Actually people do. The parents of my girlfriends stepfather were prussians but they had to either stay and became poles (and no one wants that) or migrate. They chose the last one.

We do know about this, many people here have stories of the expulsion in their family. one grandfather tried to get on the gustloff with his family, but it was already crowded and they were ordered to dig trenches, kinda good for the... later they had to flee over the frozen Baltic sea

Yeah, it's quite weird, cause both sides of my family are from Eastern Prussia and I did a DNA test on 23andme. "Surprisingly" I'm part of the R1a haplogroup and closely related to people living in Poland... but if you zoom into the map of Poland it says that I'm def not related (greyed out area) to most people living in the former eastern territories, but rather to people in Mazovia and co. So this 23andme result kinda displays this resettlement of Poles from Eastern Poland to the former German territories.

The eastern parts of pre ww2 poland were majority ukranian and belarusian and the poles tried to make them a little more polish but it didnt work out

@@Silver_Prussian ofc we have similiar genes, that's imho the conclusion of every test. the test still shows that i'm closer related to people in Poland or Eastern Germany than to my fellow Western Germans, which makes completely sense. the haplogroup was the interesting part for me.

@@karl-heinzgrabowski3022 still do not trust those tests dude, no matter what, if you wanna know your ethnicity these tests are not to be trusted in any way the most reliable source is your grandparents and any other still alive ancestor that you can ask about your family tree maybe you might have some sort of polish ancestry but if its not atlrast your great grandma or great grandma who was polish the dna will be in very small procent because the thse genes will recede after a few generations

I would add that neither of those terms mean anything. Progressive compared to what ? Conservatives compared to what ? Yesterday’s progressives are today’s conservatives. Civil rights activists, anti-CIA and establishment activists, even most of the old school hippies are considered "conservatives" by today’s standards in the US, while progressive are actually "progressing" backward on many issues (most notable racial and sexe discrimination). To say that people who vote Republican, actively opposing Democrats who are trying to repeal the advancements brought by Dr. Martin Luther King (California Proposal 16); trying to teach kids that all white people are vile racist oppressors; who flip flop on Asians being a minority at times when it suits them, and not being a minority when you bring up that they are the most successful group in America, along with Jews; that people should be hired or not on the basis of their race, sexual orientation or sexe and disregarding merit, are racist is idiotic and uninformed at best, willfully evil at worst.

Somewhat correct but Republicans weren’t the “progressive party”, they had elements of both ideologies and the same, but vice versa, applies for the democrats as well.

Poland got a lot less than it deserved, lost almost a fifth of its population as result of German war crimes, plundered, its economy was in ruin, it lost more land than it gained even though it was on the winning side and ended up being under a regressive communist regime for 50 years.

@@WWSzar I’m not saying Poland should not have gotten any land. It should have been protected by the West. Poland should not been given Prussia. It should have received all the territory it gained except for Prussia. Poland should have also got a small portion of Ukrainian land.

Let's get something straight the eastern half of the German Empire was never "German occupied Polish territory", it was German territory. If anything's that land in the modern-day is Polish occupied German territory.

@@kodylangham a lot of German lands in the east can easily be considered "German occupied Polish territory" before WW1,like Poznan and West Prussia, which were majority Polish, but places like Wroclaw (Breslau back then) were German and people didnt question that, but i dont know how you can consider Poland to be occupying German territory when the land is ethnically Polish now and and has been for decades, and while Germany historically had a large prescence and history in the area, in the 1000's, 1100's, 1200's, 1300's, 1400's 1500's and 1600's, it had a history of being linked to Poland or directly owned by Poland, with Polish culture in Silesia for example being harshly supressed in the 1700's by Frederick the Great
