I go back to this video often. The fact that Tommy is getting that kind of tone from an epiphone is ridiculous. It’s just....so damn good. Graveyard Shift makes you go whoa......👍 I wish he would come to California.
@David Taber I agree with you. But are you saying that playing a 59 Les Paul is on par with an epiphone? That was my point. Does the gear really matter? No. But I do have a question. If gear doesn’t matter than why do guys like Joe Bonamassa covet 59 Les pauls and exclusively play those? Status? Ego? Tommy would probably sound better on a 59 Les Paul but the differences would be slight. The reason why he sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan and sounds great is bc of his fingers. He even has a video about it. Have a nice day. 👍
He has been. Repeatedly, with Texas flood. He was rated the number one Stevie Ray Vaughan impersonator in North America by guitar player magazine. That was either 2018 or 19.
@@kamb26 No. There is no guitar that can compare to the tone of a classic LP. That is pretty amazing the sound that he is getting out of an Epiphone, unheard of.
the young man is awesome too! if you look into his eyes, he is some place fun whilst he plays. Also notice, he was watching Tommy and understood what he was doing, like he was saying to himself "Yeah, I can do that" Bright , bright future!
This guy is super talented, don't know if he is still playing for the SRV tribute band , but in my opinion, it is best for him to find Tommy's tone and add SRV as a flavor and spice.
Tommy can play some wicked SRV licks and his SRV Tribute band is probably the best out there, but I like these Albert King covers , he seems more relaxed and comfortable... this shit is fuckin awesome. These are the guys he needs to take on a tour. I’m listening to this as I am writing... these guys blow his “Texas Flood” band away. Tommy bring this band to the states bro👍🎸🎼you are going to the next level
i tell ya this, ive seen tommy 2 times live in a little club in Maryland, hes the best guitarist ive ever seen !!! Hands down the best !!! and ive seen every big rock star there is live !! its a Crime this man isnt well known ! all over the world i cant believe no known musician hasnt helped this kid out !! buch of damm jealous assholes cause i know some famous musician has seen him. ! wished the hell i had the money cause id get this kid to the top !! hes as good as any famous guitarist ! and better than MOST !!!! if only SRV was still alive i know hed help this kid !!!
That kid is going somewhere, I think he just needs a bit more feeling dynamics wise and it would really push him to that next level. Truly amazing to see someone that young play like that!
I HATE that you guys aren't more mainstream. I've watched Katina for 10 plus years...but he's still small time. He sounds JUST like SRV ...and about as close as anyone with the voice AND skills on the axe.
I like how tight this guy plays. There is more technique behind that does not show. This is not his 110%. There is a reserve. (Or at least that's how I hear it)

Missing some deep feel and ease. Blues is not about playing all the licks as much and fast as you can. Guitar too loud. More band and especially bass please!
