Tommy Aldridge Part 1 - JOEDRUMS 

I'm not a drummer, but I love rock and Tommy grew up close to where I live. He can still drum just like this. His physical style of playing has done his body very well over the years. A message there for all of us over 50 :).

Such a great guy Tommy is, man. And not to mention he has a groovy feel behind the drums. He definitely makes my top 10 list of favorite drummers. God bless Tommy Aldridge.

I remember hearing Tommy play for the very first time on "Go For What You Know", the Pat Travers live album from 1979. It totally blew me away. I remember thinking: WTF... This is rock drumming at its finest ! Big fat rolling bassdrums, ultra cool fills, rock solid grooves, bad ass showmanship, the whole shebang... Tommy is the real deal. Period.

Top notch drum kit! Those Zildjians! Soo ballsy and full bodied swells! Nice contrast between bright and a moody darker swell. That mother China on top right!!!!! Deep, Deep full drum sound! Those kicks man!

We were so fortunate, to have grown up listening and learning to a Beethoven, Chopin, Itzhak Perlman class of drummer- right in our own timeline! What more can one say about Tommy, that hasn’t already been screamed, dreamed, spoken, touted, written about or basically just stated with conviction. Tommy Aldridge was, and still is, a HUGE driving force for the greatest drummers on earth. I remember vividly when Bonham died. I was a young teen boy. I knew how huge, but never fully appreciated the loss. Now, sadly, I do. But here, and NOW, we still have the great Tommy Aldridge. I could fatten the list with other drummers, obviously. But, we are talking about this one virtuoso. And the work he has done is magnificent. And we have his teachings at our fingertips! And I think to myself…….what a wonderfulllll………world. Thanks Tommy.

TA is the best! He is tasteful at every moment; he is eloquent in every utterance. There's no one better, yet he's humble and he reminds us that we all share the love of drums. Every video of Tommy Aldridge is fun to watch - every single one of 'em. The man is the drums.

Hands down, my favorite drummer, Tommy is humble, easy going, but beats the drums like they owe him money. Nobody drums in his style, and few have been doing it longer.

I bought this vhs in 1993 I think? 🤔It was called “Hot Drummer” and had Rod Morgenstein, Michael Cartellone, and Pat Torpey (rip)...Tommy was playing with House of Lords at the time and did some great work on their Demons Down album. Wonderful days!🤟🏻👍🙂🥁

This dude is one of the biggest reasons I play drums. I know... Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta. - Tommy is a pure drummer at heart.. And a good dude.

this is from about 1991 he was using zildjian and yamaha carbon fiber drums back then he is still awesome today though

This may sound weird but my favorite drumming of Tommy Aldridge is his playing on Speak of the Devil. The only thing I can figure is it's because the songs called for more light and shade, some of the parts had to be played with more dynamics than your average rock or metal. Black Sabbath was pretty jazzy actually. I think it showcased more of his talent that unfortunately we haven't been able to hear in a lot of the work he's done since that's at more or less one velocity level all the way through.

My step dad got to meet Tommy when he played in Pat Travers.

I walked onto a music store in Palm Desert, CA in the mid 90s and they had that drum rack for sale on consignment. I didn't know he lived out there. I accidentally wandered into a small drum shop nearby that actually had his carbon fiber kit set up. The guy manning the shop said Aldridge taught lessons there. I guess you never know what you'll find.

i think i still have the VHS of this interview. if i remember this tape had pat torpey of mr. big on it too. i've probably seen this a million times! LOL

I saw the video for Here I go again 87 by Whitesnake on RU-vid at the time and Tawny Kitaen was on that video, Tommy Aldridge is huge musical influence on me and he has a groove feel behind the drums. he is one of my favorite drummers of all time. God Bless Tommy Aldridge.

Mans an Animal! My favorite drummer of all time. Him ,Sarzo and Rhoads were Ozzy Osbourne. Greatest band ever to disassemble.

I been a fan of his 20+yrs, Me & a buddy was Def going to see Motley on Girls Girls Girls tour(or was it Theatre of Pain?), anyways, we got our tickets & waited 2 months(15 yrs old), tho it was worth it; Never heard of Whitesnake til that night & when Tommy did his solo, that was it for me, music Full Time, thanx Tommy👍
