In 2024 I got one today. It has USB C. I was not happy that it didn't have a power supply until from your video that it was just a simple brick. I went on line everywere, including amazon looking for a power supply. Oh well. I would have liked to see how you hooked it up to your mac. Thanks.
Computers will just treat it like a webcam. There is software you can install but you're probably better off using OBS or some other software that works with webcams. Great if you want to use a 22" monitor (or larger) instead of the 7" screen. Or if you just want first, just capture using it's native capabilities.
So with the plastic shroud installed at the max it's about 2 5/8" or about 66.68mm. You can apparently buy extensions to increase that. However, this is outdated and has been replaced with scopes that can do 4k and output to HDMI, meaning you can hook it up to any display with HDMI. Imagine using a 22" 1080p monitor. Or a 50" 4k TV. But this is still better than squinting, so... 😆
I am only using it for electronics repair so I can't answer your question. However there are some models that do come with specimens while this one did not.
For my needs, yes. Though since then newer and better options exist. Larger screens, HDMI output, better magnification, etc. Of course those come with a higher price, but may be worth it to you.
