A rough draft, long version of an upcoming keynote that I am giving in Syracusa, on how these two philosopher's from Tarentum shaped classical Greek philosophy and the study of music.
This is such a great share. I hope you are collecting lots of musicians to tune your tones together. I want to listen to this exploration in multiple albums please! Thank you for the music you’ve created and recreated. I’m really loving it. I used to have so much fun making music parties with some microtonal musicians in San Diego. Nothing as beautiful as what you have understood but very exciting muse activating collaborations. I’ve missed that conversation and I’m so glad to find you.
This will be published as a chapter in an edit book in the next year. I’ll probably put out the rough draft on my academia page in a few weeks. Bib will follow with those.
Well in this case it’s mostly from Ptolemy’s Harmonikon. I am not sure who persevered Aristoxenus… but no doubt the Arabic world was the only place where these tunings continue to be practiced!
