For others watching this stream to play, Sterlings character, who jumped into the demons mouth, would not be “annihilated”, it would disappear just like the mist, and the DM would say I will get back to you. This way it does not lead the players to know it is death. Also if someone crawls into the mouth, consider if they set their hands inside to gain support - they won’t find any and will bleed out. If they stick their head in, their body will drop to the ground as all nerves are severed and brain activity ceases.

Great fun to see this played in AD&D as designed, rather than the kinder 5e system.

There's a lot of good that's come from more modern systems, but the old school gameplay and modules have a unique charm to them that just can't quite get captured in 5e. I'm always thrilled when I get to run something old school! Glad you're enjoying the show.

watching new players interact with the orb is always my favorite part of this module. I have killed more players with that stupid orb than anything else in this whole dungeon

8:00 ish. +1 to +3 Magic weapons and armor aren’t necessarily magical and explode - they may simply be very high quality or masterful work. Very light, well balanced, strong materials, etc. think of a Kill Bill Hanzo sword which we consider +3

It was covered long ago in the Sage advice, magic items don't explode when broken unless it states they explode (staff of power or magi).

Yeah that smacks of "I'm familiar with this". Honestly, I've run this 4-5 times over the years and I've never had someone jump in the mouth. Reach in? Poke their head in? Sure. Jump in? No.

I know I'm way late to this stream but I so want to play 1e again! I'm playing PF2e online and it is sooooo rules heavy that it's almost no fun anymore. My GM looks up rules constantly... I really miss the smooth flow you get with AD&D.....

Tim the DM here! Firstly, thanks for watching! The Tomb of Horrors is one of my favorite adventures ever, and probably always will be, so I love sharing this experience with others! I actually run primarily Pathfinder 2e now, and I have to say, I'm surprised to hear of your experience! I've found the game to be very smooth, and allows for a great deal of freeform gameplay, much like AD&D. I'm sorry it's not working out like that for you, though! Here's hoping you land on a game system that perfectly suits your play style!

@@askelarcher3613 Wow I didn't expect you to respond so that was pretty cool. Actually... and I know it sounded like I didn't like PF2 and that's not true. I worded myself wrong kinda. I run Outlaws of Alkenstar with the same group and I have kinda accepted PF2 for what it is, an extremely tactical game. I like a story driven game ( CRish?? ) and that's harder with a more rules heavy system. My GM ( a player in my game ) has relaxed a little and I'm enjoying myself a little more, both as a player and GM. All that said I would've loved to play through the Tomb. Since making my initial comment I have joined a game using the Basic Fantasy system and I'm playing a 0-level funnel in DCC in a couple of days trying that system for the first time. I'm still playing the PF2 games as well. Ashley comes off really rude many times throughout this adventure imho. She's a good player, don't get me wrong...
