Wow!... so glad to find this testimony. I have loved hearing Tommy James and the Shondells since a lad in the 60s, and now to find that it was his love of Jesus that spearheaded some all time great rock-n-roll songs... well... it just don't get any better then that! (to borrow a phrase) :)

Here it is 2012 End of Summer and I still listen to this after how many years went by. I used to wait in the backseat of the car waiting for Mom to come out of the grocery store with Din Din and now I'm an old man and to this day late at night I cue this up and feel infinity for three minutes. Test of time...Passed.
What is amazing here is it was raining dark and then sunny all day long. I asked my kid to look out at this crazy weather. Dark again. I felt like putting Crystal Blue Persuasion that I have always loved.. I was always conflicted. Because we all know the counterfeit looks to put a spin on what God does. I didn't know if what he really was speaking of was of God. So I casted from my phone to the TV. I looked outside and there was the most beautiful rainbow ive ever seen. Again I was conflicted and I happened. Nothing happens by chance and I saw this video posted which totally answered my question. Now I can really enjoy that song.
I am so glad I saw this interview. I really never associated Tommy with these songs. I was 10 years younger. Most recently I heard crimson and clover in a movie and looked it up and have been hooked. Thank you for showing your human side
If you are saying the song Crystal Blue Persuassion is about meth, you are very wrong. If I am wrong in what I see, then I apologize. Crystal Blue Persuassion is about the second coming of Jesus.
I always thought in my heart crystal blue persuasion was spiritual and my mom loved that song too .im 67 and was so happy to hear from Tommy's mouth it was .im so happy that He found our Saviors love .
What wonderful, youthful music these guys put together. Brings back great memories for me at very turbulent time for young American kids to grow up in.

This is what I like about Tommy. He has made mistakes like everyone else has and he has come out on top. With his status, he does not have to be a multi millionaire to find happiness. He found Jesus and has found happiness in showing others the light given to him by God. God Bless Tommy.
This is wonderful. In 1969 we were a very God seeking generation. I knew this song was about God or Jesus. I got to see them my senior year. Great story. So glad I happened on to this.
Tommy James has written many Christian-based songs. A later song he wrote that comes to mind is "Megamation Man." The song draws from the Book Of Revelation.

There is a blue book called the "Truth" its published by Jehovah's Witnesses . We always thought maybe Crystal blue persuasion was about this book based on the bible.
He told a talk show host years ago, that he was studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, along with a small blue book published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. It was entitled "The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life". He stated that his song, Crystal Blue Persuasion, was written about the Bible truths he learned while he was studying with the Witnesses.
You don't know Tommy James ten. I know you are just taunting me and others like myself. But Tommy hardly deserves the ridicule you have given. How would you like it if you made millions of dollars(multi) and the owner of the record company took it all from you? How would you react? I think Mr. James has be an example to others that you can forgive and forget what others do to you. Examine yourself before judging others.
