Because Tony Cowden, like the political campaign he ran, is a fascist who believes in violently suppressing any dissenting voices or opinions that he feels insult him.
Texas has a law that makes it legal to shoot a man after dark to protect property. It's a relic from a time when stealing a man's horse could leave him stranded to die in the middle of nowhere or unable to work to feed himself and his family. Similarly, fighting over being called a liar is a relic from a time when a man's word meant something and to sully a man's word amongst the community by calling him a liar could result in him being held slightly beneath the town drunk in social standing and unable to find work or business partners. It would have been far less of an insult to walk up and punch him square in the face, and the expectation was that an honest man would be so offended that he'd be willing to challenge the accuser to a duel to defend his name; not so much to prove he's telling the truth but to show that, liar or not, his word means something to him and he's willing to risk his life over it. Sadly, duels ain't what they used to be.

He has some real b.s. artists on that show. Some seem certifiably nuts. Now Cowden’s interview was compelling and entertaining, and I don’t know whether this guy’s complaint is legit or not. It sounds gossipy. But some of those on Ryan’s show make some outrageous and silly claims.
shawn ryan has long left the serious route and is all in for exposure and money. all these ufo nuts and other lying narcissists i personally dont think he believes them but it makes it easier to find entertaining guests. theres no shortage of grifters and people looking for their 5min of fame.

He’s just a bit naive about some aspects of the world. Very knowledgeable about others. People who goofed off on drugs and drinking a lot in high school, missed out on a lot of other, more nuanced aspects of life, as it turns out. Same with college. The most useful aspects of going to college, aren’t the classes, as much as what we learned about people, having to live with others, from different backgrounds, pursing different fields of interest, learning to compromise, live on our own, do our own laundry, live on a pittance, and to find a way to get along with eachother. No one mentions this part, but it is the most valuable aspect of college, and frankly, at least in the recent past, anyone who pursued college, had a base level of initiative, discipline and responsibility in high school, that allowed them to achieve the grades, (believe me, I’m no student, but I worked hard) to get into a decent college, in the first place. Many special forces and most enlisted military, join to get their crap together, as a last resort. Let’s be honest. The stoners were too stoned to pay attention to the rest of school, outside of class, as well.

Real recognizes real in the end and he is as transparent as cling wrap with his stories.
I’m a “girl”, a former professor of fine arts at GWU in DC (quit in protest of woke) and middle aged, and happen to watch Shawn’s podcast (I’m a history and military buff, I know it’s weird), and I’d never even heard of this guy, but even I found him to be so dopey, such a big dumb dweeb, so obviously exaggerating, I had to turn his big, blabbering mouth, off. It comes across, to some of us, immediately.
The smile you talk about is something I see. Sometimes its a coping mechanism, but Ive seen some fucked shit and trying to descibe it if I choose to tell someone I can't always keep it together. With that said hes been blown up and in a coma and has memories come and go. Without a doubt he has been in the shit and killed guys, had bad things happen. In combat so much happens and if you get concussed and rattled while fighting you go in and out. I don't think we should be as judgemental in his case.

Tony sounds like an old roommate of mine. Dude has some bogus story for literally whatever you're doing. Bail out of a helicopter on BF4? He did it and the helicopter crashed and rolled over him and he's the only survivor, meanwhile Taliban was on the way and he fought them all off solo. Watching Blood Diamond? Yeah, we snuck off base and headed to Africa to take out a diamond mine boss. This dude even claimed to have invented Lancer AWMs and gave away the TDP out of the goodness of his heart so "Marines could have a better mag than the PMag".

Here is my problem with your story,Ben. I don’t know you and have no affiliation with you other than having bought gear from your store at the recommendation of Tony. That all being said, you provide stories you heard from other unnamed people. We all know how that works in real life. Could Tony have enhanced some stuff ?Sure he could have, it happens to all of us to make a point or to “enhance” a story. To discredit Tony without providing any proof is the problem. I remember the problem with the practical pistol shooting stuff. He ought right said he manipulated scores, he had a reason which I don’t remember. The fact is he said he did something that could discredit himself. He didn’t lie or say it never happened. That association was one of the reasons I never got into shooting those matches. It was too game centric. Without a doubt it could enhance your shooting, it just wasn’t real world for me. Tony’s incident with the running gun fight is taught in certain places to show ways to fight CQB by yourself. It is documented to have happened and used as a teaching point. I can’t say everything happened the way portrayed as I wasn’t there. I do know that in incidents I have been involved in my understanding of the step by step evolution evolved as I moved farther away from the incident. You don’t remember some stuff linearly. It pops up in pieces and becomes clearer over time. I personally haven’t heard Tony brag about anything. He downplays most things. He is unique to say the least and I trust him. Can’t say much more than that in my opinion. So call him a liar, say you heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy. Do your thing. But you can’t make a valid point without proof. Tony has done some extreme fitness stuff, such as running in 200 mile races. The two I am thinking of may have been longer distance, but he didn’t win and in one he damn near died. Who boasts about losing races? He just said I did this and this happened. The two I know about he left injured and in the one case near death. He then said I will be back to try again. He is a great instructor. He is a solid friend to those he choses as friends. State facts you can prove and I will support you. State stuff you heard from a guy or “they” said and I have problems with it.
In Tony’s last posted story (on Ben’s page) he states that “some guys were doing edits” and he “had no idea” so if he admitted actually doing it himself to you, now he’s walking that story further and further back. That doesn’t exactly scream integrity. And the CrossFit thing is documented. It sounds like you want to split hairs about “he cheated in X but there isn’t proof he cheated in Y” as a friend. But there are numerous witnesses to the USPSA thing as well as those who openly contradict that in subsequent matches Tony shot (his own quote) “consistent M and GM scores”. The consensus is that he was performing low B class at best.
Ben has known about this guy for a long time and observed a consistent pattern and practice of dishonesty/ cheating in many ways, times, and sports. He's sharing what he personally knows and what multiple fact witnesses have shared with him that he found credible. I'm sure he neither has the time nor interest to lay out evidence and document all the specific testimony, witnesses, documentation, and electronic evidence. I'm also sure he is smart enough to know that you will believe what you want to believe regardless. Especially if you are already minimizing the massive amount of cheating he did on Practiscore.
If Cowden’s stories have evolved, show us the evolution. Don’t tell us. Show us. I’m not going with allegations…give us evidence. Otherwise this is gossipy. And I mean it when I say… If this is true, I want to see evidence. I hate being lied to. I detest frauds.
Don’t work too hard on that on logic Buddy. Usually when you “call bullshit” you provide first-hand evidence of any allegations made and if you don’t, then everybody should laugh at you like a little girl that you are. And we are laughing.
I like Shawn and understand that having a guest on a show does not mean that he supports their agenda or agrees with them or believes them. However, I do wish he had a good research team to weed some of these guys out.

Mr Ben, I don't know personally and I don't know who Tony is, but when I subscribed to your channel it was for the shooting information. But unfortunately all I see is grown men gossiping on the internet. If you or this Tony gentleman can't speak in person, then don't speak on it in public. This goes for Mr Tony as well. This is the problem with the internet. Everything does not have to be done in public.

The “few friends of Ben’s” referenced at 5:45 include career unit guys with whom Ben regularly teaches or collaborates for content. Guys that would have seen Tony or known of his exploits, were they accurate. Kind of impossible to prove a negative by evidence, but considering the sources… it’s real-deal guys versus a multi-disciplinary cheater, so take that for what it’s worth.
I used to respect Tony until I saw the evidence of his cheating and how he got away with it. I really have nothing for the dude after he doxxed Lucas and laughed about it.

The system runs on honesty and integrity. If you have the tablet you can modify scores. You have to be able to as sometimes scoring errors happen. Most people are honest about it. A few people are not.

@@scotttrujillo363 he cheated in USPSA competitions, over 20 times. Got caught going in and changing his scores several times over. He also got caught cheating in the Crossfit games. As a veteran, I don't have a bit of respect for the guy. People often think bc someone served that they're a good person, but that's nowhere near the truth. I've met some of the best and absolute worst people I've ever come across wearing the same uniform that I wore while I was in.

I'm not going to renew either. With the price increase and really not getting much to begin with I've cut out shooting matches so far this year. If something else starts up and it seems to be on the up and up I may start back up. However I'm getting up there in age so don't have many left anyway.

With your history of claiming Cowden is a USPSA cheat, one would naturally think he mentioned something in the Ryan interview that had to do with comp shooting and or your "allegations or facts". I figured you'd address the lies that "he told" about the USPSA stuff, which you would be in a position to know about, however you're calling him out for stories that you would have no way of knowing anything about. Stolen valor is presenting oneself as having been in the military even though you weren't. Some people are story tellers. As long as the story is not that you served when you didn't, there is no stolen valor.
I used to watch some of his stuff and find Sean very boring. As for Tony, one of his stories that was released in a clip from the show was about he shot someone who put a gun to his head and the body guard. After listening to him describe it, I was like "wait, how did that go down?" It's like now way that went down without him being shot. And he left out some important details which Sean never asked for any clarification.

I was listening to the stuff he was saying and I was thinking, “come on bro, the Delta/CIA background goes only so far….you really expect people to believe those stories?” The sad fact is, the majority of people see the units these guys were in and they believe ANY story they tell. It’s really a fuckin shame. To me, it’s just as bad as stolen valor. It’s like, you we’re already really in these elite units, and you really do have true crazy stories, and now you have to make up bullshit? Come on. It’s interesting because in that Shawn Ryan podcast Tony himself actually says that after his TBI his memory was wiped and when he recalls events from his past he doesn’t really know if they happened or if he’s imagining them!

I can't say whether Tony cheated or not in USPSA, I don't think he did but I don't know the competition world very well, that is your area of expertise. However, I feel you use your knowledge in that area as a blanket way to make everything you say about him seem legit. This is not a dig, but you don't have any expertise in the tactical/military world, like you said. Yet, you talk about all of these things in a realm you don't have much knowledge in as if you have the same level of knowledge as comp shooting. Ultimately this leads to you losing credibility about even the competitive shooing related stuff, making you look like exactly what you call Tony. Also that whole demeanor concept means something different than you think. A lot of people who work in LE/military/etc and have seen a lot of awful stuff, have watched people die, etc, handle trauma in ways that seems odd or inappropriate to someone who has not experienced and dealt with that level of critical incidents and events. It's called dark humor for a reason.

Everybody in this area (NC) who shoots USPSA (including shitloads of military guys also) know he and people at his range cheated. There are matches all over this state, and it's a pretty tight shooting community. We got a lot of professionals and top level military guys and ladies shooting around here. They are the ones that determined cheating was occurring. Cheating was rampant at that particular match. This is NOT "competition shooters against military operators". The proof has already been seen and established beyond doubt. The only people who doubt it are people like you, who know nothing, and the people who don't care if he cheated.
