Tommy Emmanuel - Those Who Wait 

Some people (at least 35) can't appreciate the delicacy with which he plays this and the total feeling he puts into it. It's far from being technically difficult. It's subtle beauty transends all the technical junk out there by a million miles. You don't have to be a really good guitar player to play this, but you have to be the best to play it like this.

This is what this instrument is for. This makes me cry every time. So beautiful. My wife loved this song before she died. Tommy hugged me after his show. He was so kind. He gives his soul for us.

Seriously, Tommy Emmanuel is the man who I consider to be the best guitarist on planet earth.

You can't beat Tommy for natural ability. No electronic gadgets and gizmos. Just himself and his guitar and bucket loads of talent

One of my saddest day ever in my life will be when Tommy Emmanuel will not exist anymore. He doesn't keep the music for himself, he just like to make other happy and he is so thankful for the music he can express. Look at videos when playing with Adam Rafferty. He always says: "Ladies and gentleman: Adam Rafferty!". Nothing for himself. I like his atitude as much as his music. They are combined. What a great player and man.

This song has great meaning to me. It used to be the song of me and my girlfriend who lives in another country. Now we're not together anymore. The song always makes me cry.

Ive been watching this video for a few years. It bring tears to my eyes. The passion. He is in heaven playing this. I love this man with all my heart. I can play it, but not like him. People take note, this is what music is. This is what we need to find.

Please, please go to any Tommy concert when he's near you. He's even more amazing in person and he loves his followers immensely. I've seen him 5 times in person now and it's amazing to watch the audience first timers mesmorized and seeing tears from their eyes on songs like this one. Just go and you'll understand.

I don't think anyone can match this man's skill, emotion, feel, expressivness, charm and musical eloquence.

I watched this, in the front row, at the Crest, in Sacramento, last year. I just started lessons. The man is "scary good." I had chills while he played this tune.

My favorite guitar player in the world!! If you haven't seen him live, please do yourself a favor and buy tickets next time he's in your area. He's also a very humble person who anyone can approach. GG

Beautiful piece. I met him backstage in March 2017 when he played in Newton NJ and I brought a guitar I had built for him to autograph and sign and he played this song on it. It brought me to tears to hear one of my creations sing with the voice he coaxed out of it.

Seriously screw the list of greatest guitarists of any kind, Tommy is truly epic in his own right and his talent on the guitar will be ranked above all the rest or along side them. Regardless, Tommy is one of the greatest solo guitarists I've ever seen.

The greatest thing about Tommy is that he transcends the guitar. Many players can be appreciated by a guitarist admiring technical skill but Tommy's music needs no knowledge, you need never have touched a guitar to be moved by it.

I dont think I have ever heard a bad tommy emmanuel song. Everything he plays is awesome.

Awesome, and this song has special meaning to my wife and I. Before we married, we saw him do this song on TV. We didn't know the name of the song, but Jules wanted to walk down the aisle to it. I had the good fortune to see Tommy and Andy McKee in Coventry on Saturday. One of the best gigs I've ever seen - and trust me - I've seen a few. Truly awesome.

To characterize Tommy's playing as incredible is an understatement! I finaly got to see him in January...after literally hundreds of concerts I have seen... It was the most moving concert I have ever attended. Calling it a concert is inadequate. He is simply amazing....

This guy is superb and uses something that is rarely seen done effectively with guitarists, especially rock shredders, and that is DYNAMICS.

Tommy Emmanuel uses a thumb pick, hybrid picking, straight pick and no pick as he determines the need. This is a master guitar man.

I just saw Tommy in Glasgow the other night (supported by Andy McKee!!) WHAT A SHOW!!! He really interacts with the audience, very human, note-perfect and so in touch with what he's doing that he can change course mid song, do something unexpected and then come back to what he was originally doing - and in any key!! He is the most gob-smacking performer you will ever see.

I SO AGREE WITH YOU MAN :) TE will always be one of the greatest musicians ever lived. Whether he's accredited by some music institutions or not, He'll always be one of the bests. That's a FACT. He's phenomenal. PURE GENIUS PERIOD.

Yet another wonderful tune by the GREAT TE, the best acoustic guitar player on the planet, as far as I am concerned. With a bit of luck, I will make it to his concert in Sheffield this coming November - can't wait!

It is a Maton BG808 TE. It has a piezo pickup under the bridge and a microphone inside the guitar. Tommy blends the two together to get a true "wood and steel" sound even when plugged in. It is the best sounding acoustic I've ever heard in a concert situation. Of course it helps when someone like the great Tommy Emmanuel is playing it

this is the most beautiful piece of acoustic guitar music i have ever heard. A very moving epic tale of minor modes harmonics and dynamics. This man is an amazing musician. i don't know why i never heard of him before. i guess main stream media figures he cant sell enough pepsi for them.

its just just his guitar skills that makes him one of if not the best, but also his own songs are just words cant describe.

Here I am, posting a few laters after I had first heard this song. Went to see him twice in concert, and I will stick to my original comment. This is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. When he played this live....the place melted, people cried, people hugged, people smiled, people felt....they really felt the beauty.

I discovered this song and Tommy when I was 30, thats 30 years less listening time than I could've had. Downer.

I believe it is best not to over-complicate matters. Forget tabs, this is like painting by numbers! Listen to this composition again and again and get the 'feel' for the notes and melody being played. I don't mind admitting that i get goosebumps when i listen to certain pieces of music like this. I love playing the guitar but there seems to be a never ending craving for fellow players to try and copy masterpieces on the internet to the 'letter'. I just enoy being inspired by genius such as this.

Not that I know more than anyone else, but Tommy is a genuis--you can hear it in every note he plays. I've played for a little better than 30 yrs, and I hope I can achieve just a pinch of his talent before my time is finished!

what I love is most folks think of him as an acoustic guitarist ...hes a GUITARIST period...check out his older san fran sound stuff....what Tommy is is a giant cheese grader of every guitarist - you shove them through and you get Tommy E...simply the best ...and amazing ...period!

As a fellow guitarist of over 30 years, I have to say that there is a specific part of this song (which is unimportant to name), that for me, learning to play would be "guitar playing nirvana". It is just so beautiful, it's beyond words. It would be the pinnacle of my playing career. As such, I've not tried to learn the part, as once accomplished, there would be no reason for me to play the guitar anymore, ie. no reason to live. THANKS A LOT, EMMANUEL:)

His way to make music is not just something that he hears inside of himself. He feels it and shows the feeling through every single note and every single emotion through each of his tunes that he makes and or covers. His style is by far to me unbeatable. There are many guitarist in this world that can play beautifully, but Tommy has something different. He is a very special man/musician. He makes you believe in the music that he plays! It comes to life!

Tommy is wearing sound blocking headphones to ensure that he doesn't hear his music. Being that close to so much awesomeness would make your brain explode.

I absolutely LOVE the fret buzz in this tune. It subliminally adds so much flavor and an air of mystique to this song. It comes from having very little relief (warp) in the neck of his guitar. VERY COOL!

If Tommy was 'just' one of the best acoustic guitar technical communicators/musicians on the planet - which cannot be in doubt -that would be something - but he is also a composer of immense talent - certainly inspires the socks off me and HOW 48 people can give this the thumbs down is beyond comprehension!!

the guy feels every note he plays , and the way he comes across , the way he presents himself .... he,s probably the nicest guy on the planet. good on ya mate .

i love how all artists enter into a whole separate "zone" when they are creating or playing.... whether it's painting, drawing, sculpting, signing, dancing, or playing an instrument. there is a certain feeling of a waterfall of energry. as I watched him play, i noticed his expression was that on someone in that "zone" africans call the art "magara" or "magic" and the connection u see is the cooperation and symmetry between "buzima" and "nommo", the physical and the spiritual essence.

Is it just time for a Blu-Ray version of everything this guys does, isn't it? WOW, love it all. Thanks God for this man.

Beautiful and amazing. Saw him live on May 22nd in South Carolina. Appears to be a genuine soul too. Best live concert I've seen in years. Pure.........brilliant performance. Played over 2 hours.

Most guitars look that way from languishing unused in an attic somewhere but Tommy's looks that way for all the right reasons.

Yeah man, his time is always inpeccable. You could set your watch by him, and yet he always flows, the groove is always there. And that's just one of his many perfected techniques, as you say. He's the joy in music/life personified.

In 2 weeks I'll see him, can't wait :) it got postponed earlier due to illness, he has one tough tour schedule.

The next year, we saw Tommy live, and he told of how he wrote it when people were telling him to go one direction, and in his heart he knew he should go another, making it more appropriate than we knew. After the show, I shared this with him, and he said we made HIS night. That's how sweet and humble this guy is, despite his enormous talent.

SOUL IS EVERYTHING folks! Can't say that enough. So many covers of Tommy's work, even very technically proficient ones, lack the nuances, the spaces, the feel and expression Tommy brings. You can literally see it in his face and body as he plays, he is connected to the music. It separates the best from the rest, and guess what, this is why some of the most emotive and successful musicians were/are not always the most technically proficient. But Tommy's got both - just incredible.

I've have most of his albums and have probably heard this song about 50 times and it still touches me when I hear it. Like most of his songs its not about the virtuoso playing as much as it is about the raw emotion that gets me.
