Nostalgia's hitting me hard with this one. I used to watch my dad play this when I was 7 years old. He'd stay up till the early hours playing it (he was stuck on the fire pillars for a very long time) and sometimes he'd let me stay up with him. This didn't make mum too happy when she found out so she soon put an end to that. Then, one night around 2am, I slept walked from my bed to the sofa behind where my dad was playing with my eyes wide open and scared the crap out of him when he turned around. I miss you dad. Tomb Raider 1's theme tune will always remind me of you.
It's good you had good memories of your dad with the game. Anything that keeps us together as family like this is good. This soundtrack will last a lot more lifetimes I'm very sure. Simply enchanting. Hope it brings peace to more people 🙂❤
@@FreerunningHeaven He died suddenly last Christmas with no warning signs. A sudden ruptured aneurysm. Didn't smoke or drink. Taken so soon at 64. It's coming up to a year now. Sorry to hear about your loss. What happened? Hope you're well
you made me cry with this. So sorry for your loss. My boys also watched me play this game before they were old enough to play it themselves. Still the most ground breaking and greatest game of all time.
i just found out that the composer of tomb raider nathan mcree only had 4 weeks to come up with the soundtrack to tomb raider (with also barely any info given to him about the game). he did it all on a synthesizer. the man is a bloody genius in my book. one of the best theme tunes ever (and great in game music too).
Now that's a pro who knows what he's doing. We all thank him for his dedication and focused work over what I find to be in incredibly short amount of time considering the quality and longevity of the work. All of these people are truly legends and I hope they know it, despite Core Design sort of jerking them around after TR became a success.
The levels were vast, the exploration was real, the mystery was around every corner and the music coming on at selected spots elevated that game to perfection.. The new ones have none of that...just quicktime action crap..
The music is honestly timeless, and I do think it's more epic than TR3 and probably all after. It's all fun and games until Egypt, and then it gets evil real fast. But TR2 is impossible to beat imo, it's waayyy too satisfying to kill thugs and Lara and the enemies like big cats aren't a triangle. Ski Do music is epic, and it has a mythical Dragon, great whites, yetis, more T Rex, and LESS of those fucking mutant alien cat shreiking mummy asswipes that knock you into the lava. I mean TR2 has creepy stuff too, like bullet sponge statues, boulders everywhere, Giant Spiders protecting the Godzilla killer's eggsack, and of course the black evil super eel. Pick your poison I guess. At least you can lock Winston in tue freezer and see Lara about to shower. She's only a flirt with Larson and in the commercials I guess.
@@Lazar_STS True, the last game I liked in the Core years was the Last Revelation. I tried the new serie (after 2012 or 2013) but for me it is not Tomb Raider anymore (sorry if I made mistakes, i am learning english).
@@Lazar_STS I remember the level in Japan with Lara on the roofs. Good memories. The spirit of Lara was still there even if it was the first remaster and I prefered the classics but there was still a soul. I don't know how to explain better.
Just finished the first game the other day and I only agree, the moments where the music kicks in are purely magical, even in 2022, as well having been raised on Legend onwards, the sense of wonder and curiosity is unbeatable, even with modern graphics, just trying to discern what "used to be" in those levels is super cool.
Normally I am not a game player, but this theme is the one I can never forget. I had the game cd maybe twenty years ago and played the sound track then the melody stayed in my heart for so many years till now, I got it again. A beautiful memory...
This was such a great time to be a young gamer. Very bitter-sweet memories looking back on this period of my life playing Tomb Raider for the first time.
This was the best time to be a young gamer. The beginning of 3D games era, each month new title doing something the first time... Very romantic and pristine time to be a kid...
Wow, Nathan Mccree is a musical genius. The T-Rex music still gives me goosebumps to this day! He is one of my inspirations when I make music. The whole OST has so much depth; a bittersweet meloncholic feel, with a mix of mystery, adventure, and intrigue. Masterpiece!
Track 6. Longing For Home - for me is arguably better than the main theme. But it's so damn short, however if any longer would probably lose some magic. ..Sidenote: Works better when it plays in Sanctuary of Scion than when it's first introduced to us in Palace Midas I feel.... don't know why - maybe because Sanctuary Of Scion just feels so desolate. At least you had friendly ape creatures in the Palace ;-)
The first sound it’s take me to the past with gold moments, that’s I never forgotten, and I remember my brother when he played the first part of Tomp Rider 🥺🤍🤍
I met the guy whom wrote some of the music for this game in Worcester, in a Pub called the Pub, in about 2002-5 he was a bar man he told me they got no royalties for the work the did :-(
I can’t wait for this game it’s coming on the PS5 console for the first time can’t believe it I’m per ordered it soon it’s only 24:99 pretty cheap Tomb Raider 1/2/3 remastered OMG theses Games are a masterpiece and the soundtrack is well masterpiece
Sounds very crisp and clean.......Nice. For Me when I first went into the Tomb first door with the arrows and just looking and hearing, was like being born to a higher lvl. What a great game! Many hours spent with friends enjoying this game.
The best game ever for me. A timeless masterpiece in terms of game design, music and entertainment. A challenging game that takes you to an amazing adventure. The character of Lara Croft will remain as a legend in the 3D videogames history.
Whats crazy is that most of you were quite young when the trilogy came out and it had a big effect on you with the soundtrack and the immerse game play, well i was 26 years old when i came across the game, much older than most but im telling you this soundtrack had the same effect on me, it just moves me to this day, what an incredible accomplishment by its creator to be able to reach so many gamers regardless of age or playing ability. Masterpiece.
Legendary soundtrack, the main menu gets me every time. Also when you see a lion or gorilla that (sound time to run)….is straight memories back to when I was a little 5 year old kid playing this game. The memories from longing from home with the Midas touch🥹🥹 LEGEND GAME!!!
Can remember my mum buying this for me the first time in 1997! Maaan it was a biiiiig platinum seller for the 90’s. Straight away Hollywood wanted the rights to Tomb Raider, pretty sure they were trying in 1998, 2 years after it came out!
Before the days of high definition gaming, development teams had to use more imagination in bringing the games to life through the soundtrack, game plots which really came through. Unlike today , larger teams overworked and the magic is just lost
I still have fond memories of watching my dad play this game when I was 5 years old. I'm 28 now and I've carried on this tradition by playing Uncharted while my niece and nephew watch.
I cannot quite explain the way this makes me feel but it's wonderful! love how people all over the world feel the rush of emotions from years ago that has been suppressed by adulting:(. May we all find a way to get back connected to our inner child within us all.
I was 25 when I first played Tomb Raider. Today, I'm 53 and I'm diving back into it. This game has captivated me forever. This music is timeless and unique.
Thank you for this. I've added to my favourites list. BTW I am currently playing Fallout 76 and the game score is beautiful. There is one song in particular which reminds me of a scene from a Tomb Raider. It is called 'Our Way Of Life Will Endure' written by Inon Zur. It just sounds so familiar but I can't find anything on Google about it being the same song. Oh well!
I was 29 years old when my brother bought this game for my son for Christmas. My pregnant wife and I and my daughter of three would watch him play at night and sometimes CRAZY stretches over the weekends. I cannot tell you what I would give to have those moments back. We don’t realize how amazing and wonderful life is sometimes. At least until you hear a soundtrack like this that reminds us. I bawl like a little girl from nostalgia each and every time I hear the original theme. P.s. : my son grew up, has five children of his own, and owns a multi-million dollar company that he built from the ground up. Who SAYS video games will rot your brain?
Now that i'm thinking about how weirdly some of these tracks were placed, i think its because the devs didn't wanted to give an atmosphere to places straight away, rather than give to the player some of lara's gut feelings, without any inner monologue. Feelings like wonder, curiosity and fear are shown through music and not through words
Oh to have been there making this game and being a part of a legendary creation in the 90's. Alas, I was only 4 when it released in 1996, which means I was 2 when development began in 1994. But I would've been right alongside those guys helping make this if I could.
Not only do I get caught up in the game, but the music takes me on a beautiful journey that no other game could do. Nathan McCree is a pure genius indeed!
Storytime: In the early 2000's, I would wake up around 6:00 AM on weekends, boot up my Playstation 2, turn down the console volume, and play this series just to learn the obstacle course or have Lara swim around at Croft manor. So many memories. Thanks so much for the upload! 😄👏
Gra mojego życia od niej zaczęło się wszystko ,ta część i druga ,reszta mniej już ważna ale ta najważniejsza a muzyka genialna ,nic nigdy nawet nie jest być w stanie jej sprostać
Thank you for posting this! I'm at work and it is totally making my morning go by quickly. And this is still my favorite game. I remember my brother, sister and I taking turns playing this game through out the night. Best bonding moment for us. :)
I began playing Tomb Raider 1 on a Playstation 1 in about 1998 .... and I'm still only about two-thirds through it in 2021! Couple of 5-year gaps along the way when i got seriously stuck on the harder puzzles, and when I saved a practice session on level 2 without realising that this would wipe out all my later saved positions. That main (oboe?) theme at the start is as haunting and evocative now as it has always been for 20+ years.
Tomb Raider, Silent Hill , Resident Evil, Tekken3, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7, Crash Bandicoot Warped, Vigilante 8, Duke Nukem time to kill, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee ,Soul Blade, Dino Crisis (2), Driver 2, Soul Reaver Legacy of Kane, Medievil and many more… the Legendary ,one and only: Play Station 1
My mom's boyfriend has a PS1 when I was about 14, and he was also a pot grower. So they would go to work in the steel mill on night shift, and I would smoke up, play this amazing game and watch The Dark Crystal. Legendary times.
Loved this game as a child, and the music was such a big part of the experience of feeling absorbed into the Tomb Raider World. The music added so much to the mystique, adventure, atmosphere, experience and later feel of nostalgia. Great soundtrack. I especially think the Tomb raider theme, Longing for home, A friend since gone and the T-Rex pieces were great and very effective.
I first played this game when i was 7 to 8 im 31 now and i still play the game to this day 2023 i have all of them for ps1 the whole trilogy even revelations they need to make this game how they made it back in the day but a lot better
