Red snapper sounds like something you’d get on a burger at a road side cafe 😂. The Costelluto Genovese were one of my favourites. Robin and I both thought the Traveller was bla, now isn’t that funny you really liked them. I have several dwarf varieties from Carmel Bella farm 😉😉 I’m trying next season. Great update as always Steve, have a super day tomorrow, Ali 🌦️🌞🇨🇦
I had a Red Snapper fish at a restaurant in Montseraat (before the volcano) - it put me off whole fish on a plate for life - so many bones! Funny how seeds vary with these open-pollinated ones. I love Reistetomate, you guys so-so, Danny gave me Brad's Atomic which I found bland (and red fruits) yet the BA seeds Robin sent me this year grew into proper colour, tasty, toms!
Mine are saved seeds but Vital Seeds sell them: vitalseeds.co.uk/product/tomato-santiam-sunrise-organic/? No beetroot salad, sorry, but this relish is lovely! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2XuRN_h8YTg.html
What !!!!!!!!!! 7/10 for my Tomato should change the name to Diggies Crazy Cherry 🤣🤣see what i put on the end, of that the word Cherry as that's the full name/title of it Barrys Crazy Cherry😁 Great video by the way and i might see if i can get the Blue Beauty and the Santium Sunrise seeds for next year are they both inside or outside growing? Have yourself a great week mate 👍 Barry (not so crazy 😂) (Wirral)
LOL I left the word cherry off on purpose cos techically the plant is a multiflora with plum fruits PMSL I grow the Blue Beauty and the Santium Sunrise outdoors, like all my main tomatoes so not too sure how they would do in a greenhouse etc I'll be saving some of each so remind me in a few months if you need any 🙂
I agree the Red Snapper was a bit bland. It was my 1st time growing them also and I won't grow them again. Summer Pick produces a tomato about the same size as Red Snapper but has better flavor. I might look for the Blue Beauty you liked.
Good to know, Steve. I found it strange how the place selling Red Snapper concentrated on the plants ability to grow and the size/color of the tomatoes. Hardly a mention of the taste LOL Thanks for the seeds anyway buddy. Let me know if you need some Blue Beauty!
@@DigwellGreenfingers I found the seeds on the Baker Creek web site, so I will be good there. They are an OP variety, so saving the seeds won't be a problem.
Res. Pocketbook not a flavor I dig and mealy. However, I gave a plant to a friend and it's his favorite this year. I do like the Costoluto Genevese, as they are a great producer and marvelous roasted. The Santium sunrise is a keeper for me too. The flavor has improved as the season progressed. Almost and orange tang to them. No splitting and great hang time on the vine, which is not typical for a cherry type. They also keep a minute on the counter. TToP was slow to start but sooooo tasty. Mine are smaller this year. I need to get outside and work the garden now before the heat destroys me. Still a drought here and August temps, amazing. Red Snapper seems to be grown by the southern gardeners here in the US as it can take the heat, and still set fruit. Holds up for the market farmers. I never hear anyone rave about the flavor though.
As I was saying on Ali's comment: I wonder if it is all down to the seeds? My Reistetomate are divine. You sent me Brad's Atomic which grew like BA and tasted great whereas Danny's seeds grew into red tomatoes that were mah! Yes, my TToP were maga slow this year but growing and fruiting well now and I agree that the taste better later! Have a great week Robin 🙂
Hi I've just been over to nicks allotments and see that he hasn't put any videos up for a couple of year. Has he stopped making videos now? And I think I'll be trying a few of those varieties next year. I am yet to find a large tomato that is full of flavour. They all seem to be very watery so if you have any suggestions I would be very grateful. Thanks
