Tomba 2 was my first video game ever. I was so young that I had to sleep by myself without my parents before they would buy me a Playstation 1 Now I'm 30 and looking forward to finally playing the original. (Still would love re-release of Tomba 2)
...maybe it will be picked up by some other publisher later for the NORMAL physical release. Some games got this treatment and I was so happy that I waited.
@@SussyPoster69 Now that I think about it, Tomba is one of the few games where all of the fans (the few of them) actually have played both games, multiple times.
@@CerealKiller I learned of Tomba and its sequel through this rerelease. I think it looks really cool and it kind of reminds me of wonder boy thats why i wanna play it
I actually prefer the first one. I don’t really like the Polygonal of the sequel. It’s like the PSONE Resident Evils and etc that ages really poorly. It’s a lot uglier and it lacks the charm of the more sprite based art of the first one. I also can’t stand the voice acting nor the horrendous song that plays every time you talk to someone that’s so loud and grating you can barely hear what the characters are saying and have to additionally turn down the TV volume.
@@ChristopherJamesNeff Nah, it's fine, man. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and thinking that Tomba! 1 is the better game is something very valid. First one IS a thing of beauty, both visually and when it comes to the music, but... I think that Tombi! 2 graphics are ugly... isn't all that warranted? 3D graphics tend to age much worse than the 2D, but... I think that Tombi! 2 still looks surprisingly great. Sure, some models (looking at you, burned/shaved Kujaras) consist of like 6 triangles, BUT! They are charming and the scenery is really detailed and some places really activated my imagination. And don't forget about how character models nearly PERFECTLY mirrored the original artstyle of Tombi! 1, but in 3D - they did a really good job to make sure that everyone look like they should. Dialogue music (its monotony and causing the stage theme to start over) is a problem, not going to lie. And while voice acting ISN'T perfect (there's ~10 voice actors and they got reused a lot, VERY puzzling voice direction in some places and dubious translation of the script)... it was fair for the time and is actually quite charming. Lately I've bought English PAL version of the game for the video series I'm making and I was HEARTBROKEN when I discovered that the voice acting from the optional events was entirely cut out for whatever reason (the game is silent, not counting the music). I think that if they DIDN'T dub other versions of the game (German, French, Italian, Spanish) and used the money they would have saved for more varied English voice actors and a better translations, the game would be much better. ...then again, we probably wouldn't have Peter Kepler (who CARRIES the game btw) voicing the Ice Sculptor... Tombi! 2 also feels a lot more linear than Tombi! 1... even if the first one was also quite linear, it masked it REALLY well. ...the second one was also much easier (sadly) - Squirrel clothes pretty much breaking the game. Till this year I thought that Tombi! 2 wasn't as ambitious as the first one... but now I think that it couldn't be farther from the truth. They (quite successfully) made a switch from 2D to 3D, added voice acting and delivered a FINISHED product without cutting content. All that while having financial problems and being a small studio. And also the implementation of "save import" rewards. They did everything they could to make Tombi! 2 as good as it was possible. And that's why I love it. Sorry for a wall of text.
let's go guys, this summer is very hot but also very funny. special edition has just some bonus, but normal version is same good. i hope who the ost are modernize not change or replace to original ost ps1, orginal are very iconic ost. curiosity: tomba is call tombi in italian why means tomb, graveyard, for italian's is bad sound ;) yaa!
Can I ask a question? Will we see some more new contents for this game's rerelease in the current gen consoles such as: - New events. - Tweaked Evil Pig Boss fights (such as the player now needs to throw the Evil Pig to the Evil Pig Bag more than once in those Evil Pig Boss fights). - Post-game contents. And btw, they should have release both this game and Tomba! 2 under a compilation similar to the first three Crash Bandicoot games (which was released under the title of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy).
Why is there pictures of Tomba and a pig on a pair of feet and an My Little Pony Tomba and a realistic Tomba looking longingly at another pink haired man? There’s no way that’s official artwork.
Sure, but analog works digitally - there are no different movement speeds or anything, so using the analog stick will move tomba always at the same speed no matter how careful you are with the stick
I do too, except my Tomba! 2 is just a disc in a generic jewel case. I’m still looking for a complete copy at a cheapish price, but it only seems to keep getting more and more expensive as the years go by.
I wonder if they are gonna make a new voice acting, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to say that the full audio is exclusive to the english language If that's the case I am definitely gonna miss the voices I personally heard during my childhood. Good times man, good times
@@DS-jf2be Not true. There’s actually quite a bit of voice acted dialogue near the beginning of the game too when you meet the 100 Year Old Wise Man and after saving all the baby birds, he tells you the story of the evil pigs in a FMV cut scene.
This is exciting news for those of us who enjoy and are aware of this game's existence. So many people have never even heard of the game. In my opinion (being a platformer fan) Tomba is one of the most unique and best platformers ever released. When you see the resume of games 藤原 得郎 (Tokuro Fujiwara) has worked on, it makes sense why the game flows and plays the way it does. Having him help with the project will hopefully ensure the integrity of this nostalgic game. Great video as always. I have been subscribed to this channel for quite some time now. If you could please turn up the volume for the audio in your next video(s) that would be awesome :) I look forward to future content. I am excited to see if this will bring in a new fan base of people who can discover and enjoy Tomba! for some time to come :)
Proof you can sell anything to a gamer. This game has been available for over 20 years and this version brings nothing new to the game itself. No graphical updates. Not even a hd stretched out format. Anyone that buys this is a total sucker.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE PHYSICAL PRICES FOR THIS GAME?!! Also, it's for people who don't have access to a PS3 and PS3 PSN. You're the sucker for missing out.
