Is it really a cylinder though? Because for it to be a cylinder, the land would have to be completely flat, and I assumed you were on some kind of planet, which is spherical, so the cylinder shape would not be able to lay flat on a sphere, therefore it must either be a 'flat earth' so to speak, or the 'cylinder' would actually be some kind of revolving donut shape.
