These videos you do are brilliant. I've been fitting a kitchen and watched them many times for reassurance. Better than Tommy himself...you need a TV show. Top man
Best tutorials I've watched... (and I watch loads)...no words wasted...very clear...great energy...and always bob on with the safety reminders. Many thanks !!
Dave, all ure videos are brilliant, keep em coming, if you have an apprentice, he is very lucky, and when you said the clamp needs cardboard and then the flick of the wrist was just hilarious, love it!!!!!
Doing this next week. Last time I cut a hole for a sink was 9 years ago. Absolutely BRILLIANT refresher course. Measure twice (or more, cut once). And I FORGOT about turning the worktop over so you dont rip the rolled edge to bits. A delight to watch!
Champion bro, thanks for sharing. I'm rebuilding my caravan and the bench tops are rotten. Actually most of the Caravan was rotten hahahaha, a few grand and some hard labour and it's back to new again. Going to buy new bench tops and thanks to your insightful video, I will be able to nail it first go. All the best mate!
Well done Dave, well explained with good tips along the way for novices, keep up the good work.Hope to see you in many more videos on here, also very good picture quality to see the detail in your work .
Fab. Thankx again Tommy. That was very instructive; and well filmed. Jigsaw from the top was interesting. And Yes, the blade does angle out quite a lot doesn't it?
The thumb up is fine. I really can't understand the thumb down of some people. Why on earth someone will not like something good? Perhaps , that's the answer... something is to good for them..
This guy (Dave?) is a legend! This is the third time his videos have helped me out with my new kitchen installation. These are the best DIY videos I have found on RU-vid. All the best to you Dave.
That was very good Tommy. You have helped me tremendously. 9 years ago I fitted a 3m laminate worktop, cut the sink hole upside down in the middle of the kitchen, about 20mm left on each side as I cut the worktop to 500mm. On my own, got under it and lifted with my 65 (then) year old shoulders, and it broke right across the thinnest part. That was the last time I cried !!! Now about to redo the whole kitchen with your help. Many thanks for your video.
Great video. Watched as a refresher as it's been years since I've done one. Nice, simple, and straight forward with a few tricks of the trade learned in the process. thanks for doing this.
This was my introduction to your Trade Secrets videos. It left me with the confidence that I needed to complete this type of chore. Thanks for your smooth accent too. I do not have a plunge router only the basic style. But there is no doubt that it will do the job.
Excellent video. My tools / drills need upgrading as they're not up to your standard. I'm going to watch again because cutting with a router scares me to death.
No, if you use an up ward cutting blade on a laminated top you will rip the laminated top to bits, you would then turn the worktop upside down and use the upward cutting blade. this will pull up into the laminated top without pulling it away from the chipboard backing. OR you buy downward cutting blades and this give a great cut without ripping the laminate to bits. do a google search for the blades. this is not a joke the two blades do different jobs and a down ward facing blade in a Jij Saw is best when cutting worktop . I hope this helps...
I've done it with an upward cutting blade but I knife marked first. The downcut blade that I had was a very slow cut. Don't know if they are all like that, maybe it was a cheap blade.
+Tommy's Yard Cut my first bit of laminate worktop today with a router and really impressed with it. Even managed to cut the hole out for the built in hob. I'll be using a router from now on. Thanks.
Brilliant set of videos - i am having a kitchen delivered and have learnt from these films that the best thing to do is get a professional in to do the jobs!
I dont know about all you guys but something about this guy brings you into the job like your right there, any apprentice ideal buddy. id come work with you for free a week and see if I dont mess the job up
Dave, you are superb...great vids....i cant go wrong having watched this and the other video 'How to Mitre a Worktop using a Router & Jig'.....fingers crossed
Great series of videos. Just started a diploma course at College and already picked up a lot of tips from the videos I've watched so far. Thanks Dave ;)
Thanks for another great video. These are some of the best construction/DIY videos on the tube. Learned a lot, and picked up many tips. Many hints that I just wouldn't have thought of. Now you're in the kitchen with a router, any chance of a video jigging, cutting and joining 2 worktops on a corner joint? There's nothing on the web for this that you could sensibly follow to do this job. Anyway, thanks again!
