This game is still really scary. The style and atmosphere are amazing. The human boss fights used to freak me out most which sounds strange but just a high level of tension on this amazing game
+Brent “Find Solar Power” Martin Well, Tom Raider Anniversary did improve on the first one and is the better game (better controls, better graphics, better sound quality) but it is basically the same story and sets as the first one so I guess I can agree with that.
The space with the hatching demons is the stuff of nightmares. On your way to your objective you never quite knew when you triggered one and sometimes one would fly right into you in a hallway.
Hello! Thanks to a nostalgic tendency i thought it would be nice to play the classic Tomb Raider again after so many years and i did so! To begin with..the game still feels awesome despite its age! That unique sense of isolation combined with the peculiar music inundated me again. Furthermore concerning the thorny issue of the survival of animals inside these forgotten areas i have a theory. If i were to focus primarily on the first levels of Peru the most controversial issue has to do with the existence of dinosaurs in a lost valley somewhere deep inside the mountains. It stands to reason that no dinosaur would be able to survive past the Ice age. Not only would they be unable to find food but even if somehow they endured the grave climate change, there should be thousands of generations of their ilk which should have survived as well until our days in the valley.Consequently it is impossible for the raptors and the T-rex to have undergone the aforementioned process. That leads us to the assumption that the mystic force of Qualopec (who was one of the leaders of Atlantis)is responsible for either their creation or their preservation. Ostensibly he was long dead when Lara entered his tomb to retrieve an artifact, though this is not the case as revealed later.Following this, he could somehow sense the nuclear explosion which took place at the beginning of the story and this may have led his dormant consciense to awake the dinosaurs by means of magic (and perhaps other animals which Lara encounters in the caverns). Moreover i believe some of the inhabitants of Vilcabamba lost their lives in the valley as we can clearly see human skeletons on the ground, though these deaths must have taken place about 500 years ago so the animals in the mountain including the dinosaurs had been awakened again then. Alternatively a more sensible scenario, is that the skeletons may belong to conquistadors who infiltrated the valley ignorant of the perils there, after they took over Vilcabamba which is a true location and constituted the last refuge of the Incan empire (but it is found in a rainforest and not inside a mountain). Well that's my theory! Maybe i should engage in writing scripts!
oooh loved this game sooo much. i think i was 7 or somethin when i played tomb raider the first time. and damn i was always so scared of the giant mutant xD
Mummies and Atlantis aliens are the most terrifying enemies in this game😨Cowboy is actually quite difficult, but mainly because at that time we only had pistols
I love this game. Not only for Lara's bravery but also because women can be just as good and fearless as men and she is always doing it alone far from home. Plus no matter how tired she is she never gives up without a fight.
Anyone remember in one of the tomb raiders. At the start of some level. There was some Frankenstein looking dude, with a baseball bat and dog that comes outta nowhere. That scared the shit out of me as a kid. I wish I could remember which one it was and whatever level so i could see it again somehow.
i think that was Bartoli in Bartoli's Hideout in TR2, he had two dogs with him or that could be any of the baddies in the Venice levels in TR2, they'd have those big wrenches or baseball bats and beat you with them. Their dogs would attack you too. Great memories lol
Poor Lara had a hard life... incredible how every shitty animal, monster, human or whatever wanted to kill her. Even bats or rats. Why? Is she some kinf of Aggromagnet?
I forgot all the human enemies' names lol. Those cat mummies, hatched demons, giant rats and gorillas were the worst. I will say everyone is easier to kill off using the shotgun 😋😁
haha whenever i came into the room with the lions i used to scream and run away from the pc. I dont know why i thought that was the scariest in the game
Long story short... The cowboy, Skater and Shotgun Sam were all Natla's helper's, hence why they weren't far from Natla's trail (she makes an appearance in the following level). Pierre was hired by Natla I think earlier on in the game to recover the artefacts, but since he got killed, Natla seeked to do the job herself with the help of her helpers. Larson at the beginning was a one man team trying to achieve the same as Lara (retrieving all 3 artefacts).
oh its funny how the bad guy the one tht has no legs its funny how he takes u by two fingers and hits u on the ground like a rag doll and dangles u like a rag doll its funny
Yes that's a couple of levels later, I don't get that creatures purpose in the storyline though. I think it's some kind of invention of Natla's. If you watch the cinematics of the game (the video's where characters are talking in scenes) you'll probably figure it out :S
@Lightway Animated Pictures I didn't like a thing. Also what the fuck are you talking about? My comments are 3 years old you shouldn't get so invested in them.
TheGuess2D if you mean the controller then i can see your point but if u mean the actual game controls then i have to disagree I thought they were good not perfect but enough to play the game with but tbf ive been playing it for about 15 years now so i might have just gotten used to them
I loved the early tomb raider games for their mix of adventure and paranormal I think you can call it? now these newer ones are all about female empowerment
