During covid I was walking in a grocery store crying 2 relatives & 1 friend passed away. Then this song came on over the loud speaker and I 😃 smiled and danced. It was miraculous my mood totally changed, and I felt happy. Thank you Tommy!!!! 💘 love your songs! 🎵🎶🎵 God Bless you!!!!!
Maybe they were sending it to you! I want this and many others played at my wake. I had a cousin by marriage that had kidney disease & wanted the music that he loved played at his funeral with his casket closed & pictures everywhere of when he was young. He was always such an upbeat guy. I want my done similarly.
that's a nice story, it was meant to be. Not from God or whatever, it was just meant to be. My mum used to sing this song when i complained, randomly found it and brought me so many happy memories
I read this and started crying, it's like that scene from Steel Magnolias, when the daughter dies and Clairese grabs Wheezer and tells Malene to "Knock her lights out!" and you're crying so hard, you can't hardly catch your breath and then that Iconic line, and your laughing so hard.! Music can be healing to our souls
@@beckettjoas8519 My Twin brother and I were born in August, 1950, and, by heck, all this music is TOTALLY our favourite!. We grew up with this, and many other genres and styles of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Absolutely fabulous times and experiences!.
Great song. Reminds me of playing hockey Saturday night and heading out for a bite to eat with the boys. Great memories. Really didn't matter if we won or lost. It was the song I remembered .
I remember that performance on Ed Sullivan, and in Color, lol. My gramma bought my 1st 45 of this song @ 11 y.o, and I played it till I wore it out. Teen love....Im absolutely heart broken to just learn what the bastards did to you. His Karma got him Tommy, and you still have the most valuable gift of life and EXTREME talent. Feels like Ive known you for years, and very close to my heart. Gods blessings. Perfect time for a comeback I say, we are ALL hungry for some comfort food.
Billy Idol added a bit more shout into it and made it a song that makes all jump and dance. Or maybe it is because I was born too late for the original.
Mony Mony is the absolute best dance song of all time! It doesn't matter what kind of mood you are in, Mony Mony will 100% Guaranteed turn your bad, sad, or whatever mood into a good mood and it just can't help but put you into a FUNtastic dance mood and get you movin and a groovin... Huge Thanks and Love ❤ to Tommy James and the Shondells for writing such a great mood busting song and also, for making us All feel so Young again and getting the kinks outta them old bones of ours! I'd like to also give a little mention to Billy Idol who actually did a pretty good job at it too! But, we ALL know that Tommy James and his Shondells did it the absolute GREATEST!! Thus why TJ's Mony Mony will go on Always and Forever and be the #1 mood busting song and Never die out!
This music, and this particular group, contributed to and help shaped my childhood. I hear these songs, and vivid memories and people come to mind. For whatever reason, this song reminds me of going to my grandmothers house, and two cousins in particular.
I love his voice, it isn’t an infatuation but something is very phenomenal with his voice and how he became what he is to us. When I don’t feel well, I would listen to his music and all is better.
Friday night summer road trip to Jersey shore in an 8 year old convertible with my buds...back when a gallon of gas and a pack of cigarettes both cost 26 cents and a $20 bill all that was needed for a great week end...with great driving tunes....and no 55 mph speed limits. Good times.
Seen Tommy 4x and met him 3x. One of the nicest guys out there. He can flat out play. Still sounds amazing and his current group of Shondells are just as good!
I was still in my early teens growing up listening to this electrifying music. It brings memories of juke boxes, the mobile funfair that used to come to our village, and dances. It rekindles memories of the the vigour and power of my teens when life was still an adventure.
@@patsygroves3812 We certainly had it better than today's Generation! I would not want to be a young adult today! An old quote, It was the best of times, it was the worse of times but it was our Time!💓 I think I made up part of that!😉 Best wishes and many Blessings to you and yours!!💕
My fav in the 60's. I did the miles for millions walk and listened for 32 miles. I finally saw them at the ex and again at casino rama a few years ago. What great memories. The bass player said I know exactly when he hits the notes. Great time!
Just saw Tomy and Shondells last night in Jersey, he sounds the same. Amazing show ! His book is also a very good read and now there will be a show and a movie. Has to be good .

In high school we had a 24 hour dance a thon to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. This was in 1983-1986 in the fall, as I graduated in spring of 1987. The dances were legendary, and highly anticipated every year. This song would be played numerous times during the 24 hour period. Recently I met a current teacher from my former high school, and immediately asked if they still held the dance a thon’s. Apparently the teacher who instigated the event had long since retired, and the dances had ceased to be held. Part of my heart broke that day as each participant had the absolute time of their lives each year. Most of us can recall the Lancer Line Dance created for the event. Sometimes I really do think that the old days were just better no matter how much people say it’s just memories…
