@m brew A long time ago I moved to a new place with houses very close to each other. I, being the wonderfully considerant soul that I am told my new next door to please let me know if my music was ever too loud....he only darkend my door step was when I played opera or rap! Whipersnapper!
When me my son 18 my daughter 16 & my future husband All worked at the Holiday Day in Las Cruces NM. Beautiful 😍 cocktail waitress ( I was head bartender) all of Us 2 generations would light up when this song came on. Music has deep roots in your memories. ❤Thank 🙏 You 4 the happiest memories 💖 Ever! EL..
This song and wild thing I still regularly listen to. Whenever I'm at work and have headphones in and either of them come on, the volume goes all the way up and I'm instantly in a better mood and ready to get shit done! 😎
I did the same thing without headphones and my boss was NOT impressed, now I have to pay my auto insurance with the money I get from employmrnt insurance! What the hell! 😂😂😂
Pump It Up!! C'mon, Pump It Up!! "I Want To See Production Son!" That last line was from my Foreman Frank when I was an Apprentice Carpenter back in the 80s! The building is still standing! Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
They're doing a 90s concert here in a few months and he's one of the artists performing. I'm pretty sure I'm buying tickets lol. Gonna feel like I jumped in a time machine seeing all these old 90s acts
Just saw Tone Loc live at the fair in Mobile Alabama on November 2nd and he is still just as awesome as when he started out!!! There was a mix of older fans and younger fans as well. Just proves how good music stands the test of time😁😀
Apparently when I was younger I stood up in front of my kindergarten class and performed this song I am now 38 years old and my family still talks about it😂🤣😂
Oh my gosh you must have watched a lot of yo mtv raps 🤣😂🤣- everybody watched that - white boys, black boys, it didn’t matter- this is when hip hop and rap was crossing over and tone was a big part of that along with the others you mentioned- i was a sophomore in high school then and tone was all over mtv - brings back a lot of high school memories
LOVE it, it takes me back to when I was a young man getting old f...in sucks "BIG" time. This tune still sounds as fresh and vibrant, in 2023, as it did back in 1989. It never dates, the 80s had some great music.
So, I'm Funky Cold Medina's age:) I LOVED this song as a young person in the late 1990s'/early 20's... I'm now 56. Can music just be awesome, no matter?
i would play this song and wild thang/thing back in the 80s over and over again. these two songs had the sickest or "dopest"lol beats we ever heard back then! then i was blown away when i heard nwa. and i aint gonna lie, i loved ice ice baby too, and i still do!
This still stands up in Dec 2018 - what a great track! I remember buying the album (yeah - vinyl!!) in 1989. And now I feel old. Right, 'Wild Thing' is next up...
And discovering that there are worse things than rejection. Note that when Tone dumped the medina, he was choosing to return to his previous life of cold showers and rosy palm.
80s were a great time to be a young music fan. You had Prince, MJ, Madonna, then you have Motley Crüe and Guns N Roses, add Beastie Boys, Run DMC and Tone Loc. Tons of great original music that sounded so different and fresh.
And you didn't even cover punk, new wave, industrial, some of the best film and TV scores ever composed, the last gasps of disco, great joke/parody music...
POISON! (I know mentioned but needed to- UNSKINNY BOP BOP BOP BOP 🤘🎶 good lawd imma need to start a new playlist I just had some major nostalgic flash back slappery! The Bangles. Journey, INXS, Whitesnake, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper *my girl!* AC/DC (AND WE'VE GOT THE BIGGEST....
The 80s had the best music, period. My 29 year old daughter says she was born in the wrong era, and wishes she could have been in the 80s with the best music!
On google lyrics it reads: “I’m down with the ladies.” But in this version he songs, “Loc’s down with the ladies.” I remember it being the former. Mandela Effect maybe?
100% agree! (This is called ‘Hip-Hop’) And way back, about 10 years BEFORE this song, we had the grandfathers of Hip Hop, like Sugarhill Gang. All of the early Hip Hop was good, and coming along with Rock, early Hip Hop was fun, and listenable. Right up to Run DMC, but they started making changes to their songs, turning their lyrics about violence and also filling their lyrics with filthy language. It got so bad with Run DMC at the time there were people boycotting their music everywhere, it was all over the news constantly, and they were banned from all radio stations. So, the only way you could hear them at that point was to buy their cassette or CD. Which at that point I never did. It went from Hip Hop to Rap and all the fun was gone. Gone were the clever, rhyming lyrics, and real musical instruments. The lyrics turned towards violence and obscenity, was no longer sung but spoken and was all done to electronic drum machines or some other kind of electronically produced “music”. The way I remember it, the good Hip Hop had about a 10 year run, and there were plenty of great songs during that time.
@@jmflyer55It's really taken a downward turn these last couple decades or so I'd say since P Diddy rose up in the aftermath of the Biggie and 2 Pac murders which is a whole dig deep dive in it self and hugely suspicious once you look at it closer by researchers. Now we have openly Satanic weird shit and 'rap artists' openly gay and transgender with sparkly dresses, make up and hand bags on stage. 'Hip Hop' has gone fully 'Woke' and a reflection of current trends within society. It's nothing like the 'Hip Hop' I grew up with. Pretty degrading too and revolves around materialism and even the women flaunt everything or degrade their men unless they can provide them a nice expensive ring and serve them up a comfortable life style where they don't have to lift a finger or work hard for it. And think today's generation Z is listening close to all this shit and potentially have the same aspirations and similar life styles. Great empowering influences it must be said. Definitely bigger agenda's happening. Social Engineering at its worst!!!!
