Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished years earlier. This type of scene looks more like an idea for a videogame. So that the player won't get bored from just walking to the Endurance.

I was initially expecting her to actual fight the three guys with knife and was disappointed she escaped instead, but then I remembered she is not yet supposed at this point to be an overpowered videogame charachter...

@@gilgamesh310 that's an incredibly difficult thing to do, not like how you see in movies. Assuming she was even capable of doing it physically, she couldn't do it with the current position she had him in with her one arm. It's all quite foolish really seeing as it's a movie, but given a real situation like this, he'd likely stab her multiple times and kill her. That's assuming he didn't escape in the first place on foot. Or that the other two guys don't just bum rush her, she's got him in a bullshit headlock lmao. In reality if he or they wanted, she'd be dead no problem.

@@MrXennon1 At the end of the day, it's based on a videogame, even if they made it more 'grounded' than the game. The previous movies didn't even try to be realistic. This one struck a pretty good balance between realistic and videogame fun.

@A P A T H E T I C and the funny thing is daisy ridley was actually the original choice to play lara in this movie but cos of star wars commitment couldnt do it. paid off though as alicia was excellent as lara and i dont think daisy could have matcxhed up

Honestly I loved this movie. Unlike in the games and stuff where theres ancient curses and gods throwing lightning at you, theres an actual scientific reason behind this.

So Okay, It's Average: Many reviews say it seems no one cared about making the movie more than passable action fodder, and it comes off more like a long test shoot or trailer for Vikander to play Lara in some actual stories next time.

This looks like a pretty good movie. Although I will have to say I like Angelina Jolie films the best. As someone who has been a Tomb Raider gamer since 1997, I will always prefer the original PS1 series style.

This is a mockery of Tomb Raider franchise. Even though you say "she is not yet supposed to be an overpowered character", still Lara was never weak, and wouldn't run away like that form a fight, she genuinely looked scared. As someone who grew up playing Tomb Raider back in the mid 1990s, watched both movies and read the book, Angelina Jolie embodied Lara perfectly. This actress doesn't understand Lara as a character. Lara is knowledgeable, smart, quick on her feet...whoever directed this should change careers

In my hukble opinion this is WAY BETTTER than Jolie's Raider. This Croft is not flawless, grows through the film and is completely idenifiable with. I didn't play the game,but this is a truly underrated movie.

Jolie was hotter To quote a straight woman I knew “ “She’s so hot I’d go bi for her” such understated sexuality. I love the seen in Jolie’s movie when she dropped her robe. All you saw was her back & top of Butt cheeks & then her calves & feet . Had me Imagination is such a wonderful thing

It is bizarre that how the script writer made the Chinese captain share the name with his father. In western culture you might share a name with your elder or a saint to relate to those you respect, but in Chinese culture is the opposite, you AVOID to use the same name with those you respect. One example is whenever a new emperor succeed the throne, lots of people had to change their name to avoid using same name with the new emperor. I can't believe it's 21th now and they can still got this wrong, even the Hong Kong actor didn't correct them.

I was thinking the same thing. The title was "Tomb Raider - fighting thieves". I saw a lot of running but not much in the way of fighting. If it hadn't been for the drunk with the shotgun, I think the boys would have carved her up like a roast.

@@BratzFanz123 When I first watched the movie I didn't even know that Tomb Raider games existed 😂 so I guess that's why I just really like the movie for what it is. Many people I know love it and wouldn't call it horrible. But then I totally understand that the people who have played the games would be expecting something much different. Sorry for any misunderstanding
