In a revealing interview, Sir Tony Blair talks about Queen Elizabeth’s legendary reign and his rare relationship with her during his 10 years as Prime Minister. He recalls his advice to the monarch after Princess Diana’s death, saying, “she was trying to balance what she had to do as a queen and what she had to do as a grandmother.”

This so-called 'Queen' leaves behind a legacy of denial of treacherous plunder from nations, killing of innocent, unarmed civilians through inhuman laws and staying defiant on the crimes against humanity that her Empire perpetrated. She had 70 years to openly repent for their actions, but never once did I hear I'm sorry, or please forgive us, not once. The torture, and Mutilation of people in the colonies can never be forgotten, or forgiven. She must be remembered in the light of her greedy, selfish actions and not some romanticized, redundant title. May those who perished because of her family's greed find peace. May humanity be spared from such characters in future. Americans and American media should be ashamed of themselves for glorifying this family with racist and colonialist history. On one hand they claim they fight for black civil rights and on the other hand they glorify racism and colonialism. Why do you celebrate July 4 if Colonial British were so benevolent? Hypocrites.

I do believe that in many ways the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, was a pivotal point for Her Majesty and "The Royal Family". Remember that the Queens' initial thinking was, as Diana was no longer an "official member of the family, being divorced, a quiet low key family funeral would suffice, but she had certainly underestimated the public's reaction to the death of "The People's Princess". Then Prime Minister Tony Blair had to persuade Her Majesty that "she" was no longer able to dictate what official responses should be and that she had to finally acknowledge and bow to the will of the people. Despite earler public statements about being dedicated to her subjects, the reality that she really did at last, have to accede to their wishes, must have been a bitter pill to swallow.
@shelleyphilcox4743

@Peter L Baldwin The Queen, quite rightly, prioritised the children. Blair, the media, and some members of the public clamour for their grief to be prioritised and recognised above the needs of family members in appalling shock and grief. Blair's job should have been to help the family and make it clear to media and public to have patience, restraint and compassion. The Queen also, quite rightly, had to consider what Dianas own family might prefer to do, and not dominate the situation. Blair is a disgrace, the media behaved poorly and it was not the publics finest hour in their own selfishness. Blair is reviled in the UK.
@manichairdo9265
@manichairdo9265 2 года назад
The funeral was Diana's family's responsibility not that of her former mother in law. Inspite of 1 million protestors, tens of thousands of people died because Blair wanted war, including Dr Kelly who killed himelf when made Blair's scapegoat. The public, although they mourned Diana's death, turned the whole shebang into a mellodramatic performance.

If the queen had cared about William & Harry, she would Not have forced them to have to walk behind their mother's casket. Can you truly imagine what that would be like? Like Harry said: "What kind of family does that?!" I would never put my children through that. And William & Harry are damaged goods because of it and always will be. How appalling to put your demands to assuage your own grief above that of the family suffering. It was petty. Blair managed it all very, very badly indeed. Incompetence and lack of leadership on his part. He did not help. The public wanted a display...they got one, from their essential bullying of the family to display their tragedy and grief, and then have the gaul to criticise the family. It was public pressure that brought it to bear. However, an assuaged public and media got their display and it at least meant the.boys had a modicum of peace thereafter from media and the public, finally a little shamed for their selfishness as they saw exactly what their demands led to. The family were hounded to it.

We keep hearing that the Queen didn't interefere in political issues, which is absolutely incorrect, many many top important decisions in UK politics were exactly her direct word and decision but often were not made public, any declaration of war (at least you agree in this point) must have the Queen's signature on it for going ahead . In February 2004 the current King Charles lll ( the Prince Charles at that time ) was sent to Iran for a top important visit disguised as a humanitarian mission after the devastating Bam earthquake ( which killed over 30000 people ), he stayed there at least 24 hours, the main reason for that mission was very important, a very direct and supportive talk with the Iranian reformist president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami who was not liked and supported by the hardliners of Iranian politic . Interestingly the Iranian red crescent department was totally unaware of this important visitor even after the Prince Charles's touch down in Tehran ! Have you ever asked yourself why so many many Iranian refugees and asylum seekers so easily cross the channel and granted residency permit here in the UK without being much scrutinised or deported later on ?! ... Just because the late Queen gave an OK regarding Iranians( a sort of let them in, that's 👍OK! ) for that to happen . I was saying that since more than 25 years and just last week this guy, his name is BABAK EMAMI, he confirmed that . He is an Iranian born Conservative party member and during his talk and tributes to the passing of Her Majesty the late Queen he mentioned that ! ( You can ask him more about that if you want . )

You have to remember that Charles and Diana had just gone through quite a messy separation and divorce with both of them giving interviews about their extramarital affairs and speaking openly about issues like self harm and eating disorders amongst other things. The media leaked phone conversations between Charles and his now wife that were VERY graphic and totally unheard of back then. Diana publicly said that Charles wasn’t fit to be king. If anyone damaged those boys it was their parents because they were bullied at school over their parents messy indiscretions. The Queen ordered Charles and Diana to divorce and Diana died very shortly after. When Diana died the people felt a great deal of sympathy with her and felt that she had been used to produce an heir and a spare. The fact that Diana’s death wasn’t acknowledged by the royal family until days after caused immense outrage amongst the people and Tony Blair communicated this to the Queen. The people were getting increasingly angry because they felt that the royal family ignored Diana. Total radio silence. Again, you can say what you want about Tony Blair but he simply did his job by communicating to the Queen that if the issue continued and they continued to ignore the public it could cast the whole institution into ill repute. There was serious concern for the future of the monarchy. I was in London in the days after Diana’s death and the people were getting increasingly angry and frustrated. Tony Blair was merely the messenger so to those trying to blame him for pressuring the Queen you are misinformed. He did his job and it most probably salvaged the situation. No big fan of Blair but in that situation I strongly believe that he did the right thing.

I always find it interesting to hear those who have contempt for tradition. They think that just because something is old, it is automatically out-of-date and irrelevant. Well, my retort to that is always that if there were no value in tradition, it would not have lasted as long as it has. The monarchy serves a transcendental purpose in Great Britain, demonstrating that temporal matters are ephemeral while the monarchy exists somehow above it all. Here in the United States, we don't really have an institution that reminds us of the broader nature of life. We are always "in the weeds," so to speak, in terms of our political bickering and character assassinations. To have the example of the monarchy, which teaches the British people how to behave, is a most precious asset. I am grateful to Her Majesty The Queen for her immense sacrifice to serve the British people. It is not easy to live on a higher plane than the rest of one's country. It must take a huge toll to keep one's mouth shut. But she did it all with such grace, dignity, warmth, and humor.

Actually I think tradition is a great thing, but it should be also said that there is flaws with tradition, because tradition isn't perfect, tradition to be a free country or soverigne nation, there is a lot of things we don't see in the background with what the queen had to do, everyone has there own opinion just like I am sure she did being the queen. I am sure she wanted to speak out at certain points in time, but might been held back from other people to make sure that it wasn't tarnished her image on some of here views. If you want to talk about the USA what is a big difference is that it is nation that has forgotten history and everyone doesn't want to offend someone because it is bad form now a days. I think what has happen is that in Britain they want to believe that having a queen or king will make them feel comforted like someone is looking out for them. I think because she didn't speak out about things is what made people gravitate towards her, but that isn't really a friendship its is a imaginary thing that really doesn't help them feel like there looked out for. I honestly think there a lot more in the background about her history
@RyanHLee-nc7hg
@RyanHLee-nc7hg 2 года назад
@@M_Lopez_3D_Artist I understand your position. Then again, I don't necessarily think that the role of the monarchy is to make the people feel "looked out for." That's what the government is there to do. The Prime Minister and the rest of Parliament have that role. The Head of State's role is to ensure continuity, to stimulate a sense of imagination and magic among the people. The powerful aspect of the British monarchy is this dichotomy between the Head of State and the Chief Executive. They are completely separate. I think that works out far better than when those roles are combined, as they are in the US.

But I can’t help feeling that those gloating about her death & justifying it by simply shrieking ‘EMPIRE Grrrrr!!!’ are aiming their rage at the wrong person. She used her influence to promote the building of bridges and healing of wounds & she did so in an un-showy way, which is why the casual observer may have missed it. For example, her trip to Ireland was a huge thing to do both in terms of the security risk and political statements she was making. Her speech at Dublin Castle, visits to Croake Park and Crumlin Jail, laying a wreath for Republican victims of The Troubles, meeting McGuiness (both briefly and later for a proper meeting) - these things were her way of really leaning into the cause of ongoing peace by acknowledging and expressing regret for the actions of the British gov & army. She did all this despite losing a much loved family member to IRA violence. My beliefs re. Ireland are fiercely republican, I long to see a United Ireland in my lifetime. But that doesn’t stop me having respect for her efforts to support and promote the ongoing work of peace. Her long and supportive friendship with Nelson Mandela is another indicator of her desire to support recovery and reconciliation in post-colonial countries.

What is it with people that think that the queen's death was any different from anyone else. The suddenness of it is nothing unusual. My grandmother died on new years day 1987. She was staying with her daughter for a weeks holiday She got up in the morning as she usually did; did her washing and hung it out to dry and then did some vegetables ready for lunch while my aunt did some other chores. She then sat in her favourite armchair and proceeded to read her woman's magazine while at the same time having a conversation with my aunt who was in an adjoining room. Mid sentence she died...just like that. No drama no pain, & she was still holding her magazine when my aunt came to see why her mother had not answered a question just asked. Her aorta has ruptured and death was instantaneous. There had been no illness, no signs. People do just die without warning...so someone like the queen, going to sleep and not waking up at 96 is far from unusual. People need to get a grip on reality.

It is for NBC in the US. Generally speaking NBC isn't going to cover Tony Blair being a controversial PM because the subject is QE2, not Tony Blair. If this were British TV (or Mike Wallace) I can see that approach

After reports that he was the Queen's least favourite Prime Minister, and I don't blame her, perhaps Cur Tony Blair should keep quiet. Her Majesty was obviously a wonderful judge of character. Blair should stay out of public view.

We are not born equal but everyone should be treated equally under the eyes of the law. Just look at Prince Andrew. They must have known for some time but tried to hide his actions. If crap like that happened in America it would be news instantly.
