jacketylon I guess.. maybe.. judt msybe this is the most beautiful and tragic piece ever crested in music history. Really.. the main descending segment (first minute) is tragedy made into music.
I needed this tonight. My youth, ambition, and hairline have forsaken me for brighter shores... My waistline and taste for music lie intact, thankfully.

This always takes me back to September 11th, 2001, standing on the Jersey side of the port and watching the second plane crashing into the World Trade Center and holding my mother as she wept, we all wept. I’ll never forget hearing the 911 calls of the men and women trapped in the buildings above the impact zone hearing in their voices that they knew they would never hug their loved ones again 😢

I must agree with you. But in this world were idiot trumpists just want to spew idiocy and hate and Putin wants to invade his neighbour just because its him, its difficult.... and yes pieces like this suffers in these times.
I first heard the Adagio at 18 yrs old; I’m now 56… one of the most beautiful meaningful pieces of music I have ever heard. This is a superb performance.
I played this piece every morning on the way to college classes, back in the 80's. It's the most beautiful piece I've ever heard. (Instant inspiration and rapture on a cassette of hits from 1710). Love and hope still reigns!❣
There was a world where children listened to music like this.. 17th through 20th century Europe, from which arose the most vast and brutal wars the world has ever seen, and strew violence, plague, and devastation on humankind. Thanks a lot Albinoni!

When I was a young dancer I'd go into the studio by myself and play this. I felt like I was floating, not even touching the floor. I still feel that way now. Thank you for posting this sublime music!
About three years ago, a family pet was about to die. I had recently heard of the concept of playing classical music to those near death as a comfort. So I thought it might be comforting to our pet dog as her time ran out. I played several short classical pieces lasting about 15 minutes. Then I played this adagio during which our sweet pet passed away. What a delight to know this was the last thing she ever heard.
