I have this for my 1 year old. And as you say, we just supervise it and don't let him 'play' with it yet. The bedtime stories really seem to calm him and the sing-along Tonies (e.g. cocomelon) are always good fun for him.
I read to my son all the time, he loves books! He enjoys this for listening to stories at bedtime. It's wonderful that he can choose his own story, change it if he likes without help. This is a wonderful product. We've had it for over a year and really enjoy the National Geographic tonies! 10/10.
I’m going to order one for my youngest daughter, the oldest always get more stuff (not expensive things though) she’s her fathers fav. so yes I’ll spend some money in my youngest. I know she’ll love it 🥰 and I want her to have something nice and something she’ll remember n have in her memories ❤ plus her birthday is this month 🎉
Good review and very helpful Not sure what age it is suitable for …. but worth considering …. Thanks for your hard work in providing this review . Some people commenting are so rude and negative. Constructive criticism is one thing, but nasty comments aren’t necessary … ❤️
You just need the phone for the setup and otherwise it will work fine without you needing to go into the app. It can be used without wifi, once you have played the Tonie you want to play it is stored in the speaker. However you will need wifi to play a brand new Tonies character.
You started by commercialising the Product that is very complicated and expensive then how to install it. You should reverse the title without the question mark.
How many hours per day do you read to your kids? And Ou never experienced how wonderful and soothing and inspiring it can be to listen to your favourite audio adventure? All WHILST having parents reading to you? Jeeeez
Just got one for granddaughter- thanks so much for this excellent video. Gets you into understanding the toy far quicker than all the individual tutorial on manufacturers website.
I’ve purchased one recently for my 5 year old twin grandsons boys birthday and think it looks great and love that it is cushioned too other family members can add figures for birthdays etc and I think it could become a favourite… smyths toys have it on offer at £60 + atm too! 👏👏👏👍♥️
This is a great review, I just got one without a manual but now I know what I can do with my starter set- the idea of grandma reading to my kids is brillant!
I feel this would be a welcome gift for a child with parents who have never read to them but would be a disappointment to a child with parents that actually do read to them.
Yes. The review itself provides really interesting cultural insight into a very different parenting style where you 'supervise' your child instead of playing or spending time together and exercise a level of clandestine 'parental control' by setting the volume on your device instead of explaining to your child and agreeing with them the settings.
I just found out about these audio readers and I have found a slew of them on fb marketplace with plenty of tonies. Is this a bad omen??? Why are so many parents selling off their tonnies lol? Is it just because their kids get over them?
What a wonderful review! Ive had one for my girls for a year and have not opened it but i will now thanks to your informative review. Not sure its worth the price yet but i know my girls will love to listen to stories after they read with me...
Thank you so much for this! I tried finding what to do on the website and the Toniebox RU-vid page and just was so confused and disheartened. However, this is just FABULOUS. NO waffle and very informative thank you!!! And for even giving useful anecdotes about using for younger kids because I bought this for my 18 month old as the whole family really want her to watch tv, but I don’t, not just yet!
I have just bought one for my 8 year old. Theyre great for older children too. My daughter has autism and she loves Stories. We use the alexa but she wants the Figures.
Can these toys be used interchangeably on different boxes? I’m a bit confused. I bought the peppa pig one and paw patrol. Do those boxes have to stick to just peppa and paw paw patrol?
Yes they can. You can get as many Tonies as you want to play on the box, and your kids can swap Tonies with their friends and those will work on the box too.
Great vid explanation thank you. Do you know if you can have more than one creative figure? I purely want it to upload our voices and stories so just wandering about the Maximum potential. Would be brilliant to get so many stories uploaded from us and grandparents for the kids.
That is such a good question. I have both. The echo dot edges it out for me in terms of access to a range of content and songs (ie popular music). The toniebox is great for toddlers, I would go with the echo dot for ages 4 and up.
Once a figure/story has been uploaded onto the toniebox or started, can it then be used without WiFi? Like in the car for example? Fantastic review by the way, exactly what I was looking for! I have now purchased for my 2 year old for Xmas after watching this🙂
Hi there, yes it can. You just need to make sure you've uploaded the content of the Tonie onto the box before you go. I suggest double checking by switching off your wifi and seeing if it works before you leave, to save any tantrums in the car! x
$100+ for an overblown MP3 player and built in need to buy $15+ toys to get a single story. That is insane. Totally insane. You could get an old cassette player with tons of audiobooks for 1/8 of that cost. Insane.
@@ANIONEJM or because it's just something nice & a bit of fun, I'd rather "waste" my money on this for my child than cigarettes, booze or scratchcards like some parents! Those are the people who piss money away.
@@PrincessPikka Or because it's something that you have purchased and my comment hits home that you have more money than sense? Whatever it is that you need to say to comfort yourself for an item that will possibly be half the price in years to come is fine. Don't delude yourself into thinking that people can't not purchase all the things you listed plus this included. Or that they can't be categorised under the same notion of more money than sense also. It's an overpriced Bluetooth speaker which enables your child to not have too much screen time. The same thing can be achieved with recording your voice saying stories on your phone and playing it via WiFi on a Bluetooth speaker etc etc. If you want to even go a step further and make it more modern. People of all categories piss money away. Your just in the no drink no smoke but will piss it away on children toys categories. Point still stands x
@@ANIONEJM I don't own it but I think it's a very cute idea & I think my son would like it. I'd rather waste my money on my child, them have something that will last & bring them enjoyment! If you don't want one, don't buy it, it's that simple!
My daughter just got one for Christmas from a relative and hers is doing this after charging over night. Did you end up getting help or figuring out what was going on?
