He's a great guy indeed, I had the pleasure to attend to a seminar (tkd an kick-boxing) held by him in Spain. He's a great fighter and knows how to teach as well. And he's a nice person too.

Done Taekwon-Do for years. Tomaz Barada is good because what he is doing is Kickboxing. Taewkon-Do is a serious waste of time, energy and money. Your comment about no defence or arm-work is spot on. And no practicing blocks on thin air doesnt count as training your defence.

Yeah, Willy's the best. His trainings are... amazing... I also train under Chris Eikenhorst, a good friend of Willy, they got some of their Dan-titles together. Though Chris stopped for a while and is now 6th Dan, while Willy is a 7th Dan. Going to train right now, can't wait to get totally exhausted... :D Taekwon.

I think you should keep the crusade going i you have the energy for it. I agree with you completely. There is no such thing as a bad martial art, and any martial art i better than none self-defence wise. As to what you learn in TKD I think it varies clubwise. We learned different sorts of stuff, but were very focused on kicks and very little punching, and what you see in this video is basically hitting people with your fist.

@XxNate831xX tkd should never be used for aggression outside of the dojang, your senior sounds like he is not truly committed to tkd, a senior should help lower grade students, not intimidate them , this is not the tkd way, think the round house was a good move in this case.............. :o)

@dillyfitz haa haa.... "scores"? haa haa.... I'm talking about who's actually the better fighter. Further, you need to look at his 98 and earlier videos. He scores hits all the time. You can't compare his older out of shape videos when he's now a teacher with 7 schools with the other guys prime. And by the way, no it's not just about flashy kicks guy.... I'm a lot more experienced than that. haa haa Anyway, enjoy.

This is what good sparring is all about: anticipation, and choosing the most effective kicks and hand blows, none of the movie-like crap that ends you up kicking in the air and undefended. A true master of the art.
@TakeshiMomoshiro

Basically, ITF's the good kind of TKD. Some say it's a focus on more of the traditional TKD art, like hyongs, which are basically like patterned forms...but really, it also teaches the most practical form of self defense offered by Tae Kwon Do. It teaches solid combinations of strikes and kicks... And let's the flow of the fight really occur freestyle. It differs from the sporty WTF... There's no pad armor or anything, only gloves and foot guards. Trust me, it's the TKD you want to take.

I would love to see any of the haters even try touch this guy on a fight. I met him in person, and even after retiring hes an amazing fighter. By the way, if you compare him with overexaggerated movies then obviously you will be able to criticise him, but until you understand reality nothing you can do. I mean, watch videos of great boxers like Muhammad Ali and he doesn't look much like the big thing, but if you happen to fight him... oh dear.

@leeuniverseand just watched ehsan, spectacular kicks, but none scored? well thats just in the 2 videos i watched, see its your inexperience that makes you wrong, barada has nice simple fast combinations, yop, a few punches and then dollyo. simple? yes, but he perfected it and picks up 7 points if he connects with it all, ehsan then throws a big spin thats pleases the crowd and the inexperienced spectators such as yourself, but when it goes to the score card, he gets 0 because he never connected
@dillyfitz
@dillyfitz 14 лет назад
@leeuniverse he has the wako world record of 84 fights without a loss? an thats just at kickboxing world championships, there has been hundreds of people just like you who think they are better, lucky for you he hasnt proved that hes better than you :) hes retired now and would still kick anybody around the mats. you say you have fought but not competed? fighting and sparring are two completely different things, sparring uses the brain and is tactical, fighting is not :)
@TakeshiMomoshiro
@TakeshiMomoshiro 15 лет назад
How so? Did it matter that GSP took BJJ? The only thing it helped him with on the ground was positioning, nothing wrestling couldn't teach. When did I say he passed Penn's guard? Although, YES, he did, on several occassions... Penn was getting mauled. Honestly, blocking shins, & other methods of using legs to keep space between you & your opponent can only do so much... If someone can successfully get side mount position, there's nothing to block their knee or foot from your face.
@RichardsCW
@RichardsCW 15 лет назад
Interesting observation. I mean, this guy is obviously very good and very aggresive, but there is an 'opening' within these attacks. Instead of being more direct, the 'lift' has a choppy approach. His ground technique is insane.
@dillyfitz
@dillyfitz 14 лет назад
@leeuniverse yes scores? this is a sport, ehsan competed and to win you must score, do you understand that? or are you too 'experienced' to understand somthing youve never done
@yannara
@yannara 15 лет назад
I believe that this is a very effective defence on a street fight, and that how it looks like. I don't see pure boxing technique at all here. WTF fights looks much better :)
@leeuniverse
@leeuniverse 14 лет назад
@Jonnyduggs I just gave my view on how not very good he and his opponents were. Sorry if you don't agree. I've watched many fighters fight, I've fought many fighters, and half of those I've fought are certainly better than he. Going to some "tournaments" doesn't mean you are a good fighter, nor one of the "best". Most really "good" martial artists do not compete, they are peaceful warriors. Sorry if you can't understand that.
@leeuniverse
@leeuniverse 14 лет назад
@dillyfitz Fool.... He does score to win, but he prevents the other guy from scoring, and he nocks people out. Brada is half the actual fighter Ehsan is. Anyway, you don't know me, and you clearly can't judge a better fighter outside of the flashy kicks. Look at his around 1998 fights, and you will see in his prime he was WAY above Brada in his prime. Ehsan is faster, has more techniques and powerful techniques, etc. Anyway, believe what you want.
@leeuniverse
@leeuniverse 14 лет назад
@dillyfitz Guy.... I'm a nobody on the net who has no interest in this guy and never even heard of him until I watched some RU-vid martial arts clips. I'm not in the scene, and I don't care one way or another, simply giving my view from my own expertise. By the way, if you don't want to believe me, compare him with Ehsan Shafiq. Even he could clearly kick Tomaz Barada's butt, so compare the two and stop questioning my judgment.
@leeuniverse
@leeuniverse 14 лет назад
@dillyfitz I know I know.... "know-one" who says what I have could actually be telling the truth. Anyway, just gave my observation. Feel free to accept it or not. One other thing, I didn't just spar. I wasn't a cutsie karate kid bouncing around doing lazy american only style martial arts. I've trained hard martial arts, the kind you see in traditional kung-fu movies, so FYI, that's why I tell you he's not that good, and went up against even worse opponents. I know what I'm talking about.
@leeuniverse
@leeuniverse 14 лет назад
@dillyfitz I said I never competed. I didn't say I never fought. It doesn't matter if any of you believe me or not, I can see for myself how good and not he is, compared to others as well as myself. I do hope you know that there are in fact several martial artists in the world who don't compete but are in fact very good. I'm simply stating my experienced judgment. By the way, Bruce Lee never competed, but do you think he could have kicked Chuck Norris's butt who is someone who did compete?
@leeuniverse
@leeuniverse 14 лет назад
Forgive me, I'm watching this and thinking to myself "that's it"??? This guy is actually not that good. He does have a couple of techniques which often connect, but, he seemed to be fighting a bunch of guys that really sucked, and so he didn't suck as bad, but goodness, I never competed, but even I was WAY better than that. I'm not just saying that either, he must have been lucky that have a period of many sucky opponents. Anyway, oh well. Props at least for doing the job.

my compliments. i can only hope i can be that good of a sparrer later on. n my words for ppl's critism, dont judge an art if u havnt done it, simple. i hav my opinions on mma, but i hav no right to say nething coz i havnt done it. all ill say to non-practitioners is that 1. tournaments r a minor part to tkd 2. it doesnt matter wat the style, if there's ne rules, it doesnt live up to a street situation, not even mma

i must say man, i was lookin for a martial art to start practicing when i stumbled upon taekwon...i might have found it interesting, but upon seeing TK fights here on youtube, i have my doubts if it is a usefull style overall for self defense...if all that you posted is correct, then i will start TK right away xD, but if its just about swirly kicks, no defense and arm-work, ill pass...might i get some tips on what kind of TK is best? i heard there are diferent branches and such?
@muchlove59
@muchlove59 15 лет назад
What's the point in learning something as part of your self-defense if you are never going to use it on the street. This is what gets me about tkd and how it has become a sport and not useful self defense style. I watch them spar and and train and it makes my eyes water. Filling kids heads that they are learning something that they can use to protect themselves and then they find out that it simply doesn't work on the street is wrong .
@muchlove59
@muchlove59 15 лет назад
You could say that any percentage no? Just have a look on youtube for example for real fights, street fights etc. How many of them mince around doing twizzle kicks and jumping fairy kicks compared to how many start as punching etc then grappling and then inevitably hit the ground. Having ground skilla and standing skills is absolutely essential, lacking one or the other will land you in trouble if you face an opponent who knows whats he is doing, like a real fighter and not a gym fighter

yeah man, some smaller kid train taekwondo, and i keep bullying them, one day without any thoughts one of them asked me to fight 1 vs 1 - i accepted the challenge. HE KNOCKED ME OUT IN FEW STANCES. whole school laugh at me, hes like a hero in my school. Only after school i punch him from behind. And did the same day after day. Finally he left school. I win!

Mate, shut it. Your the same type who thinks he can get out of an armbar by biting or something. Im not brainwashed by MMA I was brainwashed by Taekwon-Do into wasting 4 years of my life doing patterns instead of learning to hit harder, faster and more accurately and getting into fighting shape.
