what a distinguished person. A fantastic man and athlete has maintained himself really well, and is a good sportsman in and out of the ring. Greetings from Italy Thomas, you are an inspiration for this sport! A gentleman!
21 fights and 17 knockouts. I was very young in those years but already passionate about boxing I remember seeing one of his fights on TV. I wish you all the best, good luck to you all :)
I was without doubt the biggest Tommy Hearns fan...he and I are the same age and he inspired me to take up boxing as a 6' 8" Light Heavyweight (yes, I walked around at 178-180 lbs back then). I studied his style in depth and had a few great moments at light heavyweight...boxing like him and I also had four fights where I was able to land the "Hearns" right hand for knockouts. So to see him today like this is sad...yes he was never clearly articulate but now his diction is almost incomprehensible. I hope for him to have a long life and not unduly suffer the effects of CTE which he clearly has.
Seeing Hearns today, rather seeing what Hearns has become, should remind everyone what those who step into the ring are risking. I am considerably older than Thomas. I accept that I'm not the man I once was. However, I may have lost a step or two due to ageing, but Thomas can hardly communicate. This is often the cost fighters and others who engage in violent sports pay. You can only have your bell rung so many times and walk away unscathed. I've had mine rung a few times, but some, those like Thomas, have simply received too many incidents of head trauma. Violence comes at a cost. As much as I enjoy both boxing and football I hate knowing I have played a role in the suffering others experience as a direct result of my interests. I do hope the day comes when we can better protect our athletic heroes. Yeah, we have done a lot, yet there is still so much that needs to be done.
@@JukeHighwalker Regardless of defense, The Hitman Hearns fought 67 fights most of which were the most action packed, hard hitting matches in UFC history. Even if his defense matched his skills, he would still be in rough shape due to the sheer amount of punches he took in his career.
This guy was a born knockout puncher. Both Leonard and Tyson talked about Hearns as one of the biggest punchers on the planet. Hope he is okay and happy after that so many gruelling battles in the ring.
Yeah he may have a case of cte after taking all those hits , he still looks sharp though & him fighting martin was a hilarious episode but hopefully he have ppl around him looking out for him 🙏🏾
