for real imagine listening to tommy ramble off to chat while he misses good parts of the video. smh, his reactions anger me sometimes but i still enjoy it i guess.
does chat not know that the majority of people throughout history were anti-semites or would be considered anti-semitic by today's standard? That is not a defense of antisemitism, but it's important to look at history in context.
@@XXXTENTAClON227 idk all religions are pretty shitty. i mean groups of hindus have been acting very anti-islam in india bc of pakistani-indian tensions but i agree that christianity is generally more violent than hinduism
@@stale.baguette yes that it is a good point. Maybe Sikhism is the most peaceful middle ground? Besides Buddhism of course. Imo if a religion is huge then the likelihood increases for it to be violent
I watch both RU-vid and twitch and prefer RU-vid because I have a life and can’t always spend 5 hours watching the ginger play achievements. Also I hate viewers on twitch because it’s all stupid memes and mainly idiotic comments. For example I bet most of the twitch viewers don’t hate the RU-vid viewers they act like it because it’s a meme.
As a Catholic, I wish I could just sit down and talk with you about why things are the way they are in the Church. Jesus was poor, yes, and greed is obviously considered sinful, but the beautiful art and architecture of the Church is meant to convey the majesty of Jesus, who was also a King after all. The beauty of the Church is not restricted to a few powerful Church leaders in the same way that a private jet or mansion belongs exclusively to a billionaire. Every Catholic, and frankly every visitor to a Catholic Church, benefits from their beauty. Also, the Catholic Church is the world's largest charity. But it believes that it must feed the mind and soul as much as the body.
When he’s going over the 10 commandments and is all like “no Christian follows these”. Like yeah, okay? Everyone is a sinner and that doesn’t make you any less Christian. He has so much to say about something he doesn’t understand.
Also the first pope was st. Peter who was chosen to this task by Jesus himself according to Bible. Kind of shows how many people dont actually know stuff but love to make jokes and insults about christianity.
Why not go for Scotland: Imagine fighting the mujahedeen but a lot angrier also in the mountains, in terrible snow. Now imagine holding onto that land. The Romans couldn't do it The Vikings couldn't / didn't want to do it The English tried a couple times but died to the black death So pretty much the English went up to the scots and said "hey if u stay up there are we stay down here we cool right?" and the answer was yes There is also a reason why Hadrian's' wall was built and you don't mess with Scottish blokes
Yeah tbf the only way the English got control of the Scots was through diplomatic integration so you right. I mean Cromwell managed to do it kinda but that failed.
it is so hard to watch Tommy ask questions about Christianity and get stupid and wrong answers from non-Christians. I go to a Theology University and have a degree in history and would love to answer his questions from an educated standpoint

Protestantism (or Lutheranism) would probably be what Tommy is looking for. The only authority that protestants would typically refer to would be *sola scriptura*, which means that the bible is the highest and only authority for the word of God. Luther stated that the church was a man-made institution, and had no real connection to God.
My dad is a lutheran vicar and I sometimes go to church. Any christian can technically believe whatever they want because in the end religion is in a persons head. Religion is personal.
@@Le0A yes. I am Catholic, but I don't go to Church to support anything that's wrong with it. I go to pray and think there, sure I pay tax for it, but the priest taking care of the place and the graves where my ancestors are buried should live somehow. Also the child molesting in the Church is teribble, but I highly doubt that the Pope is responsible for it or can do anything about it, since it's unfortunately been going on for decades and it is rooted in so deep that it is hard to track it. I believe that it is the reason why the last Pope abdicated. He couldn't deal with it anymore, seeing what became of the Church, the place that should be dedicated to Jesus and his teachings.
I love Tommy, but his view of faith is just... childish. "How can you be Catholic if church have did so many wrong things?", "You are Catcholic because your parents were Catholic" What's the difference between this and "How can you be German if Germany have done so many wrong things?" or "You are German because your parents were German". Catholic Church is doing so much for poor people, it has more orphanages, support centres and stuff like that, then all of feminist and liberal organisations in the whole world. It's cool to judge when you live in one of the best countries in the world, try going to Asia and helping villagers to survive, dig some wells and shit. Catholic church is actually doing this a fucking lot.
Hey Markoni, thank you for you hard work with making these, it really helps when I miss the streams due to timezone differences, merry christmas and keep up the good work!

Tommy says exactly what i think about the church, especially the catholics. Why base your believes entirely on things other people made up for you? The bible is a wild mix of history, mythology and legend to begin with, why would you want to have a interpretation forced on you by a very small elite instead of making your own mind about it?
@@mxxv6950 Noone said that it is forced on anyone. A good christian doesn't have to be in the church to be a good christian in my mind (even though I'm 100% sure there are many people out there who will not agree with that) We just argued about how much sense the church really makes after all
@@theselfishangryguy1946 i know i learn the gospel everyday at school but i'm simplifying it as much as possible considering the probable predominantly non believers in the comment section
The English kings had a very strong claim to the French throne that I dont want to explain bcz it's so fuckin complicated Also, Martin Luther started his reformation by trying to convert Jews bcz he believed that the only reason they didn't convert was bcz catholics were evil, but when Jews didn't want to convert to protestanism, he started being an antisemite and made their lives so bad in the HRE that they moved to the catholic and orthodox lands of Poland, Ukraine, Russia and more, and thats how you get so many Ashkenazi Jews from eastern Europe.
Tommy, I some times watch your streams. but I don't have twitch open often so I don't know who are when people stream. Also I just prefer video format much more concise.

36:40 A Christian that doesn’t believe in the church, and only believes in God is a Non-Denominational Christian. I also do agree that most churches, if it’s a catholic, Protestant, etc. are wrong in their teachings, so I stick to the Bible, because the Lord communicates to us through his word, which is the Bible.
I am sad that my favorite streamer, which I cannot watch due to different time zones, and his auditory thinks badly, just because i can't do anything but I watch him through YT of Markoni :(
15:34 although it may seem stupid now thanks to the battle of Hastings and the Norman conquest English Kings had a permanent claim to the French throne, they believed that it was their duty to reconquer trance well from the French... After the 100 year war the claim was diminished, but after the period of individual Kings England and France went to war because that's just what England and France do, they're rivals, they fight. Also for the most part English Kings would invade Scotland and colonise Ireland it just took a backdrop.
English kings were always after France because from Edward III (1340s) they made various claims to the French throne. In fact Henry V was later recognised by the French monarchy as Regent and heir apparent (i.e. that he and his heirs would be the kings of France on the death of the French king). The British monarchy finally dropped the claim to the French throne in 1802. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_claims_to_the_French_throne#Original_claimants
It’s really understated how significant Henry V could’ve been. This man came from a country with 2 million people, wasn’t the sole heir to the throne, yet somehow he managed to annex the ENTIRETY of France, a population of 20 million, not just Normandy or Aquitaine, but he literally united France and England under the same crown: or at least that was the reality until he conveniently died from disease at a young age, leaving him with an heir that was too young to enforce his claim and France simply rescinded their promise and agreement. That’s so tough considering his achievements only to get killed by some damn bacterial infections 💀
This is one of the problems, nothing against him commenting on a subject as long as it is superficial, but when you know very little or almost nothing is risky depending on your position, it is easy for a person who likes him to end up following just because he specifically spoke , so I avoid as much as possible any personal opinion of streamer / youtuber that I like to watch.
yeah, doesn't take much of a genius to shit on religion. Wish people would look into our ancient stories more before throwing them all away. Our ancient stories out live civilizations and castles and we still have them.. they should be carefully looked into and deciphered and extract the meaningful stories before we throw the baby out with the bath water. Western civilization and democracy stems from the individual being paramount and this idea comes from religion. we believe it so much that the continuation and maintenance of the state is relied on the individual, this is why the individual is charged with the duty in voting in the leader.
The auld alliance prevented England from going to war with Scotland, without going to war with France too. In short, France guaranteed Scotland’s independence
Tommy the largest group of people is German and the reason German presence went down was because WWI and before WWI German I think was the second most spoke language
@~37:28 it's Deistic; it's an old term used by 18th and 19th century people to describe one that believes in God, but doesn't practice going to church. I'm just putting this out here, since idhk if Tommy cares enough about the comments section under a captured stream to capture his reaction to Oversimplified's video.
More simply they believe in God, but not the hoopla surrounding in the whole rituals (if you wanna call it that) that surround that (like going to church, praying, etc.).
Beauty is highlighted in Catholicism because beauty is a judge. The feeling of fright by the approach from a beautiful woman is because her beauty makes you realize you are not what you could be and you know it. Beauty is a harsh judge. That is why the cathedrals are built to be huge and magnificent and beautiful. I cant say I believe in a god but there is true meaning behind these stories and they need to be considered before scoffing at it and tossing it away. They outlived castles and civilizations. these stories are created and evolved as it is passed through the generations. The archetype of the hero, the spirit of the father and son, the death and rebirth. these stories are all older than the damn bible. the word bible from ancient Greek I believe translates roughly to something like "library" and the Greeks were the ones to give us democracy and other great ideas. The person, people or council who put the stories together I imagine were a lot smarter and took true thoughtful and precise decisions before doing so.
