Percy tells the story of the ghost train. Thomas thinks he’s being a silly little engine. That evening, Percy came back from the harbor, but a broken cart of lime lay ahead. Percy broke the cart to smithereens. Lime flew everywhere. He puffed quickly to the nearest signal box. “I’ll see to it,” said the signalman. “But you better clean Percy or people will think he’s a ghost.” Percy chucked. “Do let’s pretend I’m a ghost and scare Thomas.” Percy wanted to teach Thomas a lesson for calling him a silly little engine.
