Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Tomb Raider is the story that will set a young and resolute Lara Croft on a path toward becoming a global hero. The film stars Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) in the lead role, under the direction of Roar Uthaug (The Wave), with Oscar-winner Graham King (The Departed) producing under his GK Films banner. The film¹s production begins on the heels of the 20th anniversary of the wildly popular videogame franchise from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.
Tomb Raider also stars Dominic West (Money Monster, 300), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) and Daniel Wu (AMC¹s Into the Badlands).

Pvt. Duckling The director refused to do anything that was not homage to the video game. He has been interviewed stating if it doesn't honor the reboot of the game and follow it, he isnt doing it. Guy is quite passionate about the Tomb Raider series and loves the reboot the most.

Much better than the first trailer, but still not completely convinced. My biggest problem is the CGI and overusing it. This is that type of movie that needs practical effects in order to make it a good movie. It doesn't feel like she is in danger, it just looks like she is pretending it with a obvious green screen. Still it's only a trailer and I hope for the best. I just doubt that after Assassin's Creed, we will never get a really good video game movie.

Aaron Swengel I've played them, and yeah, they are really really good video games. They deserve the worthy adaption. But this is not a game, it's a movie. And as a movie this doesn't look as great as it's own like the video game series. At this stage I don't think this movie will suck. It might be just a fun popcorn flick that you'll forget as soon as you've finished it. I don't want the Tomb Raider movie to be like that. I want it to be a good movie, something I will think after I've seen it. I don't want it to be another forgettable Hollywood blockbuster. The fact that they just copied the looks all the familiar environments in the games doesn't mean anything.

Enough with the Angelina Jolie mentions. Angelina Jolie = suited the old version of Lara This actress does suit the NEW version of Lara that matches the RECENT Tomb Raider games. Made the trailer even worse. Usually a bad sign when marketing has to rely completely on a song instead of a score in most cases (unless it's built in like Guardians). Trying to think of the last good blockbuster that did and I'm drawing a blank outside of Logan. It was used appropriately there though. It was not for Assassins Creed with Kanye Power.

I'll be honest here, I'm a huge fan of the movies, the games everything! I loved it when Jolie was Croft and I was quite sceptical to see Alicia as Lara, as much as I love her as an actress ( she is one of the most talented young actresses in Hollywood and I wasn't surprised when she got her oscar) BUT the movie was soooo good!!! I loved it, it was like the game and I must admit I enjoyed it even more than the old ones and I hope there are more cause she is one hell of a good Croft!

I am really bothered by the overused CGI and cheesy dialogues but I will give this movie a shot. Based on the trailer, the director seems to have played Tomb Raider cuz there are a lot of scenes in the trailer which look similar to the game.

I don't know why you said that. Most video games movies don't even follow their source material. The Hitman movies are the complete opposite of the Hitman games. Hitman is STEALTH with creative kills and disguise not mindless gun-blazing action sequences. The AC movie focuses on the present timeline instead of the past which is also the complete opposite of the AC games. I can go on with this for the other video-game movies such as Resident Evil but I doubt I need to.

loved the movie!! Alicia Vikander played the role of Lara Croft extremely well. I think the new Tomb Raider with Alicia Vikander in is way better than the old ones. This actually looks really good and I love how they kept the brutality of the video game in the movie. Lara gets put thru the ringer in the game and clearly they decided that would hold more weight to keep that as a part of the story.

This movie was so amazing! I wish I would have seen it in theaters, it was so much action, I felt so hyped the whole movie. It really captivated me. I think Alicia is so perfect for this role, both in looks and her physicality. The training and dedication she gave to this role is awe inspiring. She is a total badass and I'm so desperate for a sequel.

The best video game adaptation ever. Alicia did an incredible job playing Lara. Probably her second best performance after Ex Machina. Very good film. Really well written, set up the next film perfectly. Hope we get a few more films.

I hated Assassin's Creed. As a fan of the games, I was downright offended by it. The only video game movies I actually liked were both Angelina TR movies and Mortal Kombat, the 1st one, not the garbage Annihilation one.

darkwarrior3007 The AC film is the mirror image of the Desmond saga. A guy born into the order who finds out he has an ancestral line of Assassin's. Through the bleeding effect learning combat skills and taking the fight to the Templars in the modern day. What's not to like? Seems to me you aren't a true AC fan.

Tomb Raider was an amazing film!! By far the best video game to movie adaption. Overall a great film!! 9/10 Alicia Vikander KILLED IT!! Really excited for the sequel!

Why adapt though? So much was spun differently, and ruined it. I liked the mystery and supernatural feel of the game, made it feel less normal. But they took so much, changed it, and made the mystery into some sort of real world explanation. No thanks.

Idk why some people keep saying she is better than Angelina jolie. For that time period she brought life to the character and looked physically accurate to the old concept (it was a big breasted/lipped women) and that's what she gave and a badass attitude even the stunts were cool to see at the time.

As someone who has played literally every single Tomb Raider Game ever released; even the Horrible 2002 "Dark Angel" game, I can honestly say that this Trailer does look as if it does the New reboot franchise justice. There might be a few tweaks here and there cinematically, though probably not to drastically. I'm am sure as hell already all in for this movie, and have been sold on it since day one!!😉🎥🎬📷📹

the Angelina Jolie ones were pretty good imo. This one is annoyingly similar to the 2013 game and so it probably won't have an interesting story as most people will already know it, loads of shots were just ripped off the game unnecessarily which kinda ruined the hype for me but maybe it'll be decent.
