Everything about this recording is amazing. I love Ewazen's music, Tomer's complete mastery of his craft, and the magnificent ensemble playing. I need to go practice...
Wow. Man, this is an amazing piece... There is NOTHING like the over and undertones of a brass ensemble playing in perfect tune. Gives me shivers.. This was awesome.
I found this video more than a year ago, and still watch it regularly, it’s breathtaking. So many moments in here of incredible music making, it gives me goosebumps; I’m so grateful to Tomer and all these guys for allowing us to enjoy such a wonderful performance of wonderful music.
I enjoyed that. Reminded me of trombone choir back in college. Great all around. Superb performance by Tomer. Nice balance. No blatting on pedal tones. Nice composition.
How wonderful to be living in a time when such beautiful music is being written for trombone and Eric Ewazen is certainly one of those very talented composers!
Aside from this being beautiful and just hard enough so you can tell it's hard even though these guys are great, my favorite thing here is to see that even professional trombonists sometimes touch their bells when in 3rd or 4th position. My teacher said not to and 26 years later, I'm still trying not to.
Eric Ewazen has arguably done the greatest service to trombonists' everywhere with his well written, inciteful literature. Eric brings out the inherit beauty of our instrument. My deepest thanks to you Mr. Ewazen.
Lol! Amazing how anyone could downvote this incredible performance. To me it is perfection. Lovely sound from soloist, and beautiful balanced and accurate ensemble playing. Wonderful!
I agree, a really wonderful composition and interpretation with warm sound. The next CD I buy of you is with this piece.!.... But what I'm asking is why doesn't stands there NDR (norddeutscher Rundfunk) on the background instead of SR for a great ensemble from Hannover?? Ashaming!
So beautiful! My husband played trombone in high school, college and in a band after college. Now our son plays a trigger / tenor trombone. This is so inspirational ! Thank you!
Is the left hand brace on Tomer's bass bone a standard option? Or is it a personal modification? I can imagine that it would help distribute the increased weight of the instrument (I play tenor), but I've never seen it before...
i believe it's a hand brace manufactured by Hagmann (aswell as the valves he has on his trombone) but could be by Rath aswell, i think they had something alike too. And yes, it is made to reduce stress in the left hand. That's useful because that stress can negatively affect your sound and because you need the middle finger of that hand for the second valve on a bass trombone
ExtremeRecluse Trombones are one of the more awkward instruments to hold easily without undue hand/wrist stress. There is no ergonomically designed “handle” or grip to hold onto. The bass trombone also has more weight to it, making it even more awkward to handle. Having that hand support system will help prevent Tendinitis, as well as just make playing the instrument more ergonomic and enjoyable.
