I have a cheaper version of this with a plastic base. I like the idea of making the spare tire with a cover on it. Solves the matching of the other 4 tires. I am going to steal your ideas for mine.

I just got one of those disc shaped brushes and tried on diecast : it removes excess paint like magic. (Believe me I used to spend hours trying to scrape the last bits of paint, and not fully succeeded.) Thanks for all the videos !!

Quite an improvement over the original version. I think it looks great! I noticed it looked like you were struggling with drilling the axle holes. Sometimes I clamp my drill to the edge of the table, that gives me both hands to hold the item that I'm drilling. I thought maybe this would help. Take care.
