A loud screamer vs a quiet gentleman

Boll is playing at such a high level, kinda the best I've seen him play recently. He managed to go blow for blow with Harimoto, which is very impressive for an old pro. Harimoto is so fast, but Boll anticipated correctly nearly 100% of the time where Harimoto was going to place the ball. Even more than that, Boll was not only able to keep up with the youngster, but he sometimes was able to place the ball where Harimoto didn't think it was going to go. Harimoto's normally stellar defense also couldn't cope with Boll's spinny topspin. Boll shows he is the best outside of a few select stars in the CNT.

Harimoto still has a lot to learn, still has age on his side, no player not even Waldner, Long or Timo was as good as Harimoto at 15, He still has to work on his forehand in all aspects; looping, counter looping, anything you can think of. And when his backhand isn't a 100 like it was in this match, he struggles a lot. However in an interview with TV Tokyo, Yosuke Kurashima said what makes hari dangerous is WORLD'S FASTEST BACKHAND, honest and true assessment, But there goes Hari's father saying in terms of techniques, and tactics his son is only second in the world to Ma Long. I remember watching a video about Harimoto where he talked of his upbringing, and how his father taught him the backhand thoroughly and how to hit it from almost anywhere on or around the table, AND WHEN he got to the JTA and the national team was when he started mastering the FOREHAND. With his forehand still a lot problematic, what on earth does his father sees that makes him think his son is second best, A fast backhand???, Maybe the forehand flip??, the Chiquita???, So that's all the technique there is to the sport. It's just ludicrous. No Good Coach nay Mediocre Coach will make that kind of assertion, And everyone was thinking Harimoto's father is like a one in a century coach or something???. I still will applaud his efforts on his child though, but if he doesn't take time to thrash out the rest of the techniques he claim his son has, We'll see how Tokyo and Paris would be for Japan.

i love how he screams for 1 or 2 points, and then gets rekt in the following point :D timo did a great job here!!! the strategy is so bad after all these games. hes so quiet for a whole losing set, and then in the next he tries to get back the momentum with yelling from the first point on, then every point makes him louder.

FH and counter FH shots must be the big homeworks for Harimoto. Keep the balls alive do not give up too soon in the plays which leading to loose points. Having said that Harimoto should practice more on counter BH blocks, although he is very good on BH smash, that would protect Harimoto from his opponents returns.

Game 2 destroyed Harimoto's confidence. Harimoto is like a train, once he gets going, he is hard to stop. But, if you put a stop to it, without constant choing, he seems to become more and more passive. Even when he wins a point or two later on, he didn't cho much, not like the first game anyway. Well done Timo the ageless one.

I'm sure the screams worked on many players (they work on me, I lose all the time to screaming people) but Timo seems unimpressed here. I wonder what's his secret to ignore them. I usually want to strangle the screamers, kids, adults or old people alike, they get to me so fast!

ITTF should come up strongly and should not allow these shouting and screams for every point earned.its very distracting for the opponent. We saw Malong loosing to harimato, it shows how much it has distracted him

Harimoto's usual game will not work against a solid leftie like Timo. Also, Boll has a weakness in returning balls from wide FH side ( Dima exploited that to beat him several times last year), but H continued to attack on the BH. Looks like H and his coach did not do their homework before the match.
