The first ever glitchless SS run of this game! the luck required in some of the levels with enemies etc is insane so I played it safe quite often, although I am extremely happy with this time. I was aiming for sub 2 Hours.
This is such a great category of this game to run and I really hope someone else attempts it. For now though I will move on to Tomb Raider 2. When competition arises I will look into improving this run, there is a lot of room for it, I think lara got drunk on the plane to Egypt :D
Please ignore the "AHA!" sound effect in the great pyramid and the random sound effect in the last cut-scene. These are there because Fraps recorded some other unforeseen sounds happening on my computer.

Yes, I’m gonna be honest that Tomb Raider l/ll/lll/4/5 Are Probably one of the best Tomb Raider games you could get in 1998

Awesome run! I think Glitchless runs are much more rewarding to play/watch than others, but that's IMO. Question: Why do you pull your guns out so often? I've seen other runners do this too. Does it straighten you up for a jump or something?

Thanks tori. there are 2 reasons. the main one is that lara turns faster with her guns out. her turning speed is automatically set to full whereas without her guns she has to accelerate to this turning speed. The second reason is that it resets any camera changes that happen in the game sometimes. you can also do this with the "Look" button, but doing it with the guns lets you keep control of lara whereas if you are looking, lara won't be able to turn. And a third reason you might see me do it is because i simply have to do it so often I do it by accident when its not needed haha.

You can play the scariest horror games out there, but you will always shit your pants when you hear the mummies growling in the room next yours. It gave me chills when I was a kid and it still gives me the chills now. Even if the polygon count is so low and there's no logical reason to be scared, you indeed are.

I saw your Tomb Raider 2 speedrun video (commentary version) and loved it!!! Now I am watching this speedrun and I am really enjoying it too (I just wish it was also commented), I would like to see future speedrun videos from other Tomb Raider's (TR III, TR: The Last Revelation, etc.) since I really like your speedrun, it also reminds me of my childhood battles completing games xD

Controls are simple and natural. You press forward to go forward and left-right to turn left or right. In the newer games like legend i press to turn around and lara is running instead. Depending on the camera angle, when I press to run left she runs straight. WTF?

you sir, are gifted. I played this game when it 1st came out on Pc(with an expensive Voodoo 1 card), the Glidos & VDM sound does it even better. What a treat to relive this classic game thru your video-it never occurred to me to "speedrun"..but it's amusing as all hell to see how you did ~shortcuts~ & easily beat the timed runs in the game. You really love this old game & it shows, thanks!

8 minutes in and my jaw literally drops hard to believe a person did this, you must of beat this game loads of times. i was young when this game came out like 9years old wasnt smart enough to beat it and incredible how i can sit here and relive my childhood then some😊

Very impressive :O Your end time on each level is about twice as fast as mine, and i save game alot so i can go back and fix my mistakes that wastes time haha xD I do however collect secrets but still you're insanely good at this :D

No Videogame ever flashed me more than Tomb Raider did it in 1996 until today! I still love this game and how you play it is awesome, I remember I played it for weeks to get through it for the first time. Thanx a lot for this upload and sorry for my bad english but I'm from the "Ruhrarea" in western Germany. Can't wait to watch your glitchless Speedrun of Tomb Raider 2 tomorrow! Is it wrong to miss the old Lara scream? now she just goes "Opps, oof" when she falls off a cliff to her doom. in fact, its not even that dramatic.. more of a "Ooo, ah" .

Amazing dude, I've beaten this game so many damn times i cant count, but never attempted a speedrun though. I did beat it without using health packs before though.

I did a no health pack run on iPhone version of the game on my old iPhone 5S in 2015. By far the hardest run I did on this game. Took months on and off to complete and think i picked up every med pack in game too. Was something like 100 medi packs if i recall, around 60 small and 40 large ones. Or maybe around 60 in total both small and large (can't remember too well).

You could never go this fast playing on the original PS1 version, it's far more slower, hens easier to make tiny mistakes, and takes longer to kill enemies. PC versions are definitely more advanced and faster.

Isn't the jump in 15:28 the walk-run-jump glitch?? I guess it's unintentional since a normal running jump would accomplish exactly the same.

Great run, very impressive! Is the TombRunner definition of glitchless just no clipping, corner/ledge bugs, etc? Does it also include trigger skips? Curious because I'd like to do a glitchless run of a TR classic myself one of these days and I noticed on some areas you skipped triggers with jumps/timing and was not sure if there are some exceptions or what (not just you, but other glitchless runs on TombRunner as well). Regardless, awesome job!

Thanks droogie! It would be awesome to see someone else run this category. Basically trigger skips are aloud, as long as they don't involve clipping to pull them of obviously like in my Qualopec glitched run. And yes glitchless basically means no clipping/corner bugs, however there are some acceptions, for instance the dive bug (like in the 40 Fathoms glitched run in TR2) is considered a glitch. Unintentional glitches that don't save time are also aloud.

When I played shadow of the tomb raider I was gutted she didnt jump and move like this .. to many sticks herbs and crap to pick up annoyed me and all caves looked similar with same little gap to fit through. Bring back the old tomb raider

I have a question and a suggestion - Question - Do you think that jumping is any faster than running? I don't think so personally and it opens you up to the occaisional time sapping face plant into a low beam. Suggestion - back on the Playstation1 I played this game through in a mirriad of different ways, one of the most difficult ways was the "No Kill" run. This is getting through the game without killing anything that isn't essential in order to progress - ie. 'Bosses' - no killing rats, bats, lions, gorillas, dinos, wolves or anything else. This of course means you need to collect health at every oportunity, but it is possible. I'd be interested to see your attempt :)

I played this game on the Play Station demo disc... loved it. Never was able to buy it though... but I remember getting chased by the tiger... the environment in this game was absolutely peaceful.

***** Yea I agree, this game (and the other TR games) had the perfect balance of action, peacefulness and puzzle. Pretty awesome. Abe's Oddysee and Soul Reaver were the other two games that I thought did a similar thing. Probably my three favourite games for PS1.

Interesting to note during your run of St. Francis' Folly that Pierre never spawns in at the bottom of the tall room... presumably because you never shot at him for long enough to make him disappear in the first room? Unless you just missed whatever spot/action triggers him the second time.

steven Claessen It's just a trigger skip. Skipping event triggers aren't considered glitches unless you have to perform a glitch to do so.

steven Claessen Not really any plans specifically. But when I get some extra time I will be either doing this or TR2 Secrets. If you want to see a more optimized run look for Super Gamer's run.

+RonBest I don't think so. Not on the very last level anyway. I think I died a few times on the two levels before it though. I made sure to practice the very last level lot.
