Tomb Raider: Underworld | "Amongst the Sharks and Jellyfish" Slowed to Perfection 

Honestly the entire score for the Mediterranean Sea mission is simply otherworldly.

When Underworld came out and I finally got to play it a few years later, I found it fashionable to hate. You know, I belonged to an echo chamber back then. Buggy game, too short, 'and of course the classics were better'. These were our mantras. But as years went by, my perspective changed. All those bugs were due to INSANE deadlines on developers. The soundtrack was arguably the series' best soundtrack. The story went really deep-I only understood some deeper connections as I aged a little. To put it simply, one can easily see the potential: this game had everything to be the ultimate original Tomb Raider. The atmosphere was lonely and sombre. It was like the original 1996 game in that aspect. No chatting, just tomb raiding, with a heavy focus on (optional) background mythology. It's a damn shame people want nonstop cinematic action these days. I say they seek help and raise their dopamine and serotonin levels by chemical or some other means; a constantly crying and thrown-around Lara Croft should not do the job for healthy people. Oh, I'm becoming edgy again. TL;DR fine soundtrack, fine upload!

Thank you for bringing some freshness into a soundtrack that may be over a decade old but still doesn't get boring to listen to!! I really appreciate it. Hopefully they will bring this kind of vibe back into the future TR soundtrack, I really missed that in the survivor trilogy

I remember so vividly ordering the Tomb Raider Ultimate Collection when I was like... 8 Years old. It had all Lara Croft games, starting from Tomb Raider 1 and finishing on Underworld. I desperately wanted to play Underworld, because I only got to play the Demo and it was also from a virus site too haha but when I finally got to play it and when I saw the open sea, this beautiful landscape oh man. My face is smiling every single time I think of this game. Honestly, Legend was my childhood, but Underworld is taking the cake in my honest opinion. It's so underrated, but it's so great.

This is insanely relaxing, and I never appreciated what a great track it is before. It's a perfect balance between ambience and music, without overpowering the sense of isolation and exploration or simply being a bunch of random sound effects in total silence

Underworld was actually my "first Tomb Raider game," it was 2014 and I was a senior in boarding school and would check out the used game section for 360 games at Gamestop because I figured with the new consoles coming out I could get them cheap. I never played a Tomb Raider game so I asked, " Do you have Tomb Raider Anniversary?" "No" "Do you have Tomb Raider Legend?" "No, but we do have Underworld." So I got Underworld and played the Mediterranean section and felt like I was missing story context, so I decided to track down a copy of Legends from another Gamestop and finally Anniversary from yet another Gamestop. I played Legends first but let me tell you, for me, it was special because I could only play when I was home from boarding school on the weekends. Sunday nights trying to finish a level before I had to make the 2-hour drive to my dorm are some of my favorite memories. I know that there is a civil war between Croft fans between the Classic games, Legends games, and Survivor games, but to be honest I respect all the incarnations for what they are. This past year I have been working through the survivor trilogy and love the survival elements as well as the challenge tombs. Even Croft's character I don't have any issue with. Sure she's more vulnerable but I find her more relatable. I miss the independent and acrobatic version of her but if I want I can always go back and play the older games. It's kinda cool having multiple generations.
