As a devout Catholic senior citizen, I am offended by the President's petulantly saying he would step down if asked to by the Lord Almighty. He hasn't had much of a public record of prioritizing following what the Lord asks of him and of all of us.

I remember have an epiphany about my life one day and that’s the day I quit taking the drugs I was taking. I knew the whole 12 step program wasn’t going to work for me because I knew I WASN’T powerless. In fact that’s what made me quit and go through the 2 months of withdrawals ALONE. I knew it was a matter of being WEAK before and that I was stronger than that. I went out and got lyrics from a Staind song tattooed on my right bicep to always REMIND ME of where I was and where I am. I think that’s one of the few things religion CAN be good for even though I COMPLETELY AND VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE with the idea that you have to “acknowledge that you’re powerless” and turn your life over to a “higher power”. I believe in EMPOWERMENT NOT DISEMPOWERMENT. However as I said, if believing in a flying spaghetti monster (essentially the same thing/concept) or a “god”/“jesus” is what it takes to help someone find the strength to quit than so be it. However I am also one of the very few former addicts you’ll hear who says I also believe people should have the right to do whatever they want as long as it isn’t DIRECTLY hurting someone else!!
