When it comes to flying, you need to consider regulation and restricted zones, that sometimes can totally disable flying for example in vicinity of military bases or airports or whatsoever. Don't even get me started on accidents in air. Only thing I see is some magic future where regulators allow flying only by autonomous vehicles that obey very strict rules that cannot be overwritten. Maybe then we would see flying cars, taxis, deliveries. If it doesn't happen, there still could some purpose built machines (like military, agriculture today), but access to them wouldn't be as spread as the flying car people would like you to think.

We’ve already had flying cars for decades now. They’re called helicopters and airplanes. Duh! Bridges and tunnels negates the need for personal surface to air automobiles. It will never happen so get it out of your head. Use common sense instead. The amount of thrust it takes to lift an object “ so called flying car” off the ground must exceed the weight of the object including its payload. 30 to 40 thousand people die each year in automobile accidents just imagine how many would perish each year if we were flying around a 100 to a 1000 feet in the air. Not to mention the havoc it would reap to our natural environment. We’ve already explored this idea years ago and and deemed it to be a catastrophic unnecessary use for our daily transportation needs.
