That’s true, without difficulties which man faced he is weak. I’ve been struggling with addiction for over 2 years. I hated it but it made me strong, it changed me forever and I’m glad it did.
Thank you so much for this video. It honestly came at the perfect time for me. I've been struggling with my mental health for years but something happened this weekend that finally pushed me over the edge. I've always been the type to bottle up my emotions because of the stigma around depression, therapy, etc. but this time I opened up to two of my closest friends because I've finally allowed myself to admit that whatever methods I tried in the past is not working. Your perspectives combined with the retelling of Tommy's story arch actually helped me a ton today. Might have to rewatch the show actually haha.
I really can relate in some capacity there was a event in my life too a few weeks ago that suddenly flipped the switch. Keep it up you have the strength it takes im proud of you ❤

Hey J, I just wanted to say that I am amazed by your work. Your analysis are always on point, giving us another perspectives and showing the most important lessons of each series. Keep it up❤️🔥
The part about hard times is very true. When I was in primary school, I would usually hand in assignments very late, which is a bad thing. So I used to be constantly yelled at humiliated infront of my class as young as 7. Then would be the breaking point, the point where the teacher would try to call my parents or even tell the principal. That scared the shit out of me and I used to cry and cry and beg and beg to not happen. Now, 6 years later, I can’t even cry at my grandma’s funeral. I don’t get startled when the teacher calls my name. I have nothing to be faxed off, and that is true for Tommy. I didn’t need to go to war or get PTSD. But I can tell you trauma is trauma, and that will always change a man
Same man I feel like I’ve cried so much at anger and Shit in my life when I was young that I got nothing left I don’t cry anymore I just feel tired and walk away now I give no fucks and I’m only 17 maybe that’s a good thing maybe not
Once again, thank you again for creating this video analysis, J. Wisdom, because we need video topics like this on how to handle emotional, mental, and spiritual health in our lives. It's really about developing self-awareness by knowing who you are, and being that authentic version of yourself. We are all on the path of self-awareness. Perhaps we do know ourselves, but have not been paying attention. Maybe we are too busy focusing on other people, and things in our lives! But the time has come to focus more on ourselves. PS: Do you think that you can do another analysis video about Raylan Givens from Justified, Frank Martin from The Transporter Franchise, Martin Byrde from Ozark, and John Wick.
I know this is an older video but Tommy is one of my favorite characters ever. He's actually very realistic and complex. He's a badass but he's also broken, he does what he does because he doesn't feel like he has anything to lose. Grace was the first hope he'd had since the war but she was taken away, and so he deteriorated even further. It is very clear that he is struggling and extremely unhappy... not a role model.
Brilliant video wow 👌 i think it should of been called The truth about masculinity ( example Thomas shelby ) tho as you do great job of explaining about all men n it may attract more views. Just a thought ❤. Well done amazing work 👏 👍
If you enjoy subjects about masculinity and mastery, I invite you to explore the videos I share on the Mastery Order Channel. Challenge yourself with some ideas about manhood, explore your masculine potential to the maximum and become the kind of man you would admire and respect. We can only better ourselves together, as men among men, so I invite you to use what I share and, of course, share your own points of view so that others can benefit from them as well. All the best to you!
I admire, respect, and appreciate Cillian Murphy that's who I know him as and not by his stage name he didn't even choose his own name when conceived and brought into the world at birth his biological parent's father/mother came up with the name therefore he's non of the labels nor character's/personas he believes he maybe rather he's a spiritual being with a huge heart and a huge mind the only down fall to that is alot of the time we're taken for granted, used, and abused from all angles of life I'm also thankful that Cillian Murphy is a part of my spiritual awakening and most certainly will keep him within my prayer requests when connecting with GOD through his SON JESUS CHRIST via The Holy Spirit's Presence GOD willing and GOD BLESS you champ! ☺️☺️🦁🦁🔥🔥📖📖✝️✝️
Men, talk to your brothers not your partner. They will use it against you because it’s leaning towards your feminine. I’m not saying never be vulnerable with them, just limit it.
This Man This Man Really Made Me Post A Comment But I Cant Describe How Much This Video Was Helpful. Thanks Man For Making Such A Nice Video. This Made Me Think About Life At A Whole Another Level. He Is The Person I Would Like To Meet In Person. His Words Made A Deep Impact.... Truly. I Don't Know What Should I Refer You With But He Is Like A Guide. Thanks Sir @J Wisdom Love From India.
no he failed. he was never successful. he never achieved anything he wanted he just kept trying to build up more power to feel like he could finally stop. but he couldn’t. The point of the show is that you cannot twist pain onto power in a good sense, because the power will always produce anger and pain. you have to process your own pain. tommy shelby is a failure and the entire conflict of the show is him fighting that reality that the path he wants won’t work, and his trauma prevents him from changing. all this sigma male nonsense is just that. j is right to acknowledge the importance of mental health but he misses some other points.
Glad I gave your video a proper chance. I absoultely cannot stand the childish "sigma male grindset" type clowns who pretend every conversation is a confrontation, every man who isn't your friend is ripe for manipulation and every woman ripe for seduction, assuming they can figure out how to balance that with their hatred (or fear) of them at the same time. You do a pretty great job of walking the lines of talking about masculinity in - for a lack of a less triggering word to some - non toxic way. You call take a moment to call out those who think women are somehow collectively fucked up today as if humans aren't fundamentally the same as they've always been, cultural variations aside. You even took a positive angle on mental health, which is at least becoming more common, but still far from where it should be to the average person. Mental health is a big one, and sort of the most ironic one as far as the types I have disdain for go. Many of them are dealing with issues that they ought to hash out, but as you observed, too many of those types have that warped view of masculinity and think you're some kinda pussy because you might depressed, or have panic attacks when in certain places or after certain things happen. What's weak is to put down other men. What's strong is to be willing to open yourself up to someone, especially if you're taking the additional steps of doing so with a complete stranger in the form of a therapist. When you're hurting, there's real strength and bravery in it. It took the death of Tommy's daughter to finally trigger and snap the right things in his brain to get him to take life, his mind and his health more seriously. The suffering he inflicted on others in that damaged state as he went about attempting to have his way with the world was something he couldn't take back, and it weighed greatly on him. One of the most impactful things to me in the final seasons was not only that Tommy had real regrets, but that he had so many of them that he kept a dedicated fucking book/journal of them. And when Lizzy went to be angry and insulted to see her name at the top of his list, it was a sign of how much he was hurting because of how he hurt others. Without his daughter, without the booze, a sharper mind also meant sharper introspection, and he fucked up big time in his treatment of her. And admitting that to Lizzy, as much as it was less than ideal and caused more pain for them both, was exactly the sort of thing the pseudo-alpha/sigma types might have you believe was weak if it were to come from anyone else. Came into this with more direction intended in what ended up being sorta rambling, but TL;DR, props to you for intelligently handling both this little analysis of Tommy and discussion of the merits and pitfalls of masculinity and the discussion thereof. Think I'ma check out your channel to see if there's any other good shit on there.
Actually thommy treats his family like shit. That he provide for his family is only an excuse for his ambition and his coping mechanism to deal with is mental health issues. His wife dies because of his dangerous life style. His brother john dies because of it, polly dies, who is like a mother for him. He kills his cousin micheal. His sister ada gets nearly killed and raped several times because of his actions. His brother finn gets excluded from the family. He broke the heart of his second wife lizzy and he isn't a good dad for his own son, who prefer to live with his stepmum instead of him. He treats lizzy like shit. He promise her to tell her the truth about him, but at the end he did not and tells no one about his deadly illness and wants to die alone without them knowing. He also treats arthur like shit.
*Thomas Shelby OBE* • By far my favorite anti-hero of ANY television series. Truly iconic. Also, that (2:47) was an inspiring & authentic inducement from you my guy. It’s a gift to be able to invigorate people as well as you do
This is inspiring and it goes beyond motivation it's helped change my mindset personally from this video. I will now and always look at masculine men and learn myself to be masculine and persevere through struggles knowing I'll be better at the other end of the tunnel.
I liked this video,,but the last minutes was very boring to me. I must say never depend on anyone. It is a false information giving. If influencers like you encourage in finding a women the youngsters will think about it and will chase women to succeed in their life. The truth about life is nothing is permanent ,live to succeed your life by yourself.
I absolutely love, how there is an Unscripted book by MJ DeMarco in the background. Great video man! The Peaky Blinders are great. You just earned yourself a new subscriber.
Very great message that you spread in your content my friend, soon you will be at the top. The only requirement from you to do that is to never give up. Keep going brother
Bro...i just want to say that your videos help me a lot!! the way you breakdown characters ect, really amazing i have applied it to my life and its gotten better ever since i just want to thank you mate :)
We can just fake Tommy. To get there, he suffered trauma a lot, what he got over made him who he is. One point that we should not learn from though is to sooth ourselves by consuming alcohol. Smoke is the same. These are just short-term solutions, for-the-moment solutions. Talk to a person that you trust, and find a solution for good is even better!
Great video, genuinely your videos are fascinating. Could you also do some game of thrones characters such as jon snow, tyrion lannister or danaerys targaryan?
Hey man, you might not remember me but I went to your secondary school. If you remember me, you will. If you don’t, never mind. Anyways, I stumbled upon your channel and I must say, I’ve taken a lot of lessons from here and this video in particular. Don’t stop your thing and continue to educate others
Maybe you haven't been through the hard times that he has or experienced the level of trauma that he did. I have been through harder times than he and have experienced worse trauma. And thus and such I do not fear death, any human or anything. I eat trauma for breakfast. I long for it. I have no emotional weakness and no equal.
First time seeing your video. You are very sensible. I really impressed the way you pulled out all the good things from the character like Thomas Shelby.
I think rather than ‘masculinity’ you mean ‘strength of character’. These traits are important (arguably, essential) to any human being, man or woman. Not all men are strong and not all strong people are men.
I was with you until you brought up Tyson Fury, I don't know how much Boxing you watch or know but trust me Tyson Fury isn't what you think. He is a clown & a con artist...a very good manipulator who has seemed to fool the general public into believing he is this great champion by overcoming his demons...demons that he still indulges in behind closed doors. Still...outside of that excellent video and I am looking forward to your next work.
