I saw that tour in FL. I remember it like it was yesterday. Almost no one knew who GnR was. Two girls in front of us were wearing GnR jean jackets. We asked them about the group as they told us how awesome they were. Slash was too drunk or stoned to play right. Axl and the rest were pretty good. I also remember driving home in a convertible jeep CJ7 with the local radio station blaring out "Paradise City". Again, before this song or group was known. I was in the mall the next day buying Appetite for Destruction. God I miss the 80s!!!!!!!! Side note: Motley was good too....but set was way too short. Vince was starting to mail it in, so to speak. I remember Tommy's drum solo, which was really awesome.

I turned 18 on St. Thomas US Virgin Islands at the 18th latitude in the Caribbean in 1987. The drinking age is 18 there, and there was no penalty for a minor having/buying/selling booze until 2019. Of course, that is the backdoor US customs entrance, so quite a bit of very pure cocaine passes through regularly. The days after they announce they find a bail or two of cocaine out you can't get a boat to go out on, and people come from Puerto Rico in their boats to look too.

Spent all my paper route money on paying for gas/tickets/hotel room/food and we had to buy buddy's brother his booze, but he got us hammered with it both times. Lol. My buddy's older brother drove us up from Regina. I was 12 -13 yrs old. It would have been the first leg of both tours. The second leg is when GnR joined Motley.

I remember the first time I saw them in the Ritz NYC there was about 100 people…… insane! What a show! They came back to do an MTV concert and the place was sold out! It was a deluge of rain that night……. We had to park around 10 blocks away (city blocks are huge) and while walking to the gig drunk off my ass I lost my ticket. There was 4 of us so I took my friends keys and told them to enjoy the show while I sleep it off. Soaking wet I trudged back to my buddies van and with about 2 blocks to go something caught my eye in the blaring city lights…. It was my ticket floating on top of a giant puddle. About a half hour later I showed up to the show soaked through my underwear, made my way up to the front, found my friends and at the end of the show Slash jumped right on top of me….. What a night!

I saw them Wednesday, November 25, 1987 with Gun's in Lakeland FL . But Guns had just joined the Crue on this tour and it was sill being advertised as Motley Crue with Whitesnake. We hadn't as yet heard of Guns N Roses and were very disappointed. When Guns played the crowd just stood there silent with very little fan fare or cheering. It was as if we were just all waiting for them to finish so we could at least see the Crue. The show was double sold out for two days, and this was the 2nd of such shows. The Crue played at a higher and faster tempo so their songs sounded as if someone pressed the fast forward button on an old tape player ( but not quite that fast). It was cool but fell short of the many concerts I've seen since.

Yeah, there's not a whole lot from the LA Glam scene that holds up, but the Crue were always respectable answer to the question of "what would happen if you crossed Kiss with DLR era Van Halen and threw in a touch of New York Dolls?" Both Nikki and Tommy seemed a lot more capable at handling their partying than most. Slash and Duff seemed too out of control. Mick Mars seemed like his primary concern was always to be a musician. I feel sorry for Steven Adler. He wasn't mentally equipped for that lifestyle. Not many people are. It's nice to see Axl at 0:40 with Slash talking good things about Vince and The Crue. It's a shame those days didn't last long. I also feel sorry for Duff for wanting to sober up and then realizing he lived in the beast of the belly. He lost his pancreas as a result. It's a shame there weren't more people inclined to keep both bands together. Vince really didn't have to leave/be fired. Sure, every band has a peak but they never really recovered after that. But there was no reconciling Guns n' Roses. Their music was always the priority over partying though. It's just a shame that there was no way to bridge the artistic and personality differences between Slash and Axl, because combined, with the band of Izzy, Duff and Steven, it was a phenomenal band that really should have been making solid albums throughout the 90s. If you have listened to either _Contraband_ or _Chinese Democracy_ or any of the many other projects they worked on, you would know that they were all still quite artistically capable.

maybe so as Motley wasnt in their top form in late 1987 as the video clearly tells us, Unlike say 1981-1984 wild, crazy insane vicious & merciless ultraviolent and Epic (musically/concertwise) Shout at the Devil tour-era Motley Crue (esp all of 1984). Had THAT earlier, younger less messed up version of CRUE toured with Appetite-era GNR, then THAT truly wouldve been One HELL of a kickass badass insane & insanely crazy show yet in that rare unique kickass/badass scenario I would have to give the CRUE (1981-1984 era CRUE) the edge/advantage both over GNR as well as over many many other small & large bands equally.

Yes, once the pervert is he straddling, started sexually harassing Vince Neil‘s wife everything went downhill from that point after Vince Neil literally knocked out Izzy straddling at the MTV award show. That started the feud between Vince and Axl Rose. It was none of Axl roses business. No man should put his hand on another man’s woman, so Vince would be in the right.

Saw GnR open for Aerosmith in 87. Went for them and was a bit dissapointed. They didn't have the sound system to fill an arena at that time and you had to struggle to figure out what song they were playing. Maybe that was the opposite of this situation with Crue in that Aerosmith didn't allow GnR to have a substantial sound system??

I saw this tour in ATL...famous show when Axl dove off-stage onto a security guard who was roughing up a girl...it was during It's So Easy (the opener)....he was handcuffed, taken roughly through the crowd back to a holding area, then arrested and thrown into the Fulton Co jail AND...my friend who was in the same holding cell for disrespectful drunken behavior with a cop after his friend was pulled over for a traffic violation, got to hang and talk with Axl for 30 min before he sprung bail. ALL A TRUE STORY! BTW...G&R played 2 more songs off sans Axl, then Adler did a short drum solo and walked off stage too boos from the crowd. FYI...Motely Crue was good that night, not great.

Ratt were alright but they fizzled out pretty quickly, they had a great EP a great debut, a strong follow up then pretty boring stuff from then on and while Motley and GNR were at the very top til the early 90's most people were saying "WTF Happened to Ratt, remember them?" Because they just didn't have the songs, Crue and GNR had it all in spades hence the jealousy from the odd Ratt and Twisted Sister fan who pop their head out once in a while to talk ish.
