A rare TV appearance with a band I was with for a good few months. The Nightcatchers was not my usual style, but we got along well and had a lot of fun. We had a lot of prospects though never broke through. Crazy that only 6 months later I was playing with Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers and Chris Slade in the early days of The Firm.
Nightcatchers: Roger Cornish guitar / voc (RIP)
Nikki Leeger voc
Pete Briggs-Fish drums
Andy Murtagh keys
Tony Franklin bass

TONY!!!! I NEED you to “do me a favor”…. And in turn, bassists globally…. Squire does not make a fretless P-Bass… in fact, I think the only fretless P-bass Fender makes is your signature model. I don’t want to get another Sire, the pickups are meant to be active, and I don’t want another active P-Bass after I put a Les Claypool Pachyderm Gold pickup in a 40th anniversary Squire…. As you can tell, I’m priced out of the Fender Signature Model level…. Can you PLEASE “pull some strings” (see what I did there😂) and see if Squire would be open to a fretless P-bass? I remember that Fender and Squire both produced a Troy Sanders signature bass… the Squire was passive and Fender was active…. Plus, Squire produced the best fretless I’ve ever played; the Vintage Modified Jazz bass… Okay, fine, I’ll just say the obvious out loud…. I can’t afford your signature a bass and I want one. 😂😂😂 The only other “dream” Fretless P-Bass I know of is a Fender Japan model made in the 1990’s called the PBAC-100… it was semi-acoustic, wood bridge with a piezo, hollow body with F-holes, and a Lace Sensor P-pickup. I highly recommend adding one to your arsenal… to be able to get the P-bass sound AND the upright sound from the same bass is awesome…
@FretlessMonster
@FretlessMonster 4 месяца назад
I’ve presented this idea before. One of the challenges is maintaining the quality needed for such a fine tuned instrument.
@MainelyW212
@MainelyW212 4 месяца назад
I would totally agree… 4 years ago. Next time you get a chance, grab ahold of a 40th Anniversary Vintage Edition or a Paranormal Series bass and you’ll be pleasantly surprised in my humble opinion 😇 I know they have the templates… I truly believe Squier can pull off the Semi-Acoustic fretless P-Bass with the F hole from that PBAC-100 FL…. Yes, it would probably demand a $700+ price tag, but that is what the Japanese PBAC-100 commanded in 1995 when I first laid eyes on it. So, yeah, I’m begging for a fretless P-Bass… without going back to Sire. Not that Sire is a bad instrument, they are the bees knees FFS.. 🤣🤣🤣 Either way, ALL THE LOVE BROTHER IN BASS!!! You are a legend…

@@FretlessMonster He was only in his late 50s I expect. Follows on from news of Vitalij Kuprij who died age 49 the other day. Not sure why guys are dying young at the moment, and often while still working / on tour etc.
