Yknow, i do wonder - if you're reading strawb, I am curious if you feel you have a duty of care to your listeners - most content creators feel a sense of care for their audience, but I am curious the level of such. Obviously you create content people may be accessing at delicate times, with people who are suffering in their lives. Does that ever cross you, or is it just a hobby/skill? And no, surprisingly I'm not high, just tired and curious. The relationship between creator and consumer has always intrigued me.
parasocial relationships can be harmful and i try to be mindful of the relationships i establish with people that watch my content so it isn’t toxic for either party. but i will say i enjoy helping people and i hope my content can help people in one way or another, whether it’s just enjoying a simple audio, helping someone sleep, feel less lonely, etc. i try my best to not feel like it’s my job to fix anyone’s sadness, though. that’s just too much pressure on anyone. but to sum it all up, of course i care.
@@darlingstrawb That seems like a good way to approach it. I've been looking into it myself as I'm working on software designed to facilitate people talking to each other, potentially about sensitive issues. It's an interesting balance to have to tread, between not getting too invested in people whomst you don't know (or if you do, not to the level others do) and still wanting to help them. I know for a fact I've made a few missteps on that line myself, but at the moment I'm more leaning to making things not for the goal of helping other people, but more because I know I would've wanted it to be there when I need it, helping others being a bonus. (At the moment I'm lucky enough to be able to work on these things out of passion rather than neccesity) Nonetheless, thanks for answering, and I hope you keep enjoying to make your content.
