A video guide to the TR2 2nd mission 'Venice'. The walkthrough uses a shortcut to cut out a significant amount of the level, so completion time is 10 minutes.
Man this game is flipping hard those silent pistol dudes are annoying especially the last one u need to kill to get the door open to the hideout, thx for making this guide dude its most useful to many people
I spend so long playing this game and never really understood why it was so amazing. Looking back, I think its the total lack of music (apart from the scripted set pieces), the atmosphere was incredible. The sense of exploration and adventure as well, I can't think of many modern games that has captured that.
Tomb Raider 2 is my favorite of the series. The puzzles are so creative! The Deck is an awesome level. BTW, I never realized you could bypass so much of this level.
Apparently they're producing a remake of Tomb Raider 2. Eidos is closely observing blogs on its webpage, and checking its financial information to see if there is room for another one, the majority of fans want another remake.
For those of you on Facebook join the tomb raider fan page because the game developers participate in discussions and there are a lot of people who want a remake of TR 2 and 3 because these levels will look amazing in high definition graphics. In the meantime I'm going to get myself a PS2 so I can play the originals.
You missed some Uzi clips in the area before you pull the loch switch - under the water! *wink* I loved this level though so well done on posting it for the less experienced to learn the route and order of play!!
I don't see how. Other than the atmosphere, the recent installments improve or enhance everything about the Tomb Raider games. The only other thing I can think that TR2 is better is that it's a classic that deserves the love it gets. I'm sorry. I just think people are a little biased towards the newer games. But this is just my opinion.
yes, it;s exactly the same game on the ps3, they haven't changed anything, not even the graphics. Though you can enable 'smoothing' using the PS button to make it look a little bit less pixellated.
@ImJustRandom1000 Tomb Raider 2 was great. Did any of the other Tomb Raiders have such cool levels like Venice, Bartoli's Hideout, the Opera House, or the upside down ship? I would really like to play more great adventure games like this.
If you swim -under- the door at about 8:20 then the timer will not trigger and you can take as long as you want =D Otherwise see the no-shortcut walkthrough.
I Have successfully beat TR2 with no medi's used, all secrets, and no walkthrough! Granted I've played it so much I can play it in my head and it took awhile lol. Working on TR3 no medi's now and I'm in South P, and have London and Antartica left : (. Watch out Italian guy : )
I still play this game.its not to late to quit ya know. classics really were like da bomb back then and i think they still are. Only if the companies made these tomb raider series look good on ps3. Except when the loadingbar for diving area loads, the game gets stuck :(
Wow I used to have the demo and played it all day long lol. There were a ton of glitches and I always tried to see how many people/dogs I could keep alive.
Are you using the PC or the PS version? To avoid the timed sequence you must go under the door in the room with the switch. Going over the ramp will trigger the timer. However, if you want to do it that way then you must open two gates to let your boat through quick enough to reach the doors. If you want I can make a video walktrhough of how to do this.
nothing - if you collect the stone, gold and jade dragons on a level, then you will get a new weapon+ammo or a lot of ammunition for a particular weapon. Collecting all secrets over the course of the game, or indeed all dragons of a particular kind yields no 'all secrets' rewards.
If you are referring to the doors right at the end of the level closing before you get there then you are probably running out of time. The No Shortcut version of this walkthrough might be of use (see video response). Other than that I'm not sure what the problem could be :\
@ItalianGuy99 Hey!! Can you please help me?? When I win "The great Wall" , a window appears and it says : "FATAL: Level 2 (D:/data/boat.TR2) requires a new TOMB2.EXE (version 1344519) to run" So I´m stuck in the great wall... Hope some1 helps! U.u
You don't need the secrets. If you get all 3 on a level then you get a bonus; either a weapon or lots of ammo for a weapon, sometimes both. Therefore if you missed a few it doesn't matter!
@iris030380 The first 3 are all still 10/10 games though...This is definitely the best, but all the Tomb Raiders are still pretty good (minus Angel of Darkness, of course). It's done well as a series- It's been 10 years, and it still hasn't gone stale yet. The new ones aren't nearly as good as the originals, but they're still good games. Most franchises start seriously sucking after 10 years...
So many memories coming back... These where the days when video games where made to be fun and challenging, and not all about flashy graphics and online gameplay and the rest of the miner stuff... I miss those days and most of all I miss this game, Tomb Raider 2 was the very first game I ever got, thanks for this amazing trip down memory lane, you reminded me what video games are really about =)
also i love this level i play it nearly lots of times and i wish my boat wasnt broken (im quite rich) i have a yacht and a speed so had lotsof fun.... but they both broke "magically" and went in to my lake..... father was never happy.... oh well.. still love tomb raider COS IM NOT A POSH RICH KID IM A TOTALLY NORMAL KID THATS GOT LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTSand lots and lots and lots....and lots .... and lots......and......lots..... of money..
I never got anywhere after unlocking the boat shed as a kid...I used to play the first level and up to that part of level 2 over and over. If only I were still that easily entertained.
@iris030380 I'm gonna have to disagree with you there...Legend, Anniversary and Underworld are not great compared to the earlier games, but they're still really good (if a little short)...
i love this gameso badly that i used to play it when i was about 5 years i swear i am not joking does any body know if any body who has the game can send it on email plz i am addicted
I remember I played the demo for Last Revelation when I was 7 and I was afraid lol.The jackals came out of friggin' nowhere and it was so dark. My mom got me the one for Dreamcast along with Sonic Adventure 2. I never opened Revelation to this day, but I played the hell out of SA2 lol. Now that I watch this, I'm intrigued again.
@kingdrauser09 Take the boat from first part of Venice and shoot mine... now when you press the button jump to the new boat and swim to finish!! Sorry for my english... xD
i got this game a while back for £2 and replayed the entire game. the nostalgia was overwhelming. honestly, anyone who played this as a child go and replay this game!!
i remember that it took like 2 hours to finish this level :D i suck at playing tomb raiders, i think that they're actually really hard ! but still i love them so much :)
@BlinkBoyBrad haha yeah, so true! TR1 and 2 took, like, 2 months to complete without a walkthrough! You'd complete a level every couple of days if you were lucky!
The versions on the PS store are just the original games running under a emulator so yeah. Now the versions on GOG on the other hand I don't know, I'm sure the cheats would work but you would probably have to look up the PC versions of the codes..
Current game dev's take note this game is a masterpiece that takes hard work and dedication to make. But the end result an untimeliness legacy in gaming history, that means more than £££ or another Shoot 'Em Up...
you need to listen to this ok we should all get to gether march up to anyone with halo or something and give them a day of playing mario tomb raider zelda spyro that sort of thing and see what happens join me!!!
What made the early Tombraider's special was the graphics, the sounds, the effects, the solitary feelings of isolation on your missions. Remaking them and updating them will never capture what the originals gave you.
oh christ me and my bro had such a retarded solution to finish this level :p we used a boat to destroy all the mines and we'd rush through with another faster boat to get through the gate before it closed :p
@MegaHello12345 I live in holland(The Netherlands) and i remember i bought a lara croft complete pack(1-5) for 10 Euro's a few months ago for my cousin. So you can probably still buy it, maybe also on steam
He's just making a clean joke. There's no harm in it. And on a separate note, it's true :) But I mean, I think we all know that Minecraft has poor graphics for a reason. There's no shame in it :D
I remember playing this when I was little. I could never make it past Venice, mainly because I was so frightened. I ended up trading it to some girl for Spyro. Love this video though, thanks.
I totally agree with you!! I mean... TOTALLY!!! But some games, today ,are not bad either - ex. Prince of persia the sands of time, Ico, Shadow of the colossus and let's hope- The last Guardian etc.
I want it too but it's doubtful you'll be able to find it new. All I own are the demos after the first one. I heard the company was going to make remakes but I'm not sure it's official. I only own TR1.
brilliant, brings back so many memories, i'm sure lara should have got her stomach pumped after swimming there though, although it looks a lot cleaner than the thames from TR 3 lol
Oh yes, what memories! Tomb Raider 2 was actually my FIRST pc game I ever played. The game level design was incredible and there were very long too. one of the best in all of TR games.
just dowloaded tomb raider on psn im all giddy with excitement! however, when i looked on there for tomb raider 2.....nowhere to be found. c'mon psn get it sorted!!
@killer236448 haha yea! As soon as you walk down that alley they come running at you. The huge guys with the balaclavas weren't too inviting either. What a game! Good times
@oBLACKIECHANoo Well, 1. Im 10 2. I really want long hair. 3. I'm having a childhood crush 4. I think the boy I like likes long hair 5. This is none of your buisness.
i rememeber when i bought this i was about eight, and i went to a place called HORC, it was a pawn shop and i paid for the game (20 dollars) in pennies. So many memories
@killer236448 The same thing happened to me in tr5! Also when larson was shooting from the tightrope part. Made it up to the dragon heads then i got TOO scared.
I can't imagine how crazy some people would go if they added trophies to these types of games. Like crash, sypro, resident evil, tekken, and of course tomb raider.
this is also back when video games took thought, where you could get stuck, and really be fucking stuck. back when video games challeneged you, and made you think
Only now do I realise what an amazing shot Lara is to be able to hit a goon on the balcony above her whilst continually doing 360 flips from side to side!
